Knowing what they had to do didn't make doing it any easier. Mitsu hadn't had a lot of practice using her fear in combat. In fact....she had only used it once. The only thing that kept her from completely panicking about this exam was that her one attempt had at least been successful. In the back of her mind she was thanking Lizzy over and over again for suggesting that they practice it. The pressure was still there though to do well. By jack she hoped she did well. The school's longevity rested on their shoulders. It was quite the responsibility and she didn’t want to think of what would happen if they failed. Could they fail? Surely they couldn’t..
She had scanned over the different sections for some time. Her mind kept lingering on the possibility of doing an essay but she had a slight feeling she could do better with her actual fear. At least she prayed to Jack should would do okay. Nodding with determination the lycan waited her turn to use one of the FEAR meters, her heart pounding with anticipation. Secretly she hoped the others did well then maybe the pressure on her wouldn’t be so high.
When she stepped up to finally use the device she stared at it awkwardly for the longest time. While she had seen them in the gym she hadn’t used them before but looking around it didn’t seem too complicated. Mitsu watched the other students for a moment trying to figure out what they were doing before she zeroed in on her task to try and mimic what others had done. Trying her best to steady her nerves Mitsu took a deep breath and concentrated. Her fear began to pool as she focused, her shadow flickering on the ground like a black flame. As the shadow grew darker white void eyes appeared where her head was, a wide white smile splitting across the face.
Slowly her FEAR came to life though in her nervous state it was difficult. Once or twice she thought she had lost its form but finally the inky black shadow began to peel itself from the ground and take shape. Legs began to form as it stretched out from the main body the oddly shaped face finally forming into a snout. When the creature was finally in its full form it was a wolf, large and very much like a wall. This was her fear, something like a barrier. It circled around Mitsu protectively for a few moments before going to the FEAR meter as she told it. The device took a moment to take a reading and once it was done the creature began to dissipate.
The shadow lost its form as it sank back toward the ground almost shrinking back into place at the lycan’s feet. Looking at the device Mitsu wasn’t certain that her score was all that great but perhaps it was better than nothing. Hopefully some of the other students would be able to help fill in the gap that she had left. She felt a little bad that she hadn’t done better. Maybe she should have trained on using her FEAR more or perhaps she should have written the essay after all? It was really too late to think about it now. She had made her choice and now she had to see it through to the end.
Leaving the fear meter Mitsu picked up one of the forms they were supposed to fill out looking over it thoughtfully. It was crazy they had to go through all of this just to keep the school going but Mitsu would do what she had to. This was her home, her true home, the home she had before…she really didn’t want to return to it. Back there she had no family, no friends. Just a small dark room in a home she no longer recognized and a school full of bullies. Here she had everything she had ever wanted, friends, close friends, even a boilfriend and now they were going to take that away. True they said they would be moved to a different school but Mitsu had a feeling her guardian would pull her out and put her back in school closer to home. She had been sent here because this school was supposed to be the best and if it failed to be that then Suto would no doubt not trust what they thought would be an acceptable substitute. It would be pointless and a waste of time and resources.
The form filled out Mitsu held on to it carefully moving to the front to drop it off with her score. Here was to the school and here was hoping that they could save it. No, they would save it. She had to believe that.
