She couldn't believe it.

The first time Riyo had pulled up to this sorry excuse of a school, she had been filled with a sense of dread. The very idea of sharing a living space with hundreds of other (non-feline) creatures made her fur prickle at first...

But over time, she had grown accustomed to the many noises and smells that filled the hallways. Seeing the strange faces that passed by her every day as she went to and fro, and even recognizing some of them. She could still say she didn't enjoy it, but at the end of the day, she liked it much more than staying in her house for long periods of time. Being crammed into one place with only your memories and a glass of wine as company could be... Terrifying.

A soft sigh escaped the ghoul's mouth as she watched the academy appear through the window of her limo. Even after the s**t that went down on the field trip, the place held a strange warmth that filled the feline as the limo stopped. She didn't wait for the driver to hop out and open the door. There was no need.

Riyo only turned back for a moment to grab her small and forgettable suitcase, a certain hazcat hopping out after her. It seemed as though the mini might've been homesick as well. "Next time, we'll just stay in an alley or something. You like sleeping in boxes, right?" She asked with a scoff, receiving a gentle paw on her leg in response. "I wonder who we'll run into first. I bet those assholes didn't even notice I was gone."

The passenger window of the limo rolled down. "Ma'am. I have yet to be paid." Oh, yeah. This had been the first time she didn't have a problem with her limo driver. Reaching into her pocket, the ghoul tossed a pre-counted bag of seeds into the cab. "Have at it." Time to start walking before the jerk asked for a tip. Immediately when her legs started to move, Riyo's eyes searched for a familiar face. The demon had been depraved of any interruptions for weeks. She could even stand an interaction with Hel right now.

Zar still wasn't sure how he felt about school. Things had not been going entirely swimmingly for him, so far he'd fallen over more times than he could count, almost run out of paperwork, oh and he'd been horribly and brutally burned alive by some sort of rebel group in red capes. He couldn't forget that. He certainly couldn't forget that. What little sleep he had formerly been getting was now punctuated by repeating snapshots of that event. He told himself it was nothing, it had to be a class or something, it must happen all the time, but still there was that awful sinking feeling that something had gone terribly terribly wrong that day, that this was all linked to that Red terrorist the papers had been talking about.

He was tired of it already and if he'd had any real idea who to file a complaint with he would have. He hadn't bothered sending his original complaint to the secretary's office since he'd heard stories about how long documents took to be filed in /there/, and the idea of his precious letter ending up in a shredder broke his little demon heart.

Today he was seated on the steps outside the demon dorms, feeling he might as well get a bit of fresh air, sitting with two decuments balanced on a folder, holding a pen in his right hand and in his tail and seeming to be writing two letters out at the same time, his tail imitating his hand exactly, a very simple way of filling it out in duplicate, he was so engrossed in his task he didn't even notice anyone pull up, giving his full attention to the task at hand.

Baneful

The feline had temporarily forgotten about her odd encounter with the incubus after she left for home, but memories of the encounter slowly filled her mind as she noticed the boil sitting just outside her path to home.

Silently the ghoul approached, doing her best not to violently destroy his concentration. She knew the feeling of being interrupted during something important, and how certain people could backlash against it. For a moment, she contemplated simply walking past him due to his current state, but-

Wait.

How the hell was he using his tail like that? It was... Actually useful. Okay, so it wasn't like hers was completely useless, but all it did was keep Riyo's balance. This... Was something else.

The ghoul wordlessly had a seat on the stairs next to him, sitting her suitcase down at her feet while gawking at his tail's ability to perfectly copy what his hand was doing. Subconsciously she scolded her own tail for not being nearly that efficient. Seriously, she'd been doing office work for how long? Long enough. And this guy blew her out of the water.

"How do you do that?" She finally mustered up the gumption to ask quietly. Meanwhile, her smaller feline companion was busy having a seat inbetween them, a soft purr rising from his throat. It was good to see a familiar face after being away for awhile.

Zar looked up with a raised brow, looking puzzled by her question. "How do I do what?" he asked almost rudely, generally always irritable at being interrupted in his work. But he very quickly recognised the ghoul and very speedily backpedaled. "Oh! I beg your pardon. I thought it was..." he wasn't sure how to put it "..anyone else."

He gave her a very apologetic look, hoping he hadn't offended what was one of the only friends he'd made in this strange and dangerous school. No longer abrupt and demanding he tried to figure out what she'd been referring to and after a mere few moments realised it was likely his tail, people he'd run into seemed surprised at its dexterity and usefulness, one of the few handy things he'd inherited from his father.

"I just..do really." he offered "I've always been able to use it like a hand I suppose and with how many things I have to fill out in triplicate or duplicate, it seemed a useful skill to practice." It had passed the time in the lonely house certainly when both of his parents had been off at work.

"Also useful for holding a beverage while I work." he added as an afterthought. "I refuse to put mugs on tables with paperwork." That was just a nightmare waiting to happen.

At Zar's rude tone, the ghoul's brow furrowed, immediately scooting away. Yeah, she sort of expected that. This is what she got for bothering people instead of waiting on them to bother her... But with the way her luck usually went, nobody would bother her until she didn't want them to.

Though, Riyo was surprised when his voice immediately changed. "No. No it's okay. That was my fault. I knew you were busy and I bothered you anyways." The feline sighed and rested her hands on her knees. Generally being a b***h was so easy she didn't even notice it, but she supposed doing so to Zar would be like being a d**k to herself. Not that she wasn't sometimes...

"Wow." He just... Does it? "You really are a paperwork machine." How did he do something so flawlessly that was... So boring? It was like every appendage he had was specifically built with paperwork in mind. What a disturbing thought...

With a frown, she looked back at her own tail, twitching uselessly behind her. "Yeaahh... I set my glass of wine next to my chair while doing paperwork now. As nice as the red looks on the paper, it's just not very easy to read..." That happened back when she didn't care about redoing a stack of papers, though. If she did something like that now, Riyo would probably take a leap out of the nearest window. "But uh, if you're busy, I can leave you alone. I just got back from my break and figured I'd catch up. See how much you hate school so far and what's happened." It would be disappointing if he did end up needing privacy, though. Reaching down to scoop up the purring hazcat, the demon readied herself to leave just in case.
