background . The Winchester's are very young members of the aristocracy, having become part of the landed gentry only two generations prior when their importing business earned the favor of the Crown. Even with the rise of a new monarch, they have maintained that relationship with the royal family and now even the upper echelons of the aristocracy, due to maintaining their business headquarters and a residence in east Palisade, while their estate, Windermere, lies a few days travel east on the King's Road. In the current time, business is booming, as are the ambitions of the Winchesters. Edward Winchester, like his grandfather and great-grandfather before him, is intent on moving up the social ladder even further, and has inherited the charisma and cunning to do so. His beautiful wife Abigail, hailing from a long line of aristocrats, did great things for his social position, that is, until recently. Now, sixteen years into their marriage, she has yet to produce a son. The Winchester's have only one daughter to succeed their estate, or rather to hand it off to her husband or greedy uncles.
appearance . Ariel inherited her mother's dark-haired beauty, but her father's hazel eyes, resulting in a rather striking combination of the two. She is of average height, perhaps a little taller, with a figure too slender to be perfectly in fashion, despite showing a little promise in her chest. Her dress, however, is always at the height of fashion, as demanded by her mother, and she never leaves the city residence without a fuss over her appearance. Only at Windermere is she allowed outside in anything casual.
personality . On the surface, Ariel is the perfect young aristocrat, prim and proper, demure and polite, well-learned and modest, every bit modelled as her mother and governess desired. She inherited the intellect that had propelled the Winchesters into good fortune, but unfortunately not the charisma. Her etiquette is always a bit too forced, the warmth in her tone too contrived and never reaching her eyes, for within Ariel stirs a restlessness she can't quite place. Sitting with the ladies at tea, or attending parties at the heels of her mother, although not unbearable, have always left her with a stifled feeling in her chest, a building frustration. There's nothing wrong with her life, oh no, she has everything she could ask for and yet, there's something missing she can't quite place. So she sweeps another curtsy, fakes another smile, and the restlessness within her grows.
