Wei was basking happily, for once, lolling in the sunshine, not dusting up the desert in pursuit or escape of some enemy at high speed. He'd found a barrel cactus earlier and, through painstaking and painful effort, had broken it open for the water within. It sat heavy and very pleasing in his belly now, precious life giving dew collected from the air, by a plant, for him. His constant deepfound revery of the world and all its wild perfection seemed so appropriate right now. Underneath all the grim and hate there was a Plan, and it involved him alive. Also covered in needles, but that was fine too.
He chewed one of them loose and spat it out, watching the hint of blood beading up from where it had broken the skin under fur. He licked at it, tasting more dirt than salty metal, but they amounted to about the same thing. He wouldn't be surprised if he bled dust, the way he adored the desert. And today it adored him too. He didn't presume that would last... nature was a tempermental ally at best... but he could bask in it anyway.

Sangue'Crimezi was traveling through the desert slightly thirsty but he had enough water in his system to last him a few more hours yet before the sun would start to bear down on him to badly. His white orance and black fur stood out amid the sands beneath his paw's gleaming healthily as he explored trying to find and oasis of some kind to hide in when the sun grew to high overhead to travel any longer. He could smell the scent of some sort of water in the air though not the water that he was used to. He followed the scent to a cactus with a hole in it. The water that had been inside was mostly drained though there were a few mouth-full's left. Lapping up the last of it to help prolong the need to find that oasis, he took a deep breath scenting the air again.
This time he caught the scent of blood, following the scent he came upon the cheetah. the male was covered in the spine of the cactus from earlier as well as dust and grime for traveling around the desert. Looking at the way the male was covered in the spines he help in a laugh. "Would you like some help removing all of those needles. I am sure they must hurt being stuck in you like they are."

Wei spotted the orange and white mirage out on the horizon and watched it curiously, wondering if it were real, illusion, alive or vapor spirit. You never could tell. But as it got closer it resolved itself into a fellow cheetah, a male. Wei chuckled to himself, pleased to see another of his kind out here. He wasn't bothered in the slightest at the other taking advantage of his efforts to get water; Wei was too full to finish it off anyway, and it would evaporate left to its own devices. He flicked his tail in a casual salute of greeting, enjoying the tiny little spark it set off as it shifted the spine two embedded in his haunches.
"Nah, pain's how you know you're alive," Wei answered through gritted teeth, as he dug another out. "As long as I can hurt I know I'm not ghosted." He twisted around, trying to reach the niggling sensation buried in the back of his neck, but unable to get a grip on it. "Though maybe I don't need this many reminders," he admitted ruefully. "Mind scratching my back? It's gonna stay in there forever like bad piercing job if ya don't."

Crim smirked wathching at the other male tried to scratch the area between his shoulders deciding to appease the male he nodded. Going over to the male he smiled reaching down and scratching the itch that the other could not reach. Letting out a slight laugh at the others comment before he moved back.making sure not to get any of the needle's stuck in him the last thing he needed in an area so far away from water would be to get blood on the white of his coat.
"Well my offer to help you get rid of some of the needle's." He looked over at the dessert it seemed to go on for miles and there was no way Crim was going to be caught in the heat of the sun without any sort of protection from it. "Would you happen to know of an oasis around here where I could get out of the heat? The sun is starting to get a bit harsh as it's raising in the sky." Crim was panting slightly as it grew hotter. He was not made fore the desert. The savannah yes but there were tree's in the savannah that offered shade for him to rest under during the heat of the day. Out here however there was nothing, just cacti and the few Oasis that would provide shelter but were incredibly hard to find.

"Oasis! This is the oasis!" Wei laughed, and gestured with a paw to the broken cactus. "This is about as friendly as it gets. But yeah, c'mon. I know a spot you can cool off." He hopped up after pulling out one more spine for good measure, and trotted off into the haze. He wasn't normally so friendly to others, since much of his life had been a kill them before they kill someone else sort of deal. But he was warming up to this new creature. A friendly back scratch certainly helped.
"There's a butte up the way with outcroppings that make for plenty of shade, and there's wild hares that nest in there, good eating if you can catch them. Lucky thing you came across me... ow... ow..." Wei started limping almost immediately, and paused to check his paw. "Dang, I've got a barb dug in deep between the pads." He worked at it, but couldn't get his teeth far enough into the grooves. Even tonguing at it didn't work it loose, only sending stabbing sensations up into the muscle. He held the leg out towards the other male and spread the toes as wide as he could. "Could you... um...?"

Crim looked startled at the words that there was no actual oasis, he looked back longingly in the direction where he knew water to be but knew he would never manage to make it back to the water before the heat of the sun managed to hit them. Relaxing slightly at the news that there were actually things that he would be able to hide away from the sun for a bit at least and there was food there if he cous manage to catch it. He really was more cut out for the savanna's. Getting up to follow the other he smiled slightly at him and let the other lead the way.
He pause when he heard the other's slight grumble of pain. When he saw the limping start he immediately went to the other's side knowing it had to be one of the needles hurting him most likely in his paw or leg somewhere. When he was shown the barb he nodded leaning down and quickly pulling it out. "There now you should be able to walk easier now that it's gone. I hope it didn't hurt to much."

Wei wriggled the paw to work out the sensation of the formerly embedded spine, and was satisfied as it took his weight with only the slightest of stings. It was deep enough between the pads that it wouldn't pick up much dirt from the ground, so it should heal on its own. He grinned toothily. "Thanks for that, I owe you one. What good's a cheetah that can't run, yeah?" Feeling much better, he led the way once again, and soon the blur on the mirage horizon solidified into an decent sized outcropping of stone, with a shadow underneath promising shade enough for several.
Wei hopped up the ledge to the cooler stones in the back and shook out his coat, as if he could wrest off the heat it had soaked in like shedding a cape. He was used to the constant desert sensation that you were broiling in your own blood, but he enjoyed a rest from it gladly. "Traveling in night's the best way in the desert, anyway," he offered. "Much cooler then, even cold sometimes. And the game comes out. And sometimes dew collects. But I've never been one to follow the rules."

Crim waited for the other to continue on his way wanting to know that the other was fine. Nodding when it looked like the other was going to have no problems walking anywhere he ran to catch up with way. "You don't owe me anything, so think nothing of it. We are not much as a species without our running are we." He laughed a bit after his comment noting the blur in the distance was solidifying into the outcropping of rock's the other had spoken of. the shade under neath looked very promising.
Smiling softly at the view of the rocks he moved a bit faster ready to get out of the hot sun. When he did reach them he decided to go the rest of the way to the back the area where all of the coolest ground would be due to it being covered by shadow's all the time. "I really wasn't made for life in the desert it get's to hot during the day and there is no place for me to hide from the sun."

Wei contemplated the other cheetah's comment as he sprawled out to let the ground soothe him with its coolness. "Anywhere can be hot, but yeah, the desert gets a lot of it. More's a problem that there's no rivers or lakes to cool off in. And yeah, lack of much shade." He shifted over to his other side as he noticed the prickle of yet another spine scraping against stone, and went to work at it. "I wasn't born here either. I's raised in a place that... well, makes out here look like paradise. Not a hard place to live mind you, just..." he spat the spine out bitterly. "You weren't really allowed to think. Group of critters, cheetahs and the like, and none of them could so much as sneeze without permission. I bolted soon as I could."
He hated dredging up memories of that place, but he didn't try to hide from talking about it. "Anyway, I love it out here. You can run forever. As long as you don't drop from fatigue, at least." He stretched out a leg to work out a kink in the muscle. "Where are you from, anyway? Somewhere greener? Lost your way and ended up here, huh? It happens."

Doing the same thing the other male was doing Crim listened to him just listening not doing anything else. Hearing him speak about the desert the way he did made it seem quite a bit more likable. He was happy to have the other there with him to talk though he would most likely not be spending very much time in the desert itself. The group the other was speaking of sounded like hell to a freedom loving wanderer such as Crim. He would never be able to stay in such a group. There was not a pride out there that he had found so far that he would like to join all of them seemed so restrictive.
When he was asked about where he was from it took Crim some time to think of his answer. "I have always been a rouge wandering through all unclaimed lands never setting down or making one place my home not that some haven't tried to get me to settle down. I find no reason, want, or need to do so. It just seems so unappealing, there's so much that has been left unseen, so much to explore."

Chuckling, Wei leaned over and patted the other cheetah with a paw appreciatively. "Me neither. S'ppose someday I could maybe hook up with others that like the speed, but a proper clan?" He shuddered. No rules would ever hold him again, he'd die first. That's why he lived in the desert; most creatures avoided it for obvious reasons. Here was guaranteed freedom. And yeah, risk of death, but that was trivial. "Good to know another that likes the horizon. Though maybe this one's not best suited for you, if you want to see many more of them."
Wei felt a sort of kinship with this cheetah that he hadn't with any creature in a long time. Being one to act on feelings immediately, he stood up and rubbed against the male affectionately, not really thinking of whether he'd want him to or not. "Tell you what, come night I'll help steer you out of this sand trap and back to the green. I could stand to get some large game in my diet anyway."
