 The lioness had heard that her brother had joined a pride and was leaving their once tight family. One moment, things seemed crowded and full of laughter, the next, her two siblings had gone off to join prides and she was still with her father and mother....mostly because of her sight issues, but more so because she was afraid she'd miss them to death. But she had one day to spend with her brother before he was gone to the deserts, and she intended to spend one epic day with him before he left. "So what is it you want to do then, Bro?" she teased him, letting out a playful giggle. He was so much like dad, she could "see" that in him. "You know....before you leave me hangin." she teased again, giving him a soft nudge in the side.

 Vaikko loved his family more than anything. However, the male felt a very unique compassion for his sister Vashti. The special attention Vashti required, even before she went blind, forced a softer side out of the typically rough-and-tumble lion. He couldn't even imagine what it must be like to deal with the same curse their mother is dealing with... and he remembered how much hurt he felt in his chest when they found out Vashti was inflicted as well.
Vaikko gently licked his sister's forehead as she gave him a playful nudge. He wished he could stay, but the tug he felt was irresistible. He would miss his sister most of all. "Oh please, Vash~" Vaikko returned the teasing tone and pawed at her playfully. "Everyone knows you were dying to get rid of me. Just admit it." Vaikko snickered and braced himself for a much rougher nudge from the female.

Vashti rolled her eyes playfully and battered him with her paws as she giggled. "Right, right I always wanted you gone! Your such a trouble maker!" she teased and stuck her tongue out at him, bounding around him in a tiny circle like a playful kitten. "Which is why I'm wiling to get my paws dirty and spend the entire day with you, because I wont miss you!" she grinned triumphantly, like she had just discovered some secret that would save the world from utter peril. But of course it was all false. Inside she was aching, but she had seen it once, and she knew he would be well. Perhaps even make her an Auntie! Little pride nieces and nephews. That thought excited her and got her blood pumping. "So seriously. Want to resurrect one of dad's great adventures, or do you have one of your own you haven't showed me yet?" she said, wiggling her bum like an impatient little girl wanting a bit of candy.

Vaikko feigned utter shock as Vashti revealed her profound secret. His mouth hung open as he stared at her with wide green eyes. "See, I knew it! I knew it all along!" Vaikko lifted a dark paw to shove his sister, a delicate shove tailored especially for his sister. If it was anyone else, they would surely have gone tumbling.
"Pfff.. What I have in store is better than anything dad could ever come up with." Vaikko smirked, his competitive spirit flaring in his eyes at the thought of his father. "But you have to promise me something, Vashti..." Vaikko glanced at her, and his toothy grin glinting mischievously. "You can't tell him about it. It's a secret of mine, you know..." If there was one thing anyone could guess from first meeting Vaikko, it would be he didn't value secrets at all. It wouldn't matter to him if it was revealed or not. The word secret just put an interesting twist on things.
"Just follow my blur, sis. You'll love it, I promise." Vaikko teased and pranced ahead.

Vashti's tail flickered in suspense as she took his super soft special blow to the side. She couldn't wait to see what her brother had in store that could possibly be better than her dads. And enough so to keep secret. Lowering her voice to a hush hush whisper she giggled. "Alright. I promise. Your secret is safe with me!" she said as she said and watched his prancing blur leap and bound ahead of her. Grinning she sped up just a little, enough so that she was comfortable with running blindly, and nipped at his tail every time it blurred its way in front of her face. "Hurry uuuupppppuuuhhhh your too slllooooowwwuuuhhhhh!" she teased, flailing her feet at him. "I'm getting dirty back heeeeerreee~" she cooed in a sing song like voice. If she didn't torment her brother, well then she just didn't love him!

"You haven't even heard the best part, yet!" Vaikko noticed the anticipation in his sister's paw steps and decided to tease it until it was ready to rupture. "The best part... My faaavorite part of the whole thiiiing..." His voice trailed off casually, just as if he forgot what he was going to say... even though it was obviously extremely important.
He flicked his tail at Vashti as she complained about his speed, and then slowed his pace significantly. "Is this fast enough for you, sis?" Vaikko smirked, enjoying the torment just as much as he enjoyed tormenting his sister. "How about this? Is this fast enough?" He slowed down so much that he ended up behind his sister with a huge grin and a laugh.
"Well, there it is. You almost missed it, Vash." Vaikko smirked and lead her into a tight squeeze of a hole beneath a tall boulder. "It's a bit of a small hole, but if me and my fat mane can fit though, than you can too. You miiiiight get dirty though!" He had discovered this underground paradise during one of his many explorations of the savannah. He practically had a good five miles of land memorized with his experiences on his own.

Vashti giggled the entire way like a cub in utter bliss as she watched her brother's blur gradually wind up behind her. Spinning around just to be pushed back ahead and into a tiny hole, she let out a fake complaint. "Aarrhhg you know I hate getting dirty!" she whined as she puffed herself up fat so that they both would get stuck in the hole, particularly with her butt in his face. "I'm not mooovviiinnngggg its to dirty!" she cried, though her face held a secret smile. Deciding she had had enough of pretending to be stuck however, she popped out of the hole faster than fast and spun around to stick her face in as her brother was nosing his way out, trying to push him back in. "I changed my mind I don't want to see your thrilling adventure, I want to keep you here! With me, stuck beneath this boulder." she grinned and licked his nose.

Vaikko crammed himself in the hole. There was very little wiggle room, but the lion barely made it inside. But he couldn't make it any further! The tunnel to the cave had either shrunk... or he had grown! It must have been a very long time since he had been here!
"Argh, Vashti! Get your butt out of my face!" Vaikko pressed his forehead against Vashti and tried to push his sister from the tiny den he was stuck in... but she wasn't budging. And then, before he knew it, the butt was gone and a paw took its place. Vaikko gave Vashti a look that might convey his displeasure, but he was willing to put up with it because... well, because it was Vashti.
"Fine, that's okay. I'll just stay in here... I can't fit into the awesome cave I was gunna show you anyway." Vaikko said, sinking lower into the hole with a fake pout strewn across his face. "I guess I've outgrown my secret! I'm sorry to disappoint you, sis."

Suddenly stopping her giggles, Vashti sprawled herself out on her stomach as she watched her brother's fake pout. A soft mother like smile spread across her face as watched his still blur stop moving. "Aaw its ok Vai.... really. Any day with you is an adventure." she cooed and flailed one paw inside slowly and delicately at his nose. "Big bad Vai isn't gunna pout now, is he?" she teased, though she didn't actually know if he really was upset or not, and this slightly worried her.

Vaikko blew the dark grey mane from his face as dirt crumbled onto his muzzle. "Aww, Vashti... That means a lot to me." Vaikko reached out a paw from the hole to bat at her affectionately. "Hopefully... we can have more of these days. Just because I'm leaving doesn't mean we can never see each other again, sis." With a bit of effort, Vaikko wriggled his upper half from the hole and gave Vashti delicate nuzzle. "That won't keep me from missing you, though..."

The lioness giggled as her nose was licked as she grasped his head with her paws, giving him a brief nuzzle. "Your right, I know I can see you again....but it wont stop me from missing you either!" she said as she let go of his head and gave him a headbutt, thought it was slightly off center due to the fact that her blur was moving. She laughed and flicked her tail, trying to push away the sad moment. "So now what are we going to do? You can't join a pride if your butt is stuck in a hole." she giggled. "Stuckbutt, that will be your new pride name, I just know it!" she nodded.

"Pfff, Stuckbutt? I don't think so.." Vaikko attempted to launch himself at his sister to tackle her playfully. The hole thought otherwise, and kept him in stuck its rocky maw. Vaikko cringed. "You know... on second thought, it's rather fitting, isn't it?" He chuckled and squirmed until he was finally loose. "Ah-hah, there we go!"
Vaikko turned to his sister, a fond grin on his face, and a sudden serious tone in his voice. "Take care of mom and dad, huh? Maybe you can send Aotpo to the desert once in a while so I can send you messages and updates about life... But you'd have to send me updates, too!" The thought of Aotpo becoming a messenger bird amused the lion - he knew she would absolutely hate that job. But she'd learn to live with it.

"Oh what a brilliant idea! Make her a messenger bird!" she giggled as she too thought of the vulture flying reconnaissance for the two siblings. "Maybe Sihi can ride along on her back so they can carry double the information!" she giggled. She might have to get the bird to send a message to Vinata too sometime. But her smile fled as he brought up a more serious subject and she really found herself on the verge of tears. "I will take care of them. And let dad show me his amazing new adventures." she giggled, but a few tears dripped down her muzzle as she shook them away. "You have to leave soon, huh? If you want to make it back before its dark." she did her best to smile, but it was a sad smile.

"Hah, a messenger snake, and a messenger bird. Brilliant, Vashti." Vaikko's voice was laced with sarcasm as he shook the dirt from his mane.
"Yeah, I guess you're right." The dark lion nosed the tears from his sisters face, a pain stinging in his chest. He just hated to see his sister upset. "I guess this means... I'll see you later." Vaikko forced a smile and began to turn away. "I love ya sis. Go take a bath, you kinda stink after all that dirt-rolling." He chuckled, giving his sister one last pestering comment before beginning his journey home.

The lioness grinned and nodded her head. "I will! Don't get trapped anywhere else Stuckbutt!" she called after him, but he was too far gone. Already she planned in her head what her first message would be.
