The lioness was taking a rest, hanging from a tall boulder settled just beside a watering hole. It was rare for her to decide to rest from her constant traveling, but she just couldn't give up this spot... this warm stone, the sound of water lapping at the shore, it was just too perfect. Mimzi yawned and dreamed of the adventures she would have tomorrow when she started off again... Discovering new and bizarre creatures, encountering dangerous weather and narrowly escaping danger. Mimzi grinned, shifting a black paw to rest beneath her head.
Mimzi was so preoccupied with her fantastical daydreams that she didn't even notice the stranger in her presence. She twitched and shifted, finding an even warmer spot on the boulder to stretch onto. Sometimes imagination was just as good as the real thing. But it wouldn't be long until Mimzi was gone off again.

Slausale's leg had decided for her that she would be stopping early. It hadn't hurt this much in a long time. The cheetah wondered if there was a big storm blowing in. Her limp became ever more pronounced as she walked on, until she was barely making any progress at all. I need to stop as soon as I find a place.
Like a miracle a watering hole appeared before her. It was too good to be true, but Slausale wasn't in any shape to argue with it. Slowly she approached the edge of the water and knelt down to get a drink. There was something subtly wrong. She lifted her head and looked around for several long minutes until the water in front of her had stilled. Nothing jumped out at her, but when she turned back to the water that's when she spotted the bright colors. A reflection off the water that slowly drew her eyes fearfully upward. A lioness! The cheetah couldn't help but freeze. She hadn't been noticed yet.

A rumbling roar escaped from her throat as the lioness yawned. Her thrilling giant crocodile slaying daydream adventure was coming to a brilliant conclusion. Her red eyes flickered open as she returned to the physical world, and a new scent came to her nose. Curious, Mimzi flipped to lay on her belly and gazed over the edge of the boulder she was resting on. It took a moment for her tired eyes to focus, but soon she spotted a feline.
"Oh! Heya!" Mimzi didn't hesitate to make her presence known. Her high-pitched voice sounded and the lioness perked with a new disposition. Every meeting, every social encounter was unique, and Mimzi cherished them all. "Urh... Whatcha doin?" She asked, her head tilted as she realized the cheetah wasn't moving - not even a tail twitch.

Slausale quivered in her spot as she heard the lioness roar. Oh no! Now she'd done it. Why did this always happen to her? Hopefully she hadn't been noticed yet. The cheetah started to creep inch by inch away. She'd just slip off and hide until the......
She sees me! The cheetah flattened herself to ground. Maybe if I pretend I didn't hear her..... A couple more steps and she cringed when the lioness called out again. Reluctantly she looked up and gulped.
"I um.... oh nothing miss. Just leaving. Yes I was just leaving. So sorry to bother you. Ah... don't get up."

Mimzi stood on her paws, excited to greet the stranger with a hug or perhaps a friendly nudge. But her excitement was cut short with the tone of apprehension in the cheetah's voice. What's wrong? Was there a giant crocodile chasing after her? It took a moment for Mimzi to remember that those only exist in her imagination. But if that wasn't it, what could the problem possibly be?
"Leaving?" A frown appeared on the lioness's face as the cheetah continued to inch away. "But... I don't even know your name yet. Too busy to share a few words with a fellow lady feline?"
Mimzi gracelessly slid from the boulder and landed in the dirt with a loud thump. She approached the lioness without caution - clueless that she was the one causing the girl so much anxiety. "My name's Mimzi, what would yours be?" The lioness awaited an answer with a warm grin.

Slausale glanced back at the lioness. Her name? Why would a lion want to know her name? She was just a failed cheetah. Her eyes widened as the lioness called her a fellow lady feline. Perhaps it would be best to humor her. She didn't want to make her upset or anything.
"Ah... no, not too busy. I didn't want to intrude is all. Not a bother, nope not me." Oh how did she always get into these situations. Slausale wanted to wail in terror as the lioness came down from her boulder. As the lion came over she laid down and hid her eyes with her paws. She did not want to see those fangs coming at her, or the bite that was gonna kill her. But the expected death-blow never came; instead in its place, a question.
Timidly she peeked out from under her paws. "My name? But you don't want to know. I have horrible luck you see. It might rub off onto you. Nice to meet you Mimzi. I really should go now." That was the last thing she really wanted. Her leg hurt so bad.

Mimzi's brow twisted to express her utter confusion as the cheetah seemed to cower in terror. The lioness glanced behind her. If it wasn't a giant crocodile, what could it be? But she didn't see anything... there was only the two of them. Mimzi was yet to consider the possibility that she was the source of the fear.
"Horrible luck, is that right?" Mimzi tried to smile, but the concern she felt for the cheetah caused it to fail. "Well, I'm impervious to bad luck. So it's okay if I know your name, promise!" She nodded with all the confidence in the world.
A pout formed on the lioness's face as the cheetah mentioned she needed to leave. Well, that's just no fun at all. "Really? You seem pretty skiddish, are you sure you're not running from something?" Mimzi tilted her head, letting her bright yellow bangs swing in front of her face. "If you tell me what it is, I bet I can take care of it for you."

She tried to tell the lioness what dire straights she was in. Unfortunately lions didn't listen to cheetahs. Slausale felt miserable. Maybe she was immune to lion bad luck; when what about cheetah bad luck? She hesitated a bit longer.
"I'm..... Slausale." She cringed just slightly hoping they wouldn't regret this later. The pout nearly made her stiffen and fall over with fright. Oh no, she'd made her mad! Slausale had to remind herself to breathe then focused on her words.
"M-me? Skiddish? I... don't know what you're talking about. Not running." The cheetah gaped at Mimzi for her offer of care. It was unheard of! "Why? Why would you do that?" It was a nice offer and proved to her that she couldn't bring her bad luck to this nice lioness.
