As the sun rose on another lovely day in the Pridelands, Timiza'upeo sighed contently. He often woke up early in order to watch the sun rise, and today was no different. Once the lands were almost completely covered in the sun's rays, he made is way to the Pride's border.

The Pridelands were massive, so it took him a while to get to the border. He didn't mind though, as he had always been very active. Smiling as he walked, he peered out over the horizon, looking for any signs of movement. One of the things he loved about his Pride was how welcoming they were to strangers. There had been lots of new members arriving lately, so it would be nice for him to be able to greet someone on the border, should they wish to join the Pride.

The ebony coated female had been away from home for a great while. She had taken her leave of the relaxed and peaceful Nch'mahadhi, if only because she wanted to see a bit more of the world. She had heard stories of others that had wandered the rogue lands, stories of new prides and great adventure; she also had a small taste of the rogue lands while on her drum quest about two years prior. While it had been a bit frightening at first, leaving the security of her family and loved ones to find her own beat and rhythm, after the first night alone Fillira had come to enjoy the time.

Perhaps she had lingered a bit longer away from the prides lands then others her age, but the quest itself was an adventure she feared she might never get to repeat. There had been something fascinating about waking up in a land that was no ones. . . Part of Fillira had hoped then she might have met a few rogues or even stumbled across neighboring prides, but alas, her time on her quest had been rather solitary. She had found her own beat, her own rhythm, and since then had done her best to dance and laugh her way through life.

But curiosity had claimed the better of her. Her own mother was a rogue, and as much as she loved the Nchi'mahadhi, the young lioness wanted to do a bit more exploring. So it was with great excitement she was granted leave of the pride, if only for a little while. Picking a direction, Fillira gave her love to her family, picked up her drum, and donned a few shakers before heading out and away. . . What great stories she might return home with, what new dances and songs might she learn!

Days had turned in to weeks, and the young lioness was enjoying every minute of her exploration. The land had turned softer beneath her paws; greener grasses had become a welcoming sight, the fertility of the land a welcoming change from some of the drier areas she had crossed. But perhaps what excited Fillira more was that more and more new scents had tickled her nose. Wherever she was heading, a great many strangers had also passed . . . Could she perhaps be approaching a pride? It was likely.

A flash of something caught the corner of her eye as the black lioness looked around. It was but a dot on the horizon, small and easily over looked; but against the green grasses of the land, it was unmistakable. That was . . . a lion! Oooh, perhaps he was part of this land, or knew it well enough to give her an idea of who or what might be in the area! Fillira started towards Timiza'upeo, before she stopped and seemingly reconsidered.

He could be an aggressive sort. She shouldn't look too anxious, after all.
She flicked her tail and slowed her approach, attempting to keep an eye on the lion as well as aware of where her paws touched. She didn't want to unruly overstep the borders of this place and cause some great offense! That would be her luck . . . oi.

"Hello!" She finally called out, still a good distance from the stranger. Her steps had slowed, and she offered as amicable a smile as she could muster. This way, if the other looked irritated or aggressive, or somehow threatened her, she had time to bolt and space enough so he wouldn't be right on her tail. And her mother had been worried about her. . . pfft. She had this rogue-thing down to an art!

Timiza'upeo spotted the dark female at about the same time that she in turn spotted him. The golden male's ears perked as he stopped walking in order to watch the approaching female. When it came to strangers, there was always a little bit more pressure when it was a female. Although he wasn't the type who was eager to impress, he was the type that was eager to make a good first impression. He felt as though he was a representation of the Pride as a whole, and not just himself and his family.

With all that in mind, Timi smiled and gave a nod of acknowledgement towards the female, who ended up being the first to speak up. "Hello there!" He then lifted a paw to motion for her to come over. "Please, feel free to come the rest of the way. Or, if you would prefer, I can come and join you?"

Although she was still a fair distance away, Timi was quite sure that he didn't recognise her. Some rogues were more wary and cautious than others, which is why he offered to be the one to move. "Do you know where you are?" He asked curiously, just incase she was lost.

As the golden coated lion called out, Fillira couldn't help but feel a bit relieved. At least he didn't seem particularly aggressive. It was kind of him to offer to come to her, but while the black lioness was cautious, she felt no real threat. Everything seemed peaceful. Surely a lion who was going to cause her harm couldn't be so amicable . . . .right?

Maybe it was because she was young, maybe it was because she felt comfortable this morning, but the relaxed lioness wasn't one to worry too much about things. Besides, how long had it been since she actually met someone on her path? Too long. Fillira, while she could be independent, often preferred company than to be without. . . Her family was large, and her pride small enough everyone was close; they danced together, created music, laughed, and were a tight knit community. While wandering away from home had been a refreshing change, a small part of the lioness desperately craved some company.

Picking up her pace, she bridged the distance between herself and the golden lion. Her bright blue eyes took in his appearance - he looked healthy enough, and was a bright orange color. White markings touched his face, and created a sock-like appearance on his front paws. A handsome lion, to be sure, and one she hoped was as amicable as he appeared! He smelled of others, strange scents that were

Offering a small bow in greeting (a little awkward with her drum slung over her shoulder), Fillira gave the other a bright smile. "Actually I . . . really don't have any idea where I might be. I haven't met too many sociable rogues, and no real prides to speak of . . ." She gave a small, nonchalant shrug, not at all perturbed by this admittance. The rogue lands sprawled on forever, it seemed . . . .it was anything but overly crowded.

The golden lion continued to smile as the fermale made her way over to him. He liked the fact that she had chosen to trust him, but at the same time, there was nothing wrong with a bit of caution. As trusting and friendly as Timiza'upeo was, all Pride Landers had been forced to learn caution of rogues the hard way, as their old King Mufasa had been killed by one.

Still, that was a very long time ago, and old wounds had all but healed. It wouldn't do for Pride Landers to be distrusting and paranoid, so they just had to take each individual rogue as they came. As she came closer, Timiza'upeo couldn't help but notice that this particular rogue was very pretty. When she reached him, she bowed politely, causing him to do the same.

"Ah! Allow me to enlighten you then." Timi blinked as he pondered his choice of words. "Uh, well, not enlighten you. I'm sure you're very smart already. I just meant, I'll inform you of where you are...and stuff." It was clear thast the golden male had lost a little bit of his confidence now that the female was right in front of him.

He cleared his throat as he tried to regain his composure. "Ahem! You are in the Pride Lands. It's home to a rather huge Pride that have been here for a very long time." He smiled, somewhat sheepishly. "I was born here, as were my parents. We're very friendly, so you're welcome to pass through these lands if you wish. As long as you mean us no harm, no harm will come to you." The golden male tilted his head a little, once again considering his choice of words. "That's not a threat you know! I just meant that we won't harm anyone without good reason to do so."

This was going great.

Sorry for the super long delay!

As the golden lion spoke, Fillira couldn't help but be glad of this meeting. The stranger seemed quite sociable, and didn't seem to hesitate in offering to 'enlighten' her. But then, he seemed to suddenly trip over his words, as if he needed to explain himself! Her black ears pricked and turned towards him, her bright blue eyes gleaming with a growing amusement. The more the stranger seemed to speak, the more trouble he suddenly had!

Granted, while she appreciated him being so thorough in his explaining, it was completely unnecessary. The stranger hadn't said anything wrong, and certainly hadn't offended her! Really, he looked more and more anxious by the passing minute, as if his words were turning in to some insult! Oh dear . . . Maybe he didn't meet many rogues?

Unable to help herself, the ebony lioness couldn't help but chuckle warmly at the stranger. Oops, now she was being rude! "No need to explain yourself, friend. I'd appreciate enlightenment, as I will be the first to admit I am rather turned around and likely quite lost. Thankfully though," she added with a bright smile, "It's exactly as I wanted it to be. I'm in no rush to return to my own pride, and desperately wanted to see the world. This is as good a start as any, right?"

Oh, how she missed her small family. It was only now, conversing with this stranger, that she felt her need for others most strongly. How long had she been without good company or conversation? Worse, how long had she been away from music making and stories and dances and . . . . Well, she had her drum and the ability to create her own music, but conversation had been severely lacking.

But her thoughts were quickly snatched back to the present when he spoke of the pride he hailed from. Wait . . the Pride Lands!? "As in the Pride Lands!?" She spoke, a great smile crossing her features. "I've heard so many stories of such a large pride, and know of a small few who have visited before but . . . . I didn't realize I'd wandered that far!" Realizing her chatter probably made no sense, she gave another friendly laugh, mostly at herself.

"Forgive my poor manners! I'm Fillira, and I . . . hail from the Nchi'mahadhi. It's a small pride, likely not nearly as old or as long standing as the Pride Lands. But it's a good place to call home. And I promise, I mean no harm to you or your lands. . . I . . . I would absolutly love to pass through though, maybe . . . .stay on the borders for a few days? I've actually never stumbled upon another pride, so I don't exactly know how to request such things."

Her excitement had caused her tail to weave in excitement, causing the shakers hanging loosely from it to jingle. In fact, she had practically bounced on her paws in her excitement to explore and meet a new pride, and new faces. So she was easily excitable at times. . . . it wasn't a bad thing, even if she didn't realize how ridiculous she might look.

(( Same here! Also, don't forget about our Kitwana RP! blaugh ))

The dark female seemed very friendly, and although she did have a little laugh at the way he was speaking, she didn't seem to be doing it in a bad way. Timiza'upeo often found himself tripping over his words when it came to females, although he had never managed to figure out why. This one seemed very understanding though, which put him at ease somewhat. Which was strange, because if anyone should need putting at ease, surely it's the female who's become lost!

At the female's shock at having found herself in 'the' Pride Lands, as she had put it, Timiza'upeo laughed and gave a big nod of his head. "That's right." He said with a smile. "We're pretty well known, although, I've never been entirely sure to what extent." When the female mentioned that she had travelled far, it intrigued him that she would know about them. Was knowledge of the Pride Lands really that far reaching?

When she mentioned her poor manners, Timiza'upeo blinked and shook his head. "No! It's my manners that are bad!" Such a weird statement, but he didn't want the female to female bad. "I'm Timiza'upeo. Pleased to meet you Fillira! Rest assured that you are more than welcome to stay here on the borders for as long as you need to."

After he said this, his tilted his head a little. "Actually, I'm pretty sure that it would be OK for you to stay in my family's den." The golden male would have to double check the rules on this, but it seemed pretty harsh to just leave the female on the borders. "I'd just have to ask one of the higher ups, just to be sure."

Tag! For both our RPs actually, bwahaha. No rush though m'dear!

Thankfully for Timiza'upeo, Fillira was completely oblivious and unaware of his past record with females, or his anxiousness around her gender! She was of a good hearted nature, and while laughter often lurked near the surface, it was never a malicious sort. Good humor ran deep in her family, and her pride was so laid back and relaxed it was only natural for the ebony lioness to carry it on her shoulders.

Meeting Timiza was no exception to the rule.

To her, he seemed a proper gentleman! Not only had he greeted her most amicably, but he was actually offering to let her in on the pride lands! To offer up his home, his families den. . .to a complete stranger at that! The surprise that lined her features was genuine, though she was quick to smile warmly up at him. "Such generosity! Trust me, I have no intention of over staying my welcome, or causing trouble in any sense of the word. You are far too kind to offer a stranger such a setting. I have no qualms residing near the borders, but . . " She glanced around before giving another small laugh. "Is there perhaps a watering hole nearby? I . . . I am quite parched." The thick layer of dust that lined her fur seemed to second this nature.

How long had Fillira been on the move? Quite a while . . . To spend some time in a great pride, or even in the shadow of a great pride, would do her well. Besides, she hoped perhaps her new friend would be willing to share some stories and songs and traditions of the Pridelands. Something she could carry back with her upon her return to the Nchi'mahadhi . . . and in turn, perhaps she could teach him some of her own lifestyle, full of music, dance, and song.

Only after a drink though, and perhaps time to rest her paws.

Again, sorry for the epic wait! XP; Excuse given in our other RP!

The golden male smiled warmly, and perhaps even blushed a little under those golden cheeks as Fillira complimented him on his generosity. "Oh, it's nothing, really!" When she mentioned that she would like a drink, Timiza'upeo gave a big nod of his head. "Yes of course! Right this way." With that, he motioned for her to join him at his side, so that they could make their way to the nearby watering hole.

As they started walking, Timiza'upeo's purple eyes couldn't help but fall on the large 'thing' that Fillira was carrying on her back. "Um..." He started. "I hope you don't mind me asking but...what is that thing on your back?" It looked like it was made from wood, and maybe animal skin? It must've served a purpose of course, but he was completely oblivious to what it could be.

No worries at all! : D I hope you had a fabulous time!

Fillira was absolutely delighted at the outcome of this morning. Not only had she stumbled upon one of the most notorious prides in the area, but she had been met by a most friendly individual! Surely the spirits smiled down upon her, and she couldn't wait to learn more about the Pride Lands, and her new found acquaintance.

Trotting towards Timza, she bridged the distance between the two of them, and took up walking side by side. She wasn't a shy female, and certainly had no objection being lead to a water source. Really, their generosity was reminiscent of her own home lands. The Nchi'mahadhi were quiet and small, but they were open and loving towards strangers. It was nice to meet a stranger who seemed not at all adverse to a newcomer . . . .

She kept her eyes alert, eating in the different landscape and scenery hungrily. Still, his question did cause her a moment confusion, and she actually had to glance behind her to see what he was asking about. Her drum. While Fillira understood that not every pride had music or even an interest in such things, she was unaware that some basic instruments might not have been common knowledge. Her tail was decorated with shakers, but she figured the drum would indeed be a sight.

Giggling a bit, the lioness was only to happy to inform him of the strange object. "It's a drum. I built this one a year ago, actually, after my first drum broke. This is larger though, sturdier than the one I designed during my Drum Quest. It's meant to be played, for music, to carry a beat one can dance to . . or sing to . . or chant or hum . . . ." She tilted her head at him inquisitively. "Is there much music found here in the Pride Lands?"

Uta
Thanks for understanding!

Timiza'upeo smiled at the female as she walked beside him. Very closely beside him, without any hint of shyness or awkwardness. If only could be that confident.

"Oooh, I see. That's wonderful!" He said with a laugh. "That means that you're able to carry your music with you wherever you go. How very clever of you to have built such a thing." When she asked about the musical interests of the Pride Lands, Timiza'upeo nodded and grinned. "Yes, we're all pretty musical here. Although I'm not aware of anyone who creates items such as your drum, there are some that will just use the rocks and the trees to strike up a beat." He suddenly grew a bit more excited. "Oh! There's a lot of very good singers in this Pride! The prey beasts that share our land are also very talented. I know this one zebra that-" He cut off and shook his head playfully, grinning somewhat sheepishly. "I'm sorry, I'm rambling."

His smile grew a little bit more sheepish, when suddenly he realised that he was staring at her as he had been speaking! Quickly, he turned his head so that he was facing forward, hoping that he hadn't freaked her out by looking at her so intensely for a little while. Luckily, the watering hole had just come into view. "Oh look, there it is!" He said before hurrying ahead, hoping that he hadn't completely embarassed himself.

(( LOL, this bit in The Lion King II always made me laugh because all of the prey animals are such epic singers. Especially the Zebras! ))

I hope you don't mind me quoting the RP. It's easier than me tagging stuff in thread. : P

Fillira chuckled as he called her clever. "Everyone in my pride knows how to make a drum," she admitted with a nod of head. "Music is ingrained in our way of life. As a juvenile, we make our very first drum, and as an adolescent we're sent on a great quest to find our own rhythm, our inspiration, if you will." She thought for a moment about how long ago that had been. It was during her own quest that the ebony lioness had discovered how much she absolutely loved to travel . . . . which is what had ultimately brought her here!

But that wasn't important. What fascinated the lioness even more was how he admitted the talent of the Pride Lands! As he continued to describe the differences in style, as well as how they could sing as well, Fillira's own blue eyes grew bright with delight. Ooooh, how wonderful! Surely her paws had brought her to a most spectacular land. "You know this one zebra that. . . .?" She encouraged with a laugh, giving the shaker on her tail a little happy shake. "You can't just stop there without finishing your story. Please, do continue. . I promise you're not rambling, I'd love to hear more!" Her words were genuine, laced with sincerity even as she pleaded with him.

If he'd been staring, she hadn't noticed or been perturbed by such a thing. They were talking, after all, it was only natural to look at one another. Thankfully for Timiza'upeo, even if she HAD noticed, she wouldn't have said anything. Fillira was far too good humored to let things get to her. Ears flicking forward, she trotted after the lion even as the watering hole came in to view. It didn't look anything like the Great Lake she had grown accustomed to in the Nchi'mahahadi lands, but . . . it was beautiful to her at this very instance. It was only seeing the cool waters that reminded her tongue just how parched it was. "It's perfect," she chimed in, quite pleased at her arrival.

Everything here just looked . .. bigger. . .and greener. . . and just so different! It was wonderful.

=D Of course not! I think it's the best way to do it.

Having never left the Pride Lands, Timiza'upeo was highly interested in listening to all that Fillira had to say about her own Pride. In a way, he envied her, as he was far too attached to his home to leave it, even if it was only temporary. Still, it was clear that she was also very attached to her home, so he thought she was very brave and courageous to have left it in order to see the World. "So even juveniles can make these?" He said with a hint of awe as he looked over the drum once more.

When the brown female pushed him for more imformation on the zebra that he had mentioned, he joined her in laughing as well. "There's nothing to tell really. I was just going to say that he's an exceptional singer. Probably one of the best singers in the Pride Lands." He grinned. "No one would ever eat a creature as talented as that. To say that we live in harmony in these Lands is an understatement." That was his attempt at a joke. He let out another laugh, although this one seemed a bit more forced. He had never been all that good at telling jokes.

Clearing his throat as he attempted to move on from the possibly failed joke attempt, he looked about the watering hole. He then turned back to Fillira, tilting his head slightly as he did so. "You said you had to find your own rhythm and inspiration. Were you able to find it?"

The dark coated lioness gave a firm nod at Timiza's question. "We can! Granted, the drums we make are significantly smaller than this, usually from a sort of gourd. But that basic knowledge is a start, and allows us to eventually make some like this, and others that are even bigger." She appreciated that the lion seemed genuinely interested in conversing with her and about her pride. She didn't want to take up too much of his time, after all -- who knew if he had duties to attend? And what if she was interrupting his morning!?

Fillira was delighted to learn about the singers of the pride. The Nchi'mahadhi would be delighted to learn about the Pride Lands and its found to seemingly endless hospitality and talent. She hoped she might get to see some of these singers in action, and certainly desired to learn a song or two before she returned. Just something she could bring back. . . .

Filira's ears pricked when the blond lion suddenly made a joke. Harmony. She chuckled a bit, delighted that her companion was so cordial and good natured! He was funny, in a sweet way, and she was very glad the spirits had let her bump in to him on the border. Before she had an opportunity to actually respond, her new friend asked about her journey, and whether or not she found a rhythm.

Smiling brightly, the lioness gave a firm nod. She trotted a few paces ahead of him, before turning around to face him. "I did. It took longer than I had thought it might, but I realized the soft pads of my paws were all the rhythm I needed. It was the travel and the adventure that spurned me on, that drove my song. The freedom to do what I wanted, when I wanted. . . . That was my inspiration." She smiled at him, eyes bright. "If you ever have the time, or interest, I'd be happy to play its rhythm for you." She didn't want to force him to listen to her, or her rhythm, if he wasn't interested. She also didn't want to continue to harass the poor fellow and make him play babysitter to the newcomer, even if he didn't appear to mind.

^^ I think we can start finishing this off soon, and maybe RP them again? <3 I think they seem lovely together, so I would love for them to be mates and to have cubs! What do you think? Your girl would have to join the Pride Landers though. X_X Can't remember how joining works.

"That's amazing, really." He said with a smile, hoping that she could see that he was being genuine. His smile grew wider when she actually laughed at his joke, which did wonders for his confidence. He seemed to be growing more and more at ease with her by the minute. It was a shame that she was from a different Pride, as he was sure that she would eventually have to return there.

Timiza'upeo tilted his head slightly when Fillira described where she had found her rhythm. He thought it would have come from something like one of her instruments, or a beat that she had invented herself. It was somewhat comfusing to him that she had found her rhythm in freedom and exploration. With that in mind, he nodded enthusiastically. "I would be honoured to hear it, if you are happy to share it." He looked at the watering hole. "Don't you want to rest first though?" A small but cheeky grin touched his face. "Your paws will be at their best once you've had a rest. Haha, that rhymed!" Timiza'upeo laughed. "It looks like your rhythm is rubbing off on me already."
