User ImageAfter the battle, Jenk had to practically run to catch up the girl who'd stalked off without a word. It was rude, sure, but she couldn't be blamed. Jenk could remember fairly well how she hated losing, especially to Martin Jr. or her father. It was humiliating. She trailed the girl outside, and looked around, furrowing her brow. Where had she gone?

The flash of red directed her towards where River was heading, so she whistled sharply. The same whistle from the battle. And then, she waved. "Hey! River!" She called, staying by the stadium doors so she would be easy to spot. Might as well try to ease the kid's hurt from the loss. Twice in a row to the same person was a devestating thing to even the strongest trainers. It shook the confidence.

Jenk could relate.

River had long since thrown her hood over her head and tilted her head downward in a vain attempt to conceal the tears that were slowly rolling down her alabaster complexioned cheeks. It really just wasn’t fair. How could she have lost?

‘Your temper dumbass. You keep letting people shake your nerves. You go in full throttle then get creamed because you don’t think. I’m such a f-ck up.’ The mental brutality that she threw at herself stung just as painfully as the recent loss. Out of all of the battles she had only won once. And that was by sheer luck.

Lifting her long fingers to her cheek River brushed away the salty wetness that littered her angular face. She looked so ugly when she cried and she knew it. The sudden piercing noise that cut through the chilled evening air caused the youth to blink rapidly, there was no way that someone was calling her.

Hey! River!

Well s**t. That was completely unexpected. She didn’t want to turn around, she didn’t want the gorgeous victorious trainer to see her being so emotional. Keeping her shoulders squared River couldn’t help but stand frozen in place. This wasn’t happening. There was no way that this was happening.

“What?!” Bitterly snapped the overly-thin former ballerina without turning to face the blonde. “Do you wanna rub it in more or what?!”

"Don't be ridiculous." By this point, since it was obvious River wasn't coming to her, Jenk left the stadium door and headed over to the teenager, putting her hands in her pockets. "Winners don't brag. And if they do, they're not winners, they're jerks." She stopped behind River, knowing that the girl probably didn't want her to see her face upset.

She couldn't blame her, really. No one was pretty when they cried. Especially if makeup smeared.

"I was going to offer to go get a cup of coffee or something." She said simply, shrugging a shoulder at her and smiling a bit. Come ooooon.

The bitc---

The woman had a point. People that bragged really weren’t winners, just pompous jerks. The sigh that escaped her chest left her feeling deflated and small, tilting her chin upward the crimson haired youth shivered against the wind as it kicked up and teases her long unkempt tresses.

The movement was so painfully slow that River could feel each twitch in her muscles as she eased to face the blonde trainer. “You mean it? You wanna take me out for coffee… like….” her voice cracked as she spoke. “As a date or…” again her voice faltered, shivering yet again the slender framed girl brought her palms up and rubbed at the chilled skin on her upper arms. She honestly needed to put on her winter gear but during the day the sun felt so amazing on her skin that she couldn’t resist the seductive rays of vitamin disambiguation. It just made her happy having the warmth on her bare flesh even if later on she shivered and quaked from the brutal cold that comprised her sleepless nights. “Is this a pity thing?” She asked in earnest, pale face completely stoic.

"It's not out of pity." Jenk assured, snorting a little. "Pity's even worse than bragging, in my opinion. You fought well. If Meksuda hadn't gotten that upshot of strength at the end, you might've beaten me. Consider it... something of a post-battle victory drink. You, for fighting well, and me for winning." She smiled at River encouragingly.

"But it's not a date." She added as clarification. Just in case. "You're cute, sweetheart, but I'm a bit too old for you." Whether she liked girls or not aside, Jenk was mindful to not date those too much younger than her. Blake had been a year and a half younger and the b*****d had gone and cheated on her. It was just a touchy subject.

"C'mon." She nodded, starting to walk away. "There's a place on the corner that has really good hot chocolate." Which was just the way to end a battle.

Not a date. Figured.

Rubbing at her eyes River squinted her exhausted looking baby blues while following behind the older woman. “I’m not that much younger,” she snipped moodily. She couldn’t help herself, she really couldn’t. Grunting slightly the lithe framed tomboy flicked the silver loop at the corner of her mouth.

‘She always loved it when I made hot chocolate…’ For a moment the nineteen-year old trailed off reflecting on her own past, about the true love of her life. It had been so long she could barely remember her face or her voice, trembling as the wind cut into her River allowed herself to drop her show of false bravado and huddled closer towards Jenk.

“I could really go for a hot chocolate…and maybe something to eat if they have entrees there,” candidly stated River, her tone softer and more pleasant. Really she was a scrawny young woman and as the wind howled with the bitter kiss of years end the long legged trainer stumbled against the crisp evening gale. A girl her age should weight more, certainly. “So I get to treat right? Since you are the big winner.” An impish grin spread across her angular, narrow face as she spoke.

She grinned a bit. "I'm not so sure." She argued, shaking her head at the moody snipe. Still, she was walking with her, so Jenk still counted it in her favor. The wind blew sharply, picking up around them, so Jenk hurried it along to the little cafe on the corner, opening the door for River to go in first.

"They do." She nodded to her question of whether they had food. "I come here after every battle, really." She grinned a bit. "It's a nice way to wind down. And they let certain pokemon out of the balls here." She added, though she made no move to release either of her pokemon. Mek deserved a rest, and she wasn't sure how Cersei would do in the presence of another Murkrow.

"I'm not one to turn down a free hot chocolate." She laughed. "If you want to pay, by all means. Otherwise..." Jenk had the money, thanks to her father, to live well enough with a few side jobs here and there that her brothers sent along. Mostly favors to her brother's friends, but money was money. She glanced around, noting with a smile that it was relatively empty, and headed up to the counter to order.

Darting into the café River let out a very pleased groan as the wind ceased tearing into her lean frame. Shivering as the warmth of the restaurant permeated into her frigid, almost icy body. It was amazing exactly how cold she could become in such a short amount of time given the right conditions.

“Pokey friendly? That is great to hear. I haven’t ever been here before,” which was refreshing. Normally she stalked the same burger joints over and over again until she was a regular, it wasn’t that she didn’t like change she just preferred when people knew whom she was and treated her in a friendly manner. “You wouldn’t mind if I brought Lookit, my zubat, out would you?” River posed the question in a sweetened girlish tone, her hand was already stroking the pokeball that belonged to her favourite purple pudge bat.

As the two neared the counter the longhaired tomboy edged closer to Jenk, her pale blue eyes scanned the menu clicking her tongue against the back of her teeth pondering the choices.

Oh my gosh! Do you know who you are?” Excitedly began the waiter as he gawked at River a bit awe struck and wide eyed. Grimacing ever so slightly the nineteen-year old edged closer to Jenk tucking herself behind her in effort to hide. “You are so totally Melody Kingston! Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Can I have an autograph? Pah-la-eese!” Annoyingly begged the overly flamboyant male in a sing-song tone that caused the former dancer to press her face into Jenk’s back.

“Sorry,” she muttered flatly. “My name is River. Not----” she was half tempted to lie however suddenly her face went ashen as she recalled that she was the one paying for the expenses of the outing. “Just shut the hell up, gimme a napkin and for the love of psyducks keep your voice down.” Gruffly urged the longhaired trainer. This was so embarrassing. The heiress to the Kingston name moved closer towards the young man and brushed her scattered bright locks out of her eyes, a subtle darkness gleaming in the softly colored hues. “We want two hot chocolates and bring us a sampler platter and a basket of hot wings please.” Reaching out with her left hand the redhead gripped the pen that the boy offered, haphazardly taking the writing instrument between her fingers in a high poised manner, with elegant, careful strokes the hoodie clad female signed the scrap of paper:

Stand tall and stretch for the stars. This life is your stage and you are the lead, so smile brightly and dance your solo to your own beat.

Melody R. Kingston

Jenk smirked. "Go ahead," she replied, nodding to the pokeball that River had grasped as she worded the question. "I'd take Cersei out, but she's... Not great in enclosed spaces. And Mek needs his break." As much as Mek liked to trail along beside her, she had to appreciate his need for rest. Otherwise they'd get burned out. Besides, Mek was a bit serious... She walked to the counter with her, eying the menu, when the waiter started to gush.

She blinked, looking down, and quirked an eyebrow as he gushed at, as it became apparent, River. She looked over, lifting both eyebrows. Melody Kingston? Really? Though she certainly wasn't one to keep tabs on celebrities, ocassionally they had to be taken in on her radar. Jimmy was a fan, so of course she knew of Melody Kingston. She just smiled calmly as River alternated between lying and just doing it, and waited as she ordered, watching her scribble out the note.

After that, she caught her arm, and looked at the waiter, smiling. "We'll be at table four, by the window." She said simply, turning and starting to walk River away from the waiter fanboy. To her credit, she lasted all of the ten steps it took to get to the table and even managed to sit down before she looked over at River and smirked slowly.

"So. A celebrity." Because now it was too much not to ask. Curiousity mode activated.
PostPosted: Sat Dec 03, 2011 9:46 am

The wildfire of heat that claimed her pale cheeks was enough to kindle flames as she lowered her athletic frame into one of the chairs at table four. This was all so very embarrassing, she would need to do something to deter her small fan base from noticing her, perhaps changing her hair color? That was a thought.

Flicking her tongue across the silvered loop at the right corner of her mouth the former dancer flustered further as the other woman posed the question. The chances that she had actually heard of her was slim however there was no denying the fact that she was in fact a celebrity, at the small end of the spectrum of fame however still on the radar just the same.

“Yeah, you could say that,” she stated, her tone hinted at a vain attempt to belittle the fact. Folding her long, elegant fingers across the surface of the table the youth let out a tiny sigh, she was a better dancer than she was a trainer that was for certain, everyone knew her for whom she was not as whom she was trying to be. Really it was pathetic. “I used to be a classical dancer from a rather prestigious traveling theater. About two years ago I went mainstream and started dancing and choreographing for popular artists and group performers. My name kinda got big for a while,” fidgeting in her seat the crimson haired trainer attempted to make herself seem smaller as if trying to disappear completely from view. “The only good part is I have my own funds, when I came out my grandparents cut off my trust fund. My net worth as Melody Kingston is roughly forty-seven million, as River though substantially less. I have half of my assets tied up in various stocks and properties the other half I live off of. Gah I sound like such a socialite snob. Ugh.”

Jenk listened as River spoke, laughing at the last sentence. "You don't sound like a snob." She promised, snorting a bit. "Financially investing is a wise move. It's easy to spend money you have on hand." She knew that all, all too well. "My mother was a performer. Not a dancer, a singer, but just the same..." She snorted a bit, shaking her head. "My brother's a fan of yours. Or he was, last I talked to him. Jimmy's likes tend to shift as the years go on." Jimmy was fickle like that.

She nodded towards Lookit's pokeball, amused. "Shouldn't you let the little guy out?" And like that, Jenk was offering a way for River to change the subject. It was clear she wasn't comfortable with her fame; if she'd gone as far as to cut her family out of the equation to get away from it, Jenk didn't see the point in dredging up bad memories. She fingered the still-empty pokeball at her neck, thinking for a moment about her father, but drew herself out of the thoughts when their hot chocolate came. She picked her mug up, happily, and took a sip without waiting for it to cool.

The sudden change in topic caused the teen to let out an audible sigh of relief. This woman was far more kind than what River had regarded her as, plucking the pokeball from her belt the youth stared down at the red and white capture device that she grasped between her forefinger and thumb. “I have to warn you, he really is fat. Gimme a second won’t ya?” Standing up from her spot at the table River pushed in her chair as she took a few steps away from their dining location and disappeared towards the opposite side of the café.

Letting out a grunt the trim figured dancer came back a moment later dragging a highchair with her as she approached. Pushing the child seat into place beside her own chair River let out a tiny giggle before finally pressing the release button on Lookit’s ball.

Jubilation, mirth, and overall joy filled the room the moment that the pudgy zubat emerged from his carrying device, a happy squeal erupted from the purple winged creature as he spread his wings and zoomed towards his owner. Wrapping his wings around her head Lookit pressed against the girl and brought his snout against her forehead and proceeded to give her tiny, wet bat kisses. Cooing softly the heavyset male peeked towards Jenk with an eyeless stare, his small brow raised questioningly for a moment. Sniffling at the air he then trilled towards the older woman greeting her in a manner that seemed pleasant and friendly, he remembered her from the last time they battled, he had no hard feelings towards the human or her pokemon thanks to them he was even stronger than he was before. Wiggling his large ears and wagging the tips of his wings in greeting he then settled himself into his trainer’s slender arms.

“Come on sweetie, mommy is gonna set you in your highchair so we can eat. Does that sound good?” Her tone was soft and candid as she spoke toward her pokemon almost as if forgetting that the other woman was still in her presents. Purring out a retort in a deep set rumble from his chest Lookit tucked his wings against his body, lowering the pudgy bat into the seat and securing him in place the tomboy then brought him closer towards the table with a gentleness of a mother. Running her hand over his tuff of purple fur at the top of his head River affectionately stroked him, completely lost in her own world.

After a few moments the teenager lifted her own mug that had already began to cool, heaving the canter to her lips the redhead blew on the creamy chocolate substance, leaning closer to her companion River brought the liquid up to his snout and offered it towards him first. “Careful baby, it’s hot. You gotta be careful.” She whispered in a silken tone then lifted her vision towards Jenk and smiled. “Isn’t he the cutest?”

Jenk watched with bemusement at the way River treated her pokemon. She was certain any of the rough and tumble pokemon her brothers and father had would've bit her hand off at least once for treating them like that, but the zubat absolutely loved it, it seemed. She grinned a little at the zubat's snuffling and trilling. At least it was cute, in its own eyeless way.

"He is." She nodded in agreement, seeing no other way to answer that. Really, saying a person's pokemon wasn't cute was on par with calling them a dork. Just not something you did if you had the manners and forethought. "He's like a little baby." That was genuine, though, and she found herself smiling. "None of mine act like that." She noted with amusement. It wasn't a bad thing, of course. A pokemon's personality translated well with the trainer, usually.

Jenk just wasn't the sort to coddle.
PostPosted: Wed Dec 14, 2011 12:32 pm

For a long while Lookit simply snuffled at the hot confection before him in attempt to cool the drink as instructed by his trainer. Knitting his brow together in a fuzzy purple line of focus, cautiously a tiny pink tongue darted out and claimed the foamy head of the cacao, for a moment the zubat seemed as if he were about to erupt with a squeal of jubilation however the noise that left his snout was that of a breathy content sigh.

Zuuu~

An icy blue stare lifted from the winged creature enjoying the comforts of chocolate towards the older woman that sat beside her. Tangling thin digits into messy crimson wisps of unruly hair the nineteen-year old recovered almost flawlessly from her display of pampering and babying her pudgy companion.

“So, tell me a little bit about yourself and your pokemon,” curiosity played in her cool eyes as she scanned the woman’s face as if searching for the answers before they were voiced. “Your brothers must be really strong trainers since their pokemon are so tough, do you have any pokemon of your own?”

Jenk blinked as the conversation was turned to her and her own pokemon. She smiled a little. "I only have two," She said, amused. "One of whom you met, Meksuda. He was my brother's Pokemon long before he was mine, but... Jensen prefers fighting types. Eevee was a gift from an admirer, I believe." To be fair, Meksuda was enough of a fighter for Jenk, but Jensen always did prefer Hitmonlees.

"I have six brothers." She explained, kicking back. "The majority of them are trainers. Jimmy, my youngest brother, he's a musician." She waved it off. Though she loved all her brothers, Jimmy was a Singer, and she didn't tolerate a musician's flippant nature. "Everyone of them, save Jimmy, was either a trainer, a Gym Leader, or something in between." She grinned. "But me? I just travelled. Visited all of them, or else took care of my Dad. It wasn't until I got divorced that I got bit by the battling bug."

It was much later, honestly, but she didn't feel the need to be specific. "After I got Meksuda, a few days later, this little lady showed up." She held up a Pokeball that held Cersei, her Murkrow. But she didn't release the Murkrow from her ball, just to keep from crowding the table. Cersei certainly wasn't robust, but her feathers had a way of getting everywhere.

"What about you?" She asked, kicking back. "When'd you get bit by the Trainer bug?"
