School had a pretty slow start for the gimblewolf. He'd taken for ever to unpack his room for one. Now his dorm was completely unpacked and he'd been to his first class. Showing up to class had proven to be more fun then the thought. Though, he reminded him self that was just acting. Other classes that had more substance the monster had yet to step foot in. It always seemed the gimblewolf was for ever aimlessly wandering about the campus. Some how, his journey had brought him to the swamp. The beat in his headphones had distracted him so much it wasn't until he stepped in to a big puddle of mud that he even realized where his aimless wanderings had taken him. There was a dark frown on his face. " Great.." There went a perfectly good pair of red sneakers. The monster lifted his foot and stared. There wasn't even a second thought to throwing his sneakers out in to the swamp. Now he was barefoot in the swamp. It actually felt a little more natural to the monster.

As it happened, Neil was not alone in the swamp. Anna was there too, but those who had only seen her in her petticoats and skirts might find it hard to believe that she was the same ghoul. Gone were the white gloves, tights, and even her hat. Her white hair was pulled back in a loose braid, and she was wearing her grubbiest clothes: rough blue jeans, knee-high galoshes, and a mud-spattered waterproof coat. She held a mucky bucket in one hand, and her familiar was nowhere in sight.
Sometimes, a country ghoul had to get dirty. That went double for hedge witches. Especially hedge witches who were concerned about their magic and looking for some way, any way, to fix it. Belladonna's book had given her the idea of reconnecting with the earth, and she'd wanted some herbs anyway. So here she was, knee-deep in mud and slime, stubbornly tugging plant after plant out of the muck and depositing them in her bucket.
She didn't seem to have noticed the boil as of yet...

Anna did not go unnoticed by Neil. At first, he thought he was maybe seeing things. Maybe. But, nope, there was a ghoul deep knee in muck pulling at what looked like weeds to Neil. Of course, he didn't recognize this ghoul as the girl who went 'boo' in acting class. He wasn't sure who this was. Very quietly, the boil made his way down to the shore of the murky swamp. That was, he tried to be quiet. The slippery-ness of the muddy shore had been under estimated and Neil found him self slipping fast and hard in to the muck of the swamp causing a big SPLASH. Now the boil just wanted to lay in the swamp and not face who ever was pulling at those weeds. He wanted to die. But the gimblewolf came up any way and shook his head free of the slime and muck. Or he tried at least.

SPLASH!
Suddenly, Anna was drenched as a wave of water and muck and slime broke over her. It was too much - with a shriek, the witchling slipped and fell, creating a counter-splash that sent yet another wave heading outwards.

He was hit in the face with another wave of water. The boil attempted to shield him self with his arms but it was to late. Clearly, the soaked Neil was not amused at the least. His expression softened though when he noticed that the ghoul was gone."JACK!" He wadded through the mucky slimey water over to where he'd seen the ghoul. He dug at the water the way a dog might when burying a bone. She hadn't drowned had she? No one drowned that fast! "DONT DIE!" He dug faster at the water.

Anna pushed herself upright with a gasp as water cascaded off her - there was slime everywhere, and she now looked more like a slime monster than the witchling she was. Another series of splashes that sailed right past her head, combined with the cry of DON'T DIE! drew her attention to the person whose fault this was.
That boil from acting class. He looked really messy too, but she recognized his voice. The fact that he was hoping she wasn't dead wasn't much consolation.
"H-how could you!" Anna wailed, still sitting down in the water. "You're the meanest boil EVER and the water's not that deep, stupid!!" Angry, frustrated tears rolled down her face... not that anyone could tell, what with the swamp water and all.

And there was the head tilt and dumb founded look on the boils face. Huuuuh? He felt like he was being skulded, his ears pinned back and he actually felt him self coward a bit. To add to the effect the boils tail was momentarily placed between his legs. Just for a moment.
She was upset. Why was she upset? Neil was so confused it hurt.
"Meanest boil EVER?" He frowned at that. His composure had regained by this time. "I'm not stupid! Your stu-" Wait she was upset? The boil made his way through the slime and the muck to sit beside the ghoul. What was he supposed to do. She was clearly upset and some how this was all his fault. It was hard to keep his cool in such a situation. Awkwardly, very awkwardly, he reached out to touch her back and pat it. Was this what you did when a ghoul was upset?
"I'd offer my jacket to dry you off but. You know. Your SPLASH totally ruined it," He coughed. It was a lie, he'd ruined it before Anna had fallen over and splashed back.

"M-my splash?! I fell down because of your splash!" Anna sat ramrod-straight, her arms crossed over her chest; she didn't even flinch at the boil's awkward attempts at back-patting. "I wasn't doing anything to you!"

"Whoah whoah whoah whaoh!" Neil had his arms up now. "YOUR that ghoul from acting class. The one with the boo." Now it dawned on him just who he was talking too. But still, he was confused to why she was upset. He made a tskkkk sound and then started to attempt to clean his face from the muck. Not that it did any good, there was a lot of swamp on him right now.
"Well if you hadn't been in the way of MY splash you'd be just fine now hmmmm?" Okay this wasn't helping her be any less upset.

"You did that on purpose," Anna accused, struggling to her feet and dragging her bucket up out of the water; the plants within had either fallen out or become thoroughly sodden. In one motion, using all the strength in her arms, she swung the bucket up and upended the contents over Neil's head.
Two could play at this game.

Anna had gotten up and the bucket had been poured over his head. Neil sat there, confused, as water and muck poured all over him. He was stiff. A ghoul had just poured water all over him.
Two could play that game. The tall and lengthy boil stood up and splashed a bit of water toward the ghoul. For a moment he'd forgotten that he was dealing with a ghoul. Instead he was dealing with the person who had just poured a bucket of water on top his head.
"Now I did that on purpose," He gave her a cocky smirk.

The additional water didn't faze Anna one bit - after all, she was already totally disgusting, dirty, slimy, everything ruined. There wasn't anything else the boil could do to her that hadn't already been done! "What is your problem?" she demanded, using the bucket to scoop another wave of water in the boil's direction. "Minding my own business, but nooooooooo, you have to be a jerk! Again! Because I said boo?!"
Her face was red with anger. Not that anyone could tell, what with the mud and all.

More mud and water and gunk came flying his way. This time he had been more prepared for the splash and attempted to block it. Which, didn't do much good. He was covered in muck and slime from head to toe. It would have been easy to mistake him for a swamp thing at this point.
"Hey! I was just being honest. Your boo sucked. WHY are you so upset about me saying that?" He actually had some legit concern in the end part of his question. He was the kind of guy that thought it was okay to be blatantly honest about everything even when it was uncalled for.
"I'm not sorry for being honest." His tone was flat. But he was actually upset that he upset her.

"Because... because you could have been nicer about it! Who likes some stranger coming up to them and telling them they suck?! I bet half the people in that class would have been upset too if you'd said that to them!" She folded her arms across her chest, the bucket clanking against her side. "There's honest and then there's just rude, and you splashed me first!"

And now he was dumb struck. Still, he didn't fully understand why Anna seemed so upset right now. But he felt bad none the less.
"W-what ever. You splashed me too S-so... " He was chocking on his words a bit. He wanted to say sorry so bad but the pride thing was blocking it. His words weren't forming right. Finally, frustrated and red faced he formed the words.
"I'm sorry." It came out meekly. Neil crossed his arms and tried to look like he didn't care that he'd just said the words.
