This is a barn close to WindClan territory. It houses a few rogues, and many travelers along their ways.
There's plenty of mice, and fresh, warm hay to sleep in.
PostPosted: Thu Dec 01, 2011 2:59 pm

Savannah's long strides were confident as she trudged through deep pits of mud. The mucky water only reached her back heels...Though she still had to wrinkle her nose to prevent the smell from rolling over her tongue anymore. A startled meow made her head whip around. "A-are you alright, Molly?" She struggled to stifle her laughter when her friend's body was completely submerged in the thick, brown liquidy earth.
"No I am most definitely not alright! I'm neck-deep in this stench, and I can hardly see in front of my nose." She grumbled, trotting forward slowly as if she were swimming in a pool of molasses. A sickening thuck sound echoed each pawstep.
"Yes, it is rather big isn't it?"
"Very funny you big lummox!"
"Here, hop on." She bent down, and waited paitently for Molly to clambor up. "Being big does have advantages."
"Pfft. Not enough to tempt me to grow that much. Must have helluvalot of growing pains." She mused, a light smile playing about her muzzle.
"Oh, you'll get there, especially with the way you've been growing sideways." A heavy blow to the top of her head made her reel backwards; almost throwing poor Molly off, who dug in her claws. Luckily they didn't peirce her flesh. She just felt a light, uncomfortable prickle. "We've got to eat." A grumbling in her stomach proved her point. While they'd been wandering for two days now, she had no idea how to hunt. That was a major problem; she could never get close enough to anything to kill it. I'm too tall, she mentally sighed, reaching the warm barn. It held the scents of many different cats, but none too recent.
"I'm too tired. Let's sleep first." In truth, she was just too weak to hunt. She'd eaten half of an old mouse, and some tuna out of a twoleg silver tree.
"I won't be able to rest with hunger gnawing at my stomach." Something caught her attention. Her ears swivled back and forth avidly, nearly whacking Molly's face.
"What is it?" She spat, feeling the muscles tensing in her friend's firm thighs, and sturdy shoulders. That only happened when she was ready to bolt, and no offense to Savannah, but she wasn't built to ride cat-back.
"I hear water! We can wash up, and catch some fish!"
"We don't know how to catch mice let alone fish!"
"We can learn, can't we? Our twolegs used to do it."
"I want nothing with fishing. I'll wash up in that big metal trunk sitting over there. You can go on your own."
"But--it's dangerous to split up. I've never been on my own before."

She slid from Savannah's long back. "Too bad." She spat, her nose tilting high in the air as her tail whipped back and forth behind her. Molly jumped head-first into freezing waters; steel grey walls rising around her like towers, which is when she realized this was deeper than she had expected. Nonetheless, she began to scrub out the mud with her sore paws. Somewhere near by an animal chirped, but she ignored it. There was no way she was strong enough to catch a bird.
Savannah stayed by the barn, her pelt caked with a dry brown coating of earth. She wasn't sure if she should go or not. They needed food, and she wanted to explore...But she couldn't leave Molly on her own. They had to stay together. They were all they had left in this world...Impatiently, she pawed at the ground, torn between the two ways. "I could leave, then come back." A rustling in the leaves made her blink upward in the warm sunlight, her eyes glittering like the surface of the far-off lake. "We could stay here for a while..." It didn't feel like home, but the fresh newleaf breeze made her sigh happily. It combed through her fur, and whistled by her sensitive, long ears. Sunshine dappled her coat, spreading warmth through her body. Yawning, she realized that weariness was seeping into her limbs now that she was standing still. She nestled down, tucking her forelegs into her chest, and her back legs folded at her sides.
Savannah could pick up a light pittering sound; and she looked up. Was it raining? The sky was clear, not a hint of a cloud anywhere. The pittering became dreary stomping. "Pawsteps!" She hissed to herself, standing and taking a defensive pose as the cats drew near. She could make out three distinctive patterns, but not much more. She couldn't be certain that there were only three cats, but she knew one sounded very big. It'll try and attack for it's territory...Thinks it's so big and tough, huh? "I'd like to see them try and take me." She purred softly to herself, musing for she knew her size was always what made others turn tail. Her face was suddenly serious, though, and her eyes narrowed into furious slits as she could just make out the soft outline of three bodies in a break between the underbrush--far enough off that she couldn't see their features.

Silently pushing through the bushes, branches prickling at soft patterned fur. Spots and coloration made it perfectly easy to blend in with the shadows. Though, there was no need. Peeking through it was easy to see that there was cats here. The scent was strong, meaning fresh. Shutting a fang filled maw, Adderstrike stepped through. One big and powerful paw at a time. Finally his entire two foot frame body was out. Tail twitching at the end, large sensitive ears pricked forward. Adderstrike's fur tingled with the feeling of eyes. Immediately the fur between his shoulders was twitching to raise. Growling he look forward, padding towards the barn. That was when his eyes caught the sight of another cat. At first glance it was easy to tell this felines size was close to his. The savannah was maybe a few of his leaps away. Two to be exact. It was clear this female wasn't going to be friendly. The fur on his neck bristled as his inch claws unsheathed. The apprentices would stand no chance against this cat. It seemed this loner and Adderstrike were similar breed. "Friend or foe?" He spat the words wanting an answer, a deep growl rippling from his throat. His size seemed to have increased as his muscle were as tense as rocks. Ears were flat against his head, listening back for Hawkpaw and Skypaw. If they were smart they'd see his posture and recognize his appearance of threat. Then again, Hawkpaw hadn't learned to stay away when she should yet. The small brown ball of fluff would have to learn quick and this would be a time. "You have thirty tail sways to answer before I answer for you!" Adderstrike wasn't kidding. The reason for his name, the fur on his neck which was fluffier then normal, was puffed out with some other fur. With his patterns it gave him the appearance as having a cobra hood, adding to his size.

Hawkpaw caught up fast with her mentor only to be stopped by skypaw who moved infornt of her warning that Adderstrike seemed to be ready to attack the loner. "I can help!" She meowed trying to push past her sister but the grey apprentice wouldn't let her younger sister go, quickly pinning her down with one paw on her back so the brown apprentice couldn't move. Hawkpaw just let her tail lash annoyed at how her sister used her size against her.

Savannah's eyes widened when she saw the cat who had been leading the troupe; the two kits by his side. She blinked a few times, her sandy-green eyes wild as those of her ancestors. He looked just like her, save for the extra weight that bunched to reveal it as muscle. Now that's something I don't see everyday. When he gave away his own defensive growl, her fur ruffled, though it cracked in certain places with her movements when the dried mud crumbled to dust. She couldn't believe that it seemed as though they thought she would actually hurt kittens! What, did they see her as a blood-thirsty dog? "You tell me, snake." She sneered, shifting her weight. His fur ruffled oddly to make him look like one of those slithery serpents, and his narrowed eyes and flattened ears only created more of a reptilian image. He had the obvious advantage physically, but she had her wits. He looked the kind that was quick to accuse, and quick to claw. Granted she hadn't been thrown out of her twoleg home long ago, she was still a cat! Her instincts told her to be wary, but to never back down. To be safe, she continued to speak. A fight she didn't want, but if he was going to be...Uncopperative, she didn't have a choice. She wasn't going to run; not when Molly was so close by. She would never risk the life of her friend for her own. "I'll tell you what--I'll answer any of your questions you might want to ask, so long as you answer some of mine. Like, where in the world did you come from? I am passing through, but I am pretty sure this barn isn't yours. If it was, your scent would've been all over the place. And, I would never engage in an unfair fight--for others," She motioned towards the kittens, wanting to make it clear that she was not a threat...Not yet. "If you'd rather fight, which is rather unintelligent and futile since it never really solves anything, I will give you a fight." She hissed, arching her back. Her claws unsheathed, dipping into the soft dirt and grass, the black glittering dangerously in the golden sunlight that dappled her pretty coat, and reflected in her eyes. "What'll it be?" She normally wasn't so hostile, but it had been he who'd gone into an "attack mode" at the mere sight of her. He didn't seem like the kind to make kind negotiations.

It wasn't a surprise to see the female's green hues wild with defensive intent. Adderstrike was able to look straight through her with his brilliant golden colored gaze, his eyes the shade of pure gold. This opposing feline seemed to be challenging him, which it seemed if she was slightly larger she'd be a challenge. No matter. The giant seemed to calm down, a bit. Bristled fur moved to lay flat against no longer bulging muscles. Claws went back into their sheaths. Ears, still somewhat folded back, seemed relaxed. Fangs no longer bared but lips did twitch in frustration. It wasn't long before Adderstrike was somewhat fully calmed down, though the snake comment almost made him chuckle. It was always a reason to pick on the giant for, the fluffed fur on his neck and the appearance he had when in fury. That was another reason for why other clan cats never wished to get into a brawl with him. Those that did, quickly either scurried away or had to drag themselves. Turning his head slightly, eyes glancing at the sisters, he motioned for them to come out. There was knowledge and obvious appearance that Hawkpaw didn't seem too happy. Again, no matter. Looking back at Savannah, he took notice of the way her body arched with her hissing. She seemed far more flexible then even he. Purring with amusement he stepped forward. "This barn is within the borders of Windclan, one of the four here. You are considered trespassing." There was a monotone feel to his deep meow. "Now, I do agree a fight would be rather unfair. For I do sense another feline within the shelter?" The large cat continued to step forward, no longer showing himself as a threat. Still a little angsty but hey, what could you say. "It appears we have gotten off on the wrong branch. Name's Adderstrike. The young ones are Hawkpaw, and Skypaw. You?" Stopping and standing, he waited for a greeting. Keeping an ear on the apprentices.

Skypaw saw that they were motioned for a let hawkpaw up, slipping over to Adderstrike's side as her sister stumbled out of the bush showing how small she was. "That wasn't nice!" She hissed at her sister before walking over her fur prickled in anger but quickly slid back down flat as she saw her mentor, chuckling at the snake comment. Adding a mental note that she would be using that now. "Well you need to keep yourself hidden when you're mentor tells you to!" Skypaw added in making her sister glare at her with her adnormal eyes.

Savannah's fur laid flat soon after his did, realizing that he would make the better choice. Her claws sheathed, her back resumed a more relaxed pose. Her out-look on Adderstrike was becoming more positive. When he spoke, he didn't seem disrespectful, nor was he looking for a fight or trying to irriate her. Their names where very...Odd, but she wasn't going to judge a cat based on something like that; it was too shallow for her. A slow smile adorned her furred lips gently, and she nodded to the kittens respectively before turning back to the tom. "I am Savannah. Pardon my friend and I, we did not know...I am...still unclear, what are Clans? And, Molly isn't much bigger than those ki-I mean, Skypaw, and...Hawkpaw?" she whipped her tail in their direction. "I doubt she'd be much of a threat to you." Her wide ears twitched in amusement.
"Much of a threat to who? I can...Hold...My...Own." Her voice slowed considerably when she spotted the tall tom, and her head whipped back and forth from her friend to him. "Well, now I've seen it all. Two of you." Her words would usually be considered comical, but they were filled with spite and hatred as she stared directly at the stranger.
"I thought you weren't coming out?"
"I never said I wouldn't come out, I just said I wasn't going fishing. Besides, I was wondering where all the hot air was coming from. How's the weather up there?" She snapped at Adderstrike, taking no notice of Savannah's sighs.
Savannah cleared her throat and blinked apologetically at him. "Excuse my friend, she doesn't...Trust, or like strangers." She sent a sharp glare at Molly when the she-cat began to hiss at the kittens. "There's no need for that-" She tried to speak calmly, to pacify her friend, but was cut off rudely.
"They're dangerous!" She snapped in reply, arching her back and unsheathing her claws.
"Stop, no, not everyone is bad you know--look at me."
"Oh, that totally assured me. You idiot, another minute and they would've attacked you--look at your posture! You're acting like a pampered fool, like you've always been!" She sneered, turning to her attentions on Savannah; her burnt sandy eyes glowering angrily.
She sighed, understanding that the harsh life along the alleys, surviving one day at a time, had taken away her faith in cats. "Please, can't you trust me?"
"I know I can-but I don't trust them." She huffed. Her eyes pinned the large tom again, and her fur stayed bristled, but her claws sheathed and her hissing ceased.
"We have no place else to go, so I'll have to ask to intrude upon your...WindClan territory. We need to hunt soon; we haven't eaten too well these past few days."
"Why are you telling him this?" She gaped at Savannah.
"I trust him."
"Because he looks like you?"
"No, because he makes the right choices."
"What?"
PostPosted: Fri Dec 02, 2011 6:47 pm

So far it seemed Savannah could be rather trustworthy for now. Calm, collected, thoughtful, and amusing. Adderstrike was starting to warm up rather quickly, which you could say was a downfall of his. Trusting rather easily for the most part. Then again, he had a great sense of whether cats were trustowrthy or mistrustful. Then again, there was a double take on those thoughts alone. Piercing eyes glowered down at the rather small new female feline that seemed to have been defending herself. So this had to be Molly. What a charming cat she seemed to be. The tom had to force muscles to not tense and show in a threatening sort of way. Adderstrike wasn't going to start any fighting with a friend of a cat which seemed no harm. Even though Molly herself seemed overly aggressive, there seemed to be something behind it. Now, the moment the short female started to hiss at the apprentices, he put a paw infront of them and let his ears pull back. He spat a heavy warning. If the female was going to do what she did again, Adderstrike wasn't going to give her a seconds warning. But, when attention went back to Savannah, he relaxed, pulling his paw back. The next few seconds seemed to be a little tussle between the two friends. He stood their questioning. "Skypaw, could you go ask our leader if it would be alright to let them stay for a while. They don't seem to be a problem." Adderstrike meowed quietly as he turned his attention from the apprentices back to the loners.

Skypaw closed her eyes with a sigh of relief being able to leave before opening them again, "Alright, i'll run as fast as I can." She meowed turning then dashing through the bushes to head back to camp.

((Exit Skypaw.))

Hawkpaw tilted her head as she watched her sister wondering why Adderstrike hadn't let her go since she was faster. She quickly turned her attention back to Adderstrike and the loners not really going to take her eye off them, speically since the loner named Savannah looked like Adderstrike it interested her, making her curious.
PostPosted: Sat Dec 03, 2011 10:23 am

Savannah dipped her head gratefully. "I thank you, but--no offense, if you are not the leader of this...WindClan, wouldn't it be better if I asked permission to stay myself? I feel like a coward to do otherwise." She admitted a little reluctantly, glancing downward at her silently folded paws. She sat down, and then slowly returned her gaze to Adderstrike's wild orbs.
"What is wrong with you? Stupid furball, all braun and no brains! If we went there we'd be vulnerable. I bet there are a lot more of you," She blinked at Adderstrike. "And we can't risk it. You're going to get attatched, and there will be problems!" She growled eerily, whipping her tail back and forth.
"Molly-"
"Go wash up, you look like a mudball."
"I'd rather be a mudball than a sleazeball." Her words may seem harsh, but she said them with a light purr, and a gentle smile. It showed she had no ill-intent, that she was just teasing. Savannah flicked her tail dissmisively in a short goodbye to Hawkpaw and Adderstrike each before standing gracefully and padding into the barn. Obviously Molly had found a source of water, since she had come out sparkling clean. Spotting a rather large pail, she hopped in. It was very long, looking more like a deep wooden trench than a pail, but it was all she knew. She had no name for this odd structure. Shaking out her beautiful fur, she began to scrub the mud away; tinting the cold, clear liquid a dark brown.
Molly sat at the entrance to the barn, it's wide red-and-white doors looming over them. "Take one more pawstep, buddy, and I'll shred you. Being small can have it's advantages too." She added, pinning him with her clear, burnt golden stare.

The teasing and half bent remarks between the two were rather entertaining, Adderstrike had to say the least. The giant simply stood there quietly as the two females argued and bickered amongst themselves. Occassionally the smaller one seemed to look back and glare at the tom. There was no feeling of being uncomfortable, for he knew at the moment there was no need to be worried. Then again he glanced back down at his roudy apprentice. It was quite a shock that Hawkpaw was being as calm as she was. Adderstrike let himself once again purr in amusement, as the beautiful Savannah strode off to pretty herself up. Gazing down, Adderstrike felt the hot gaze that Molly was giving him. He seemed to be staring back with his dark feral eyes. Lips seemed to twitch anxiously at the challenge. Should the tom try to step forward, just to see if the loner was going to keep up with her word. "Do you truly think I would dare to put myself in harm's way? I can see you are quite capable of doing damage." Molly's small frame decieved her. His expert eyes however saw the muscle beneath. "You have quite a bit of strength don't you." Looking down, he adressed his apprentice. "Hawkpaw, take notice of physical features of any cat you meet. You will recognize if they have strength or willpower. But, don't judge their look." Good time for a quick lesson.
PostPosted: Sun Dec 04, 2011 9:02 pm

Hawkpaw tilted her head to look up at her mentor before looking back at the rouge, studying her appearance and trying to see what adderstrike was getting at. She kneaded the ground infornt of her quietly, not in a threating but eager way. The small apprentice couldn't help but think if Molly could make her mentor think twice about what he was going to do then she could do it as well one day! Not just with Adderstrike but with every larger cat, and with the other apprentices who would tease her for her size.

"Ha, ha. I've taken down a lot that's bigger than me, so don't even try. I see your eyes, Hexis (sort of a devil/evil being for her) sent. I wouldn't trust you for one minute with my friend. You'd best hope that-whatever you called that runt-comes back with good news." She stood her ground, angry that he was using her as an example. She felt like he was studying her, and in her experience, that was never a good thing. "I'd prefer you look elsewhere to teach that pathetic scrap of fur some lessons."
Once clean, Savannah padded outside; her pelt now glossy and free of any mud. "So, what are these...WindClans again?" He had never mentioned what a WindClan was, nor why they chose to be there. She was curious, and intrigued. If there were more of her kind, she would very much like to meet them. "And, are there more of us-our kind of cat-where you live?" She made sure not to ask too many questions all at once, though many where already whizzing by in her mind.
"Why should it matter? We know there are probably a lot more cats that aren't friendly, and are Hexis sent like this one." She motioned towards Adderfang, her tail rustling the hay behind her.
"It doesn't have to be vital information to be interesting, Molly. It's called being friendly, and curious."
"Curiosity killed the cat."
"But satisfaction brought it back."
"Never heard that one before."
"Why would you have? It's a 'happy ending'." She sat down, and blinked at Adderstrike expectantly, but smiling at the one named Hawkpaw gently to show she wasn't forgetting or ignoring her.
