The Library. The Library~ It was an amazing building that Before had discovered completely by accident. He had gone looking for one under the excuse of research and studying because of his division. And at the time it hadn't been an excuse but this time? He was headed there for some much needed pick-me-ups. He had to avoid the damn Cookies somehow so at least he could use the excuse of being in a Library to restrain himself ; 3;
Unfortunately he suddenly needed to make a detour (again) and ducked down several hallways to wait it out. Somehow he found himself back in the Gym. For the amount of times he'd been here, he might as well just move in.
"Aha yeah, nyuuuu, not with those bloodstains still there..." he grimaced, talking to himself because he was certain he was alone. Not because he was crazy, mind you. Except he wasn't alone. Whether he was crazy was another matter.

Unfortunately, Before was most definitely not alone--it seemed he hadn't noticed Eva, who wasn't standing too far off from where he was at the moment. Eva, on the other hand, definitely noticed him. Since she thought that she had been alone, the sudden voice made her jump, and then she processed what exactly the voice had said.
...
She suddenly laughed. "I'm not interrupting, am I? I didn't think that I'd have company all of a sudden." She was twirling her weapon in her hand as she looked Before up and down. Nope, didn't really recogniz--oh wait! He was...that one who yelled "Yay Life!" during the mission debriefing and got into trouble, right?
Eva grinned. She liked him already.

Before gave a startled yelp (which was quickly becoming his default reaction to anything whenever he was in this particular building) and immediately summoned his weapon. Except instead of holding it like he was going to strike, he was hiding behind the large wheel. Thankfully there were gaps crafted into Vanna's shape that functioned as eye holes, allowing him to peer at the female trainee he had unwittingly disturbed.
"A-ah, n-no! No, you didn't..." he studied her, thinking she looked familiar. Or at least the voice reminded him briefly of someone he'd met during the whole masked-training-escapade. "Uhhhh, did I interrupt you? I can totes leave if you wanna be alone to train and work out and stuff..."

Laughing, Eva desummoned her weapon so that she could move forward and offer her hand out to life trainee. "Calm down now, you didn't interrupt me! I like company!" She chuckled, honestly amused by his reaction--he was acting as if she was going to beat him up! "I'm Eva--Evie is what I usually go by. And you're...?"
Wait, no, she knew this, didn't she? When he had gotten into trouble...
"Oh! Caelius called you Milton, didn't he?" If there was one thing that could be said about Eva, it was that she had a pretty good memory for names and faces. Usually, anyways.

As he moved Vanna out of his line of sight, he accepted and shook the other trainee's hand, visibly relieved that she wasn't out for his blood or anything. "Ah, cool, it's cool," he nodded at first, then made a face at the use of Milton. He really hated his name now, why couldn't he have been given a cooler-sounding one? Like Leopold?
Because you are neither bold nor commanding like a lion? Vanna suggested teasingly. Which Before gave the mental response of 8<
"Erm, call me Before, please? I-it's nice to meet you Evie, and heeeeeey!!!" he finally recognized her, "You're one of Otto's girls!" He had seen Evie with another female trainee hovering around the surly, ill-tempered blond enough times to associate the three of them as one unit.

Eva suddenly doubled over laughing, her arms wrapped around her midsection. Otto's girls...oh god, was that how she and Reine were known as, now? Her laughing died away slowly, but she was still grinning as she looked back to Before. Oh man--this guy was hilariou--
--Hold it. The amusement on the face was quickly replaced by surprise as she suddenly looked Before up and down. "Before...Before?" Slowly, her lips spreading into a grin, "You're that Beta, aren't you? I was on the Epsilon team--E4."

Before's expression had been one of relief, then it quickly switched to confusion when the girl began to laugh. What was it Otto told him? Pretend you weren't interested? Ooookay, let's see if that technique worked on-wait did she just say E4? O.o???
Teal eyes stared and stared and stared some more. He seemed to be trying to put together the name with his memories and when things clicked, he promptly went DDDDD8!!!! as he pointed, "EFFORT!!??" Well. ********. Maybe she'd be out for his blood now...

Ahaha, and there was that nickname! Grinning from ear to ear, Eva propped her fists up on her hip and leaned forward. "I see you haven't forgotten me, or that nickname that you dropped on me out of the blue." At the time, she recalled being a little less amused at the nickname, but she hadn't really been herself on that Island either.
If Before was expecting a punch in the face, it never came. The young woman did, however, reach out to give him a friendly clap on the shoulder. "Good to see you in one piece! I heard that you were here, and I've seen you around, but I didn't realize that you were...you." That didn't make any sense, did it? Oh well, that didn't matter.
"Why are you lurking around here anyways? Looking for a spar?" Eva's blue eyes twinkled mischievously at this. She could always use a sparring partner!

On the one hand, Before could be totes honest with himself and Eva and admit he ducked in here to avoid someone. But that had the potential to lead to outside interference with his fully-laid-out plans on staying awaaaaaaay from a certain her forever. So he went with the path of least resistance: Lying.
"Errr, yeah! Totes! Been a while since I got my a** handed to me," he laughed nervously, drawing Vanna in front of him.

"Don't think I'll be the one to do so," Eva laughed, resummoning Chara and giving the bladed staff a twirl, "But I can promise you that I'll try." The idea of her winning against one of the trainees--especially Before with his luck--was ridiculous in her mind. That being said, it didn't mean that she wasn't going to give it her all.
Taking a step back, she got into the ready position and waited for the first attack to come.

"Oh pffft! I haven't won against a girl yet! I mean, yeah I've beaten Gale and Judy (no, he's not a girl but he's got reeeeeally nice hair) but Bo-err, Ariane and C-C-Candace have both kicked my a**..." he pouted, teal eyes suddenly darting down to stare at his shoes. Then he realized Effort was waiting for him to make the first move. "Uh, shouldn't it be ladies first?"
Silly Before, am I not a lady?
"Oh yeah, my partner's a girl, so uh, I guess she can go first?" he scratched the back of his head. Then he swung out at Eva with his eyes closed.

Eva couldn't help but chuckle at this, and she gave a little wave of her hand. "Trust me, as a newbie who is just getting started? I don't think you'll be having too much trouble here." Really, she would try to put up a good fight, but she wasn't sure how she would actually fare against Before.
Especially since it was...well, Before. She couldn't remember if she had even been hit by him on the Island, but if she hadn't, she just got her first taste now. Wincing--but still grinning--the girl staggered back and struck out with the bladed side of her staff.
"Ouch, nice hit! I'm not surprised, though!"

Teal eyes popped open when Before felt the staff slice at his arm. "You're not doing too bad yourself!" he remarked with a nod. Hefting Vanna onto his shoulder, the Life trainee looked as if he was having second thoughts. Only to bring a gloved hand to his mouth to cover up a light burp. "Sorry about that," he apologized. He might have meant the smell, given his recent diet of JOY cookies and eggnog.

Eva raised her brows in surprise at the burp, but she laughed it off. "Been eating strange things lately?" She teased, lunging in and swinging Chara in a sweep. That weapon of Before's, she realized, really hurt. She wasn't at all surprised now that he had managed to take down, or at least badly injure, a couple of epsilons on that Island.
"Man, am I ever glad we're on the same side now!"

"Y-yeah, gotta start laying off those JOY cookies..." he chuckled, teal eyes darting away as he recalled the whole masked-training fiasco.
Before had also ended up killing a fellow Beta in this very Gym but that wasn't a fact he was proud of. Especially since it had been an accident at the time and friendly fire really sucked big time. He found himself falling off balanced at the sweep of Eva's weapon, and as he descended, arms instinctively shot out to brace himself.
One arm in particular was connected to the hand holding onto Vanna. With the wheel's added length, he had the needed wingspan to reach Eva. The arc of his movement used the momentum of his fall to add extra force as the wheel slammed hard against the former Epsilon.
"J-just don't give me a gun a-and I think I can hold my own..." he groaned from the floor.
