Seeing as Birhan had found her fairly simply by going along the old patrol routes to see if she might be still doing her duty (and why wouldn't she?), Albali was more determined than ever to stay along the old route. Something was going on in their old marked territory anyway and she was determined to figure it the hell out. Graffiti was everywhere, the content...disturbing to say the least. She didn't know a hell of a whole lot about anything but messages about Chaos in ******** colors couldn't ever be a good thing.
It was disturbing enough to her that the Super Senshi of Echoes had her back turned stupidly to the street in which to contemplate a larger, more obscure reference in virulent pink that would have complemented her own fuku beautifully...if she was color blind and desperate. "Can't they at least choose complementing colors if they're going to be assholes? I mean really."

"What would make it complementary?" The tone came from behind her, somewhat snickering, decisively masculine -- and as Albali lifted her head, she'd notice the chaos that had come creeping up behind her. Al-Janah was embracing the cliche, not only standing in her blind spot to make her turn, but worse than that: he leaned against the wall with force nonchalance, head cocked to one side and red hair tumbling forward into one eye.
He kind of liked playing the villain.
He was also, well, colossally stupid. Obviously still fresh to this, still a newbie, she outranked and outclassed him. If they fought, it wouldn't be a fair fight, and while he understood that on an objectively level [Leto'd made it clear enough] he didn't embrace it. He didn't get it. Maybe he would soon.
"I mean, you want them to make it ******** pink and yellow and purple and white? You seem to be one to talk about clashing."

Grudgingly Albali had to admire the theatrical cliche of the whole thing. Wasn't she a master writer? A child of the stage? Someone who used her words to the most effect as often as possible? Plus the grudging admiration would serve as a way to chastise herself for not realizing there was a goddamn Dark Mirror hovering behind her somewhere in the shadows. What the hell kind of warrior was she if she couldn't pick up on a Chaos signature a rung lower on the power ladder than her own? Bad week all around, really.
"I suppose it's too much to suppose the miscreant who put this trash here would even wonder about the color aesthetics and palette of the local area. This garish pink," She loaded all the British aristocratic disdain her blue blood could muster onto the word, "Fits not at all with the neighborhood. Perhaps a nice umber, or burgundy would work better?" Perhaps she could rip her bows off and strangle him with the ribbons. Why did everyone feel the need to comment on the fact? Yes she was a rainbow of sunset colors. Yes she was a beribboned ******** of a magical warrior. Did they think she hadn't noticed how the hell she walked out of the house?
Tesla but she was surrounded by idiots.
"You seem to be a colossal disappointment to the Mirror if you can't understand something as simple as color theory. Or what a super senshi is when you see one, antagonizing her so she's willing to kick your face in." It wasn't said with irony, camaraderie, or even a hint of a smile. She was dead serious.

She didn't so much as smile, but she surprised him into laughing -- not the cliched super villain laugh he would have liked, but that of a startled teenager who found something way too hilarious to restrain himself. It was the same laughter that exploded out of him when someone in IRC posted a link to a particularly offensive youtube video: bright and cheerful. Not evil at all. It probably made him a bit more human.
Al-Janah struggled to choke it back, fingers going to the front of his uniform -- smoothing it down, his shoulders rolled, his throat cleared, struggling to regain experiences. "Look, don't lecture me about colors or whatever, honey. I'm the one here in nice muted black and brown, right, and you're the one who looks like rainbow vomit."
A pause, a breath, and he considered the other half. "...plus, I'm pretty sure I can run faster than you."

It wasn't the poor guy's fault at all really. Albali didn't mean to be a total bitter, angry b***h of a super senshi but she couldn't help but take his laughter, his misguided notion that he could run faster than a super senshi, and be furious. She was a weakness that couldn't be afforded but this senshi didn't even know how to tell the difference between a first-ranked and second-rank in power! Did she have to sprout Eternal wings before he'd get the picture and be intimidated? Not that she especially wanted to be scary but...did he know anything?!
Obviously she had to teach him. Trial by fire was the best method wasn't it? Albali thought so and with a crisp nod. "Before I run you into the ground I think I ought to make one thing clear. This?" She lifted a tail of her ridiculous bow. "Is not by choice. It also means that I'm stronger than you and you are going to lose." Duh.
Indulging in her own sense of theatricality the Senshi of Echoes stretched a bit and then took one step forward. Then a second. Then she was off and running over towards the Dark Mirror boy with a determined set to her entire being.

Oh, Al-Janah knew what it meant to be a super senshi. Leto'd explained it. He'd recognized the bows, the different in power signature. He just had his ace in the hole. Two steps was all the warning he needed, to call his attack from the sky, red bird launched up toward her. The first few times he'd done this, the jesses had been awkward, the bird had gone crookedly into the sky. Now, though, it was getting to be habit.
No sooner had he launched it than he pivoted and kicked into motion himself, streaking away from her. He only had to get a block or two down, and then he could shoot back away through the mirror he'd come in on. Some might call it cowardly. He called it pragmatic.
"I wouldn't move, if I were you, that thing hurts -- " Except something was wrong. It made him skid to a halt, blinking up toward the sky.

It had taken a minute and he'd gotten further away than she wanted but it had worked rather pleasantly. The moment that crimson hawk flew above her head, circling and watching warily Albali had indeed halted but gotten an idea tickling behind the ear. If his attack had been the bird plummeting for her head it would have happened by now; no first-rank senshi could hold his attack off if it was meant to be truly a full offensive. So she'd done the only thing her power would allow her to do, firing the thing right back at him.
Her hawk was not red but was instead a pleasing blend of his crimson and her own dusky pink, circling above his head. "I wouldn't move if I were you. That thing hurts." Standing stock-still in the middle of the street Albali couldn't help but be the lesser man, smirking before bursting into laughter. She'd been useful for a change! Now she just had to make sure this poor kid knew her name and could report back that Sailor Albali wasn't just content to pal around with someone dangerous now.
She could be dangerous all by herself.
"So you're probably wondering who I am, what just happened. I'm Sailor Albali, Senshi of Echoes. That right there," she pointed above his head, "is my echo. Pretty isn't it?"

At least this was an attack Al-Janah was familiar with: he knew the safe bounds, knew that he could look up and see the area it marked out, knew that he could take one step this way and another step that way but absolutely couldn't take more in that direction. As such, he came to a halt, yes, stopped his running and just paced the confines, shoulders tensing, trying to decide if it was worth taking a few raking talons to the head and shoulders for the sake of making it to his mirror.
Too late now. Even if he ran, she'd probably be able to catch up, and the distracting flutter of dusty magenta wings around his face would certainly slow him down. So he went for the only other thing he had in his arsenal:
Bravado.
"It won't last forever." He said it like it didn't matter, distracted, ignoring her name in favor of watching the bird. It made his skin prickle, and his eyes looked uncertain, but at least his tone came out clear enough.
"And, uh, it's not like you can come in the circle, either." Damned if he knew that was true, actually, but it sounded good anyway.

"It keeps you from running away and it helps me learn. Knowing your attack means that I will be less vulnerable to it in the future and that is never a very good thing now is it?" It didn't look like the young man was willing to move very far because...it would trigger the attack? So you could stand still and remain unscathed while the attack's power ran out, draining the senshi from the ability to do it again any time soon, or you could take the hit and keep moving. It was actually quite a good power, so much so that the familiar envy of a useful magic was already streaking through Albali.
"You should tell whomever is training you, and if I know Ares there is someone responsible for you first-rank senshi, that they're lapsing in your education. There are four senshi amongst your ranks that know my power and should have made you familiar with it. It's a gross neglect in your education that can very much get you killed." It was surprising that on the heels of envy came a swift, burning anger. These uneducated children were worthy of serving Princess Ares, carrying her hopes and wishes on their fragile backs but she was too weak to be counted upon?!
She could not, would not, make a deprecating remark about Princess Ares and slipping in her duty. There was no way that, once she found out, this problem would not be immediately rectified. Was she perhaps betraying the White Moon and the Blood Moon by enlightening him on the lapse? Did she care? Not especially. "Did they teach you anything?" There, that was a suitably incredulous remark. Perhaps she might, just might, learn something extra.

"I know the senshi ranks." He fought the urge to roll his eyes, but couldn't resist flicking another look upward. He wanted to know the second that bird was gone, so that he could kick into motion again, so that he could get away from this girl's grasp. He knew she was stronger than him -- technically. He still thought he could out run her, in those shoes, with that outfit that must catch and grab on every obstacle... "I also know that we basically get the one attack. So, uh." He flicked a hand in a circle, shrugging, his eyes flashing into focus again. Al-Janah could at least bite back a little. "So, what, you take my attack? Can you do it again, then? I think probably that's it, right? I mean, also, if you're using my attack..." He paused, floundering. He was smart, if he just took the time to think things through. He just had a hard time with that last part. "So if I don't throw s**t at you, what, you just stand there and cross your fingers?" ii nessy ii No worries or rush, but please quote or IM me if you reply! <3
