Ever since the event....Ever since the attack from the hunters, Amphi hadn't been...well herself. usually nice, while still shy, she was now withdrawn and reclusive. It was like the days when she had been younger and feared the sea monsters or such as a child.

She felt the same as she curled in her aquarium holding her newest and most adorable friend, Cuttle to comfort her. She hadn't talk to Mac since then, to shy and feeling far stupider for not realizing what was happening to them, for letting him get caught and for both of them dying.

That and he did something funny to her, that made her tingly and confused. So instead of seeing him or contacting him....she tucked herself in the far reaches of the deep of her dorm.

But then she got lonely, and she wanted to talk it out, and the only person she was perfectly comfortable with Sheridan. Something about the Celestial Dragon set her completely at ease, perhaps she needed to share with him her experience. Swimming out of her tank had been hard...even worst when she shifted to go see him. Instead of her usual flashy clothes though, she wore an oversize sweater and shorts. The winter chill didn't bother her as she went to his room, clinging her arms close to her.

She hesitated though as she moved to knock on his door.

"Sheridan?" She said meekly as she knocked gently.

His head was still reeling, all that had happened, everything had changed. He no longer knew what to think or what to believe, or for that matter who to trust. Thinking back, he had begun to wonder if all of this had begun back at that island (how long ago it seemed now, though not even a year had passed), or if this went back further than any of them knew. Was this all just the beginning?

The dragon sighed, looking down that the same page of his book that he had been staring at for the last 30 minutes. He shook his head, trying to clear his thoughts before reaching out to turn the page.

Hmm?

He almost thought he had imagined it, the quiet knock, the soft voice. A moment passed, he recognized the voice. Setting his book aside, Sheridan stood and walked to the door, opening it to see his friend. He gave her a friendly smile, he was glad to see her, though she seemed...sad to him.

"Hey."

She waited only for a second before the door opened to present her friend. He too looked a little lost in thought and had her head cocking at him.

"I'm sorry to bother you if your busy but..." She twiddled her hands together in what most would recognize as a nervous habit before sighing, she could count on Sheridan at the moment to understand her. he was after all, the only person she truly "knew".

"Do you mind if I come in Sheridan?" Normally she would blush at asking to be in a boils room....she did feel the small heat from a flush rise but...what she wanted to discuss with him, it overrode any embarrassing feelings she had. "I wanted...to..um...talk with you." She smiled up at him, though it didn't fully meet her eyes.

Sheridan blinked, somewhat surprised by the request. It wasn't that he minded her in his room, on the contrary she was more than welcome, it had simply been unexpected. He couldn't remember her ever asking to enter his room before.

"Of course, come in."

He quickly stepped aside, gesturing for her to step through. His room was a bit disorganized, but at least the scattered papers and books were limited to his desk and the immediate vicinity thereof. Most of his books were placed on the tall bookcases that lined the far wall, the shelves of which were nearly overflowing. By the window was a large electronic telescope which showed clearly it was used on a regular basis. There was no bed, but there was a very large pile of pillows where one would expect a bed to be, and a few chairs placed throughout the room.

As he turned, Sheridan sought out and immediately scooped up his cat (said cat did NOT seem pleased by the action) to make sure the fuzzy monster did not try to escape through the door or pounce on his guest.

She watched his reaction and had to stifle her own smile at his moment's pause. If she didn't think it odd to ask to go in his room herself, she'd think he didn't like her or something. However, he didn't wait any moments longer and ushered her in.

She murmured a quiet "Thank you." before entering and looking around. Oddly enough, it wasn't like the room was containing. She had never really been in another students room and was surprised to see that his ceiling was far...far above her head. Papers, books and other assortment of what Amphi would refer to as Sheridan like things cluttered the room. He had though, plenty of plush comfy chairs and what she thought was his bed, the pile of the pillows on the ground looking just as plump.

Did she take a moment to take in her new surroundings, yes she did. It seemed to fit him...so very well. Her eyes looked over at him before wandering to a chair, patting the arm of it. "I'm sorry to intrude on your time again." She said politely before looking over at him. Somewhere between the door and entering in the room, Sheridan had gained a minipet cat, of which kind, she had no idea. She had her own Nekogiri kitty now waiting for her but...She had never seen one like this.

"Um...I don't know where I should sit..." She looked around before stepping closer to him. "I just had a few thoughts and questions and...some concerns I need your help with. because your really smart and probably know what I'm talking about." She nodded.

Sheridan was still holding his cat, a large white cat with black markings, a short blond mane, small wings, and a what may have been a permanent snarl. At that moment the cat was glaring at the stranger who had dared enter his domain, tail twitching as if he were plotting the best method of escape. There had better be cookies involved here!

The dragon was either oblivious to or ignoring the sulking of the cat of evil, more occupied with the faint blush tinting his ears and wondering if he should close the door or leave it open.

"I hope it's not too cold for you."

Well that wasn't much of a conversation starter was it. Still, maybe it was a legitimate one since it was rather cold in his room, the kind of cold where one would expect to look up and see ice clinging to the tall ceiling, the air thin and crisp like standing on a mountain on a sunny day.

"You can sit anywhere you like."

He paused, his head tilted. Any other time he probably would have blushed furiously, but there was something in her tone. Was she okay?

"What's wrong?"

Amphi did, and though she probably didn't know it, have a short stare down with the cat. It wasn't like she was claiming domain over well...the things domain and all but she got a distinct feeling that if she wasn't careful, either the pet would attack or make a quick dart to escape which would probably saddened the celestial dragon. And she did not want that what so ever.

Her head cocked at his words before a small shy smile spread. "I am accustomed to much colder with living under the sea but thank you very much." She looked around, " I didn't realize how much room you had here though, and the air in here is a bit tighter then it is outside." She wondered if that had to be because of him being a dragon though she didn't elaborate any further. When she was dedicated about talking, she really focused on it....otherwise she'd completely forget until like a week later.

"Oh...Well if you don't mind then." She smiled again before moving to take up a corner of the pillow bed. Why? Well the pillows looked so much more inviting and she wanted to be able to talk to Amon without him looking for her in a chair. "Sorry again to intrude...." She waited a couple of beats before looking up at him, startled that he had asked her what was wrong. She didn't expect him to be so adept on picking it up but then again, it wasn't like she was closing herself off. She nervously wrung her hands together.

"Sheridan....Have you ever died?" She looked down at her hands, laced together as they rubbed together.

Sheridan shot a glance at the cat he was holding, giving it a poke on the top of its head.

"Be nice, or no cookies."

Wait, his cookies were threatened? Hmph! Fine, he'd be nice, even if he didn't want to. This time when he looked at Amphi, he stuck out his tongue before wriggling free and sulking off to curl up on one of the chairs. Okay, starting now he'd be nice, but only for the cookies!

"Don't worry about him, he's like that with everyone."

The dragon gave his friend an apologetic smile before settling to sit on the pile of pillows himself. The smile had quickly faded, replaced by a somber expression. Yes, he had died, an experience he would wish on no one, a memory he had wished he could forget. Though thinking back, he wasn't sure what was worse, dying himself, or watching the deaths of those around him, those he had fought with.

"Yes, I have."

If things kept going the way they were, he suspected it would not be the only time he would 'die'. The fear now was dying and not coming back.

Amphi watched amused as Sheridan took care of the kitten, dropping it neatly so that it could stalk off. Oddly enough, she was pretty sure the beast had stuck its tongue out at her...Really!

She almost gave it a pat on the head as it sulked past her but thought better of it, eyeing the claws and gleam in its eyes that said..."Just try it."

"Oh I see." She smiled as she looked up at her friend who came to sit by her on the pillow bed, moving to accomadate his tail and size.

She watched his face, one that was usually placed with a very comforting expression shift to something more sad and well...knowing. She wasn't sure just how to respond to him but knowing that he too had felt the sting and reforming of death, she was sure she had come to the right person.

"I...." She took a breath as the memories swamped her before looking away. "I died for the first time since I've been alive." She looked up at him, her blues eyes startling clear with clarity as she looked at him. "It was the most horrifying thing I have ever experienced." Her arms came around her as she shuddered. "Were you in the forest when we were all consumed by fire?" She asked him, the need to know what he had been through over rode her usual polite demeanor. "How....when did you die for the first time Amon?" She made a quick laugh before she looked down in wonder at her hands, "Listen to me...The first time we died. Cause there will be more won't there? More times?"

The dragon shook his head, his tail still for a rare moment. He had mercifully been spared that fate, having been on the other side of the campus at the time.

"It happened on the island. We were told it was a field trip, it was anything but. I don't know how long we were there, it could have been months for all I know. I remember the fog, but it was more than fog, we heard voices and nitemares, we couldn't use our abilities, it felt like it was...draining our FEAR."

He paused, his gaze turning toward the ceiling as if he sought to see beyond the stone to the stars above. What he had seen there still haunted his dreams at times, the cold darkness the heaviness of the fog, as if it sought to crush them beneath its weight, the nitemares of a starless sky. It had robbed them of their senses, leaving them questioning what was real and what was not. How he wished the whole thing had only been a dream, but he knew all too well it was not.

"We were attacked, I don't know how many of us fell, but I saw several others before... When I died, I didn't come back, not at first, I don't know if the same thing happened to the others. But if what that man said was true, we were the lucky ones."

The words still echoed in his mind, the robed being who had said his weapon had once been a student, that he had turned a halloweener into a -weapon-. It had seemed it was the same fate he had in store for them. Sheridan shuddered at the thought, he could not imagine such an existence.

His shake at the Fire incident calmed Amphi, at least as far as any worry she would have for the Dragon boil. She was glad he wasn't there, she was relieved he didn't have to experience that death.

She watched him as he spoke of this Island. They had gone to a Island? Oh Jack, The field trips seemed so horrifying! She had heard faint stories about the last one, but only rumors and such. About the students battles with the hunters, about their Gym teacher Red dying? Who knew though.

Her hand instantly reached out to Sheridan's placing it in between her's as a silent sign of support. Her face held a usual flush, so like Amphi but...underneath it, she could understand.

"I'm sorry Sheridan..." Her eye's unknown to her had filled with a small amount of tears, a little drop cascaded down her cheek before disappearing, the remants of it, a think trail of water from her eye to her chin. "It sounds so horrible." she couldn't even imagine! An Island? Somewhere outside of their home, a unknown place and he had come back...reformed.

"Why...Why we're you lucky Sheridan?" She didn't know what he spoke about but, "There was one...A man who told us the same as well. That we were lucky that the horseman went with him." She shuddered as she thought of it, her hand tightening on his, "I didn't...I didn't see him. But he had such a cold voice, it sounded so hateful."

Sheridan may have bristled at the mention of the horsemen, his tail giving a twitch that resembled that of the cat currently sulking in the chair across the room. It was true the horsemen and Halloween seemed to share a common enemy in the hunters, and yet he could not forget that the horsemen had attacked them on that island, that he had watched friends one of them was supposed to be guiding to safety perish on the path. Nor had he forgotten that it had been a horseman that had broken his tail. Whose side the horsemen were on he did not know, perhaps they were only following their own agenda, either way, he did not trust them.

"We found notes, there were others there before us, others from Halloween. I don't think they made it back."

There was a deep sorrow in his voice, a sense of horror that came flodding back as his hand tightened in Amphi's grasp. He had never really spoken of the events on the island, maybe he should have done so sooner. Trying to forget certainly wasn't working.

"There was a man there in a hood, he fought with a blue scythe. He told us...told us that his weapon had once been a halloween student. The weapon was alive!"

It was almost unthinkable, how close had they all been to the same fate?

"I think...he was at the haunted house as well."

He could never forget that weapon.

She didn't notice the dragon's discomfort at the horsemen, her thoughts internally drawn to his words instead. To her, the four horsemen we're a group of mistreated halloweeners who had become normal in their lives. Especially in the classes. She faintly remembered Aisa, The horsemen of death making a bold statement in sex ed class. That was as far as she knew of the horsemen though.

"I..." Her eye's widened in horror, notes from other Halloweeners? Not returning to their home? How could that be? It was....too horrifying for her to imagine and wish that it was not so, and to have the Dragon tell her, it made her fear the hunters all the more.

His hand tightened on hers, making her reach over and hug him. Blushing aside, she only wanted to comfort her friend. Odd as she had come for the same thing, to be comforted.

Her hug clenched around him tighter at the mention of weapons and such. Could humans be so cruel?!?! Her answer was yes.

Could she become a weapon if she was captured? Would she be able to do that?

No...no...no.

"The haunted house?" She hadn't been on this field trip either, why....why were all these trips so dangerous?!?

She took a deep breath as she pulled back and looked at Sheridan before sharing the next piece of information. "Sheridan...They...They came looking like students...the ones that hunted us and we're called back by the man with the scythe. They looked like any of us...They looked like Halloweeners."
PostPosted: Sat Dec 10, 2011 5:51 pm

For the moment, Sheridan had not caught the full weight of her words. Being that they'd been told reapers looked as humans did (and he remembered some of them had mistaken those they'd encountered on the island for reapers at first), it didn't seem unusual that a hunter could be mistaken for a reaper. But she hadn't said they'd appeared as reapers, did that mean...

"They looked like us?"

Like monsters? Or ghosts, demons, and undead? The hunters could appear as creatures of halloween? There was a look of horror in his eyes. If the hunters could take the form of halloweeners, what did that mean for them, how were they to know that the next creature they came across was not in fact a hunter in disguise? Who was there that they could trust?

He shook his head, what the jack were they supposed to do? It seemed they were woefully unprepared, outmatched by a foe they had no idea even existed until now.

"Why hasn't anyone been sent to stop them..."

Why? Why were they, -students-, the ones who were fighting the hunters? Sure the professors, boogeymen, and others far more skilled than they should have been the ones to take on the hunters. Let them face an ancient celestial dragon, the lot of them would have been fried or frozen many times over, they why wasn't this happening? What in jack's name were -they- supposed to do?

Her head nodded as she watched his face. Did he realize, that beyond Reapers who in fact looked a lot like the hunters, they had looked liked fellow monsters...undead...demons. It didn't matter, they pulled it off.

"They looked like me, you, friends...family. Succubus's, Vampires, I think one was a short little Undead raccoon." She shuddered as she remembered the ones that shot at her. "I didn't see them all but...they we're students like us, the same age, they even wore the red cloak for Red." She looked up, "The only way I could tell them apart was that they we're shooting the nets at us and then....They we're still the only ones there." Her eye's closed as she rubbed her forehead.

"I don't know." Her eyes started to fill with water as she looked down. "They scared me so much, and all I could see was other halloweeners....I don't even know what to do." Her hands wrung together. "My sister's have yet to hear of this but....If they did, I might be pulled back to the ocean. Perhaps it would be better? Perhaps it would be safer." She continued to hold his hand before looking up, "But I don't want to leave and give those Humans the power. I don't want...to not be strong about this." Even though she said this, she was terrified. Of the netting, of what he had told her, about becoming a weapon. Everything was just chaos, and for a creature who was of water, it unbalanced the scales of her sanity in unfavorable positions.
