There were however the odd occasions in which one or the other either chose to find other company or Dawn decided the next job was a tad too dangerous for his beloved sister to take part in. This was one of those days. So today Dusk wandered alone.

To Dusk skirted around a particular deep, bog by climbing onto the strong roots of the mangrove and there she paused for only a moment before continuing on. Her path was aimless. She meandered through the swamp with barely a thought to her destination. This was just one big waiting game from now until From Dawn returned.

User ImageIt was places like these that End It All could really find some heart pounding danger in. Actually, it had been the very are in which he had found his darling Fair Game, and currently, they were playing a horrifically terrifying version of hide and go seek, in which the pair would take up both rolls at once in hiding and seeking one another... So it was more like an active game of stealth camouflage and 'if I find you first, you'll be sorry'. But... Not all members of the small party could stay focused long enough to continue playing their game. No, a particularly vicious female caiman had been distracted by a bright orange blur through the foggy area, having decided that she would much rather have a leg of a mammal for once, instead of fish for a meal. Carefully, silently, she ducked just beneath the surface of the water and swam straight for Too Dusk.

Off in the not so far distance, End was growing quite impatient of not being completely surrounded in danger. In fact, he was quite fed up with it, and so the male had begun to search for his toothy familiar, quite irritated that she hadn't made this as fun as she usually did. "Fair! Fair, I'm done playing. Where are you?"

Anyone who had the vaguest knowledge on safe swamp travel would not be surprised to hear that Too Dusk had been eaten by a crocodile. She certainly seemed to have no thought for her well being as she was forced to abandon her path and splash waist deep into muddy water. It either never occurred to her that dangers lurked beneath the surface, or if it did, the possibility of coming to harm did not seem to worry her. Perhaps she had been so well protected by her brother for so long that the idea of actually being hurt seemed ridiculous.

Too Dusk had half pulled herself onto solid ground when she heard End It All’s call. Her ears flickered forward, head swinging around in the buck’s direction. “Hello?” Her voice was soft and inquisitive, but it somehow carried further than one would expect. A distraction would be wonderful. A distraction would make time go so much faster.

She gave the fainted smile and did not notice the caiman’s stealthy approach.

Ooh... Fair Game heard End calling, all right. But she was getting so close to that doe-- Ahaha! She'd even waded into the water for the caiman, how lovely. Now, if she could just clamp her jaws down on that precious flesh before her master got here, she'd be set... But ugh. Here, she already felt End It All splashing through the water toward her, ignoring all of the other possible dangers that he could have attracted. She was so close, though! Now was her chance--

"Fair, did you seriously get distracted by food? Don't you even think about moving! I can see you there! Don't think I can't!" Totally ignoring Too Dusk's presence, the trained, golden eyes of the buck narrowed at the spot in the water just before the doe's chest, scoffing as the caiman surfaced irritatedly and swam back to her master's side. He was entirely sure that she would eat him, given the chance, but the female reptile knew better. Or so he thought. Finally turning his attention to the pretty doe in front of him, his lip curled as he laughed at her inexperienced movements in the water, tail swishing below the surface in amusement. "Or were you offering yourself up for her lunch, lady? Shoulda just let her get you. I'm sorry, Fair. I didn't know she was practically laying herself out as a feast for you."

“Ah…” To Dusk breathed softly when the caiman rose to the surface within easy snapping distance, a brief hint of alarm flickered in her eyes. But there was hardly any point in panicking now, the danger was gone. Not to mention… “I don’t think I would have been that easy a meal.” She remarked softly. Then she put her focus into pulling herself out of the muck. Half of her bright coat was now covered in brown mud, and she blinked down at the buck with a vaguely amused smile. “What is your name?” The doe inquired as she watched him and his pet.

Not easy prey, she said? So that meant the doe was a fighter. Hmm... How interesting... Drawing himself expertly out of the watery sludge, he shook off his coat when he stood on solid ground, turning to see Fair Game sink back into the water, off in search for her own meal. He would meet up with her at night, in the same spot like they always did. Her exit did not concern him. "The name's End It All," the buck sighed as he flicked his tail clean of the dark substance, glad that his pelt had gotten used to the heavy substance on him, making the clean up a lot quicker. "and you interrupted my play-date with Fair Game, there. What's a doe like you doing around these parts? Playing games against Death, are we? You know what lurks in here, don't you? Rows and rows and rows of teeth..."

[Lol. I am made of so much fail. My cruddy brain has been making me type ‘too’ instead of ‘to’ all this time. XD /embarrassed forever and goes to change them all crycry]

“End It All.” To Dusk repeated the name thoughtfully. “I apologise. I did not intend to interrupt your fun.” Despite her small smile, she didn’t look particularly apologetic at all. Rather, she was beginning to look quite amused, as if she knew something the buck didn’t. “Do they?” She peered into the murky water as if expecting numerous beasts to suddenly rise up and show her how ‘toothy’ they actually were. The doe looked back at him, nose wrinkling slightly and ears flicking back. “Not against, with.” She blinked. “But not today…”

((Lololol, it's okay, Ruri baby. Our brains have the tendency to do that to us. bleh))

Oh? Oh, oh, oh dear... This doe was cocky. Cocky and stupidly courageous and-- "Ahaha! You... You are an interesting one. I can't tell you how much I appreciate a good dance with Death. It's rare to find someone with similar tastes of... A lifestyle." Shaking his head as he listened to the quiet noises of the bog, chuckling quietly to himself when a croaking frog suddenly met its noisy end with a muted splash of water. Fair Game seemed to have caught her lunch. Wonderful. "So, brave one, you know my name. It's only a fair trade if you give me yours. Don't make me hold your head underwater until you tell me." And although End It All laughed, seemingly cheery as his golden eyes narrowed, it wasn't quite clear if he... Was really kidding. In all honesty, it wouldn't be surprising if he wasn't. He had once drowned a foxbun on accident, having been holding the creature underwater with his hoof tight on its tail for not wanting to... Erm. Play with him. When the poor creature had stopped struggling, he immediately got bored, and had left the dead animal for Fair Game's dinner. At least she appreciated its loss of life.

Again she looked amused. “Mm.” To Dusk made a non-committal sound. For her, Death equated to her brother and she was enjoying having her own personal joke for once. She idly flicked mud off her tail and watched the male with a lazy, half-lidded gaze. “To Dusk.” She answered softly, not responding to the threat behind his words in any noticeable way. Of course she had not missed the darkness that lurked beneath his laughter, but this buck could hardly cause a threat to her wellbeing even if he did decide on violence.
