Roll a Nine: Seashore Field: Split down the middle between land and sea, this field compliments land and water type pokemon. On the west end of the field is the land section: fine grained sand gradually slopes downward to meet the salt water on the east end of the battleground. A single palm tree wavers lightly in the breeze while shells are scattered in random places in and on the sand. In the water half of the battleground, the water laps at the sand much like at a real beach; when it retracts it leaves behind strands of seaweed and pieces of coral. Both are found under the water, offering shelter for water-types (or those who can hold their breath for great periods of times). This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to GROUND and WATER type attacks.

Gangrel scurried in the sand, feigning disinterest in the coming battle. While on the exterior, he looked completely uninterested, he was bursting with excitement on the inside. His opponent was the best he had ever fought, a lucario named Erebos.
Walpurgis knew the rattata's bored face was a facade. The little rodent loved fighting powerful pokemon, always aspiring to be stronger. Erebos had given him a good run in their last battle, and so Walpurgis had requested a rematch with the lucario's trainer.
Putting his hand above his eye to shield from the sun, Walpurgis waited for their opponents.

When Genesis' opponent had asked for a rematch, Genesis had gladly accepted. She knew Erebos needed to get stronger, and what better way to do and check his progress, as well, than to have him go against opponents he had lost against before?
When they reached the field, Genesis dipped her head in acknowledgement towards the other trainer before signalling Erebos to continue, letting him know that he would be in control of the battle once more.
Erebos, too, was more than willing to fight the Rattata. As he stepped on the beach-esque field now, he regarded Gangrel once more, although this time his gaze lacked the indifference it held before. He knew his opponent's strengths now, and did not doubt them.

Gangrel smiled as the lucario's red eyes met his own. They had done this before - there would be no reason to feel out the opponent. The battle would begin full throttle. Gangrel's eyes turned a light blue, and Gangrel opened his mouth as a burst of ice zoomed to the lucario.
Gangrel knew the lucario's strength all too well - his Cross Chops were devastating, and Erebos would need to be incapacitated if Gangrel was to win.

Erebos, now (very) familiar with Gangrel's ability (or, perhaps, preference to) freezing, immediately leapt out of the way when the tell-tale sign of lightening eyes first showed. Thankfully, although the beam was more concentrated and, therefore, stronger, it was focused in a line and easier to dodge.
When he thought it safe to advance, he propelled himself forward, paw spikes glowing purple in preparation of Poison Jab.

Gangrel leapt out of the way as poison sept into the sand.

Landing gracefully, Gangrel turned to Erebos, flashing his blue eyes as he shot another ice beam at the lucario.

Erebos had never been one for words. In response to the Rattata's comment, he merely dodged the next beam of ice and tried a Poison Jab once more.

Gangrel again dodged the noxious blow, firing another ice beam in response. Someone would succeed first, and Gangrel would be the one, given the chance.

Once again, Erebos found himself encased in a layer of ice. This time, however, he had somewhat expected it and ensured the coating was thin enough for him to escape much sooner than before.

Although the sand itself was not painful (as he knew it could be when propelled at high speeds from previous experience), the impact was. However, it shattered the ice even more, and he shifted to try and break it.

Erebos was free once more, but not quick enough to avoid the next round of Dig. Raising his lips in silent response, he twisted as he fell to land on his paws before attempting another Poison Jab.
