It was about now that Hypnos was really wishing that she was as good at getting food from strangers as ********* was. ********* could have emptied out her fridge last year, after only meeting the feline once, single handed... or single pawed... or single handed? Hypnos wasn't sure anymore after meeting ********* as a human, but that was aside the point.
The cat was hungry and that's all there was to it. As tempting of a smell many things in the garbage were, Hypnos was absolutely not doing that. There were many things she allowed her body to do out of habit but digging into the trash was not a choice she was going to make. There had to be another way to get food when you weren't supposed to be able to talk! It couldn't be that hard, could it? All she had to do was find the right location and the right... victim!
It didn't take very long for the small kitten to find herself a prime location. It was a small, local diner. She wasn't sure what kind of food was served there but she could just barely make out the words "best in town" from one of the signs above. It looked promising, and if it was the best in town, how bad could it be? The only problem that remained was getting inside, and that would be a tricky task indeed! It involved the proper timing and a stealth the child wouldn't normally possess.
It didn't take very long for the door to swing open as a family entered the diner, allowing Hypnos the prime opportunity to sneak inside while each member of the family made their way inside. It involved darting between some feet and almost getting her tail stepped on by one rowdy boy but the kitten had made it inside without (mostly) a hitch.
'Hm,' the kitten thought as she looked around. Just where, oh where, was the best place to get food now? Darting carefully under toes and under tables, it was time to scope out the personnel.

It was one of those rare occasions that Ridley and her brother Conner went out to eat without their parents, either it was a parents' night in with kicking the children out or they had gone to a movie and they had gotten hungry afterwards; this time it proved to be the later. Her older brother had taken her to see The Muppets and their stomachs had begged them for a small meal afterwards ... and movie theater food was so expensive.
The diner prided itself for its 50's style atmosphere and classic made from real ice cream milk shakes and home made fries. Their prices weren't too bad either, which Conner didn't mind - after all, this was a place their parents had taken them all the time so he knew it would be cheap enough from experience.
The siblings were seated at a booth in a not really notable area, having already ordered and were waiting patiently for their food. Ridley was trying to get her brother to pop the straw she had wrapped around her fingers - something Ellie had shown her - when the cream puffball that was Hypnos caught her attention.
"Aa!" She blinked, her arms pulling back to the table to prop herself up better.
"What now?" Her older brother sighed, turning his head to see what his younger sister might have been.
"I thought I saw a cat!" She told him, excited.
"Ridley, they don't allow animals in here..."
But it was like she didn't even hear him as she hopped from her seat and made her way past the other booths to see if what she had seen what was she had actually seen. Conner just remained where he was, sighing heavily again and was nearly tempted to rest his head on the table in a defeated manner. His sister was so weird.
"Kitty kitty ~" Ridley called, looking under some of the tables to see where the kitten had gone.

Hypnos could barely believe her eyes when suddenly Ridley, of all people, suddenly popped her head under one of the empty tables she'd been hiding under. She froze, not sure what to do, making a small movement to back away from the orange haired friend. She had to remember that she was a cat, she couldn't talk. What was she going to do?
"Nyan?" was the answer.

Ridley's head nearly hit the top of the table she had been looking under when the she heard the soft cry from the cat. She was delighted if not totally surprised that her wild guess of seeing a cat was true.
A few of the occupants from a nearby table was staring at her oddly, ready to ask if she was okay when the orange haired girl made a move for Hypnos. "Hey kitty," she beamed, brushing her hand against the soft creamy fur. The cat was young, from the looks of it though it was a bit hard to see from under the fake wood so Ridley simply reached for Hypnos' midsection and pulled her out.
Indeed, the cat was small. A kitten! With a star on her head! Ridley seemed almost transfixed on the little golden star when she realized it was there. A guardian cat? Or... perhaps, someone stuck like Niflhel? "What are you doing in here?" She whispered, knowing now to talk a little softer.

Hypnos shouldn't have been surprised to see how happy Ridley seemed to be with the whole situation and she shouldn't have been surprised to see the child's hands suddenly stretch out toward her. However, she was surprised at both counts and made a meek noise upon being picked up by her midsection. She didn't fuss about it, trusting her friend Ridley not to drop her or mistreat her any like the boys had.
Being picked up was the least of Hypnos' troubles though, not when Ridley was talking to her like she was expecting an answer. Although Hypnos had met both Ridley and Hygiea, she didn't know they were the same person, and thus the child didn't know it was safe to talk to her. Instead she was left staring at the orange haired child, unusually familiar blue eyes staring at her with the look. It was an entirely unintentional look, but Ainsley had seen the new Puss in Boots movie that hit theaters a month previously.

Ridley probably was a better choice in the matter of who would find the little kitten, in a sense. She at least knew how to hold a cat properly, cradling Hypnos in her arms like she was a priceless item that should not be dropped no matter what. The attention would probably get to the girl-turned-cat though.
The lack of response from the kitten with the star made her a little sad though, she was expecting something at least. Did she not know she could talk or was she trying to hold it back? She wanted to get in another question but by then both Conner and a waitress descended upon the pair.
Conner was surprised, "oh, you did see a cat."
While the waitress wasn't pleased, "we don't allow animals in our establishment," she frowned.
The waitress was the first that Ridley turned to, with a pout on her face. "But people bring their little annoying dogs in all the time!" She was sure there was one somewhere around her after all. "And she's lost!" Well, she couldn't be certain, but it was a good enough story, "and she'll be good! She has a star on her forehead and stuff that means," wait.... "she's special." Not a total lie, but true at least. Ridley sat defiantly with the kitten in her arms, tightening her grip while Conner tried to kneel by his sister and get her to move.
He managed to get her standing, hard pressed to keep the kitten in her grasp. Her older brother sighed knowing his sister had a firm stance on anything that involved felines, "what if we took a seat outside?" He didn't want to, never liking to sit outside but it would be an option to appease both parties.
At least the waitress took it and nodded, "fine. Go find a seat outside and I'll have your orders moved with you." She waved her hands for them to move. Conner made a move to herd his sister until he remembered their drinks, so he pushed his sister forward instead.
"Go find some seats, I'll go get our stuff."
Ridley nodded and made her way, this gave the two another chance alone. With one hand she pushed the door open that lead back outside to the patio area just in front of the restaurant and made her way through a few more seated patrons and empty tables and found a more isolated one and sat. "I know you can talk ~" she told the cat, smiling. "You're a guardian, aren't you or.. maybe someone like Niflhel or Egeria who got stuck like that?"

There was nothing Hypnos could say while Ridley tried to defend her pretense at the restaurant. At least, there was nothing she could say without possibly causing the waitress to faint, Ridley to possibly scream and then who knows what horrible things after news got out that there was a talking cat. Even if she wanted to say something and didn't care what happened, there was a tightening grip on her that didn't exactly encourage breathing let alone talking.
It seemed like forever but eventually Ridley was carrying her outside to the sitting area outside of the restaurant. She didn't exactly mind, but she was still hungry and now she was even further away from food. It was probably a good thing she wasn't eating though because when Ridley said 'I know you can talk ~', she would have choked on her food.
"Wha?" She slipped, suspiciously her paws reaching up to cover her mouth. Normal cats did not do that. The cat was out of the bag but it certainly didn't want to remain there willingly. There were many questions that were floating around Hypnos' mind now and many of them revolved around the train of thought: why would Ridley know that? Why does Ridley know Egeria?
"How do you know?" She asked meekly.
"How do you know 'guardian cat'?"
So many questions!

The two were still alone, from the best Ridley could tell as she peeked behind her to see the progress of her brother. He seemed to be trying to arrange their drinks the last time she checked but her attention was back to the small cat in front of her.
Of course, how to explain it to the little kitten was another matter. But well, this was Ridley and there was no subtle way about it. "I'm Hygiea." She smiled brightly - 'cause blurting it out was the best way for her as opposed to HugBell's method of just bringing out her pen or something.
"So, which version are you, huh huh? Real or were you a person?" Since her question hadn't been answered before, best to ask it again. This time with her reaching over and scratching Hypnos behind the ears.

Ridley was Hygiea? Hypnos never would have believed that a classmate of hers was also a senshi, although it made perfect sense. She could recall the day she'd left the classroom after Ridley and it was that very day that she had met Hygeia in the hallway. How could she have not noticed? They both had that hoopy hairstyle and orange eyes, and a very apparent love for cats. How? How did she miss it?
Hypnos knew about glamour, having met her sister similarly, but she could still hardly believe it.
"Really?" seemed to slip out unconsciously. "I'm Hypnos, remember me?"
We met that one time in the hallway when the youmas attacked our school. Well, maybe not everyone would remember that. Well, maybe everyone would. It seemed sort of important when monsters attack your school and a place you thought was safe was no longer safe. "We go to the same school," she said, if for any reason to remind her of the time they'd met. Of course, she hadn't been to school in a few days thanks to the fact she was a cat and it was absolutely dreadful. Unlike Ridley, Ainsley really liked to go to school and to suddenly have that taken away from her was absolutely dreadful!
"I'm A–" she was about to say she was Ainsley but then she stopped. There was a woman walking by Ridley and herself, but she stopped for a moment while giving Ridley a strange look as if to say that child must be too old to be talking to cats like that. The woman didn't just go away either, she stood there, staring so impolitely at the two of them that Hypnos started to wonder if she'd heard her talking.

Hypnos! Now that Ridley had a name, she could kind of see the resemblance, like with the other few humans turned felines she had encountered in the past couple of days. And she was just as adorable as the others, and it wasn't just a bias opinion since she knew who this was.
The orange haired girl grinned from ear to ear, her memory wasn't the greatest but that sort of event was something that would be hard to forget. "You're the one with the bunny doll and was also attacked by that red head with those arrows and stuff. You have a cat too right? I healed her, didn't I? The one with the lace collar and stuff? How has she been? Does she know you're a cat now? I hope she's being good to you!" She rambled on, unaware that a woman was staring at them oddly.
Perhaps she was used to this, given how much attention she would give cats on the street. "We go to the same school? That's so cool!" Ridley had to wonder who she was now, would she say spill the beans?
The woman continued to stand there, judgmental eyes on the duo of cat and child. She didn't even budge when Ridley's older brother returned with their belongings and placed them on the table.
"I hope you're not planning on taking this one home too..."
"Maybe for a little while!" Ridley giggled, letting her fingers play in the fur along the kitten's back, "once I find out who she is I'll take her home though, her parents might be worried about her and stuff."
