Roll an Eleven: Canyon Field: The canyon walls towers high towards the ceiling while the ground sinks downwards several levels, making the top and bottom of the field very difficult to see without special equipment. The cliff faces are very steep with little ridge support for grabbing and climbing; on top of that, the rock faces are very damp which makes grabbing and holding on very difficult. A few skinny trees and roots jut out from the cliff and allow smaller, nimbler pokemon to grab and swing around. At the very bottom of the canyon’s long drop is a deep pool of water. Keeping up is difficult for trainers on this particular battlefield, so stadium officials have set up a special view screen on each of the trainer platforms. A mini camera will follow your pokemon around while it battles (of course, it’s programmed to back off when a pokemon does an attack) and the view screen will enable trainers to issue commands to their companions via microphone. This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to FLYING and ROCK type attacks.

Genesis leaned against the railing of the trainer's platform, peering down into the depths of the field. Riiighhhttt. She definitely wasn't going to hand out commands like this, when the limited view (despite the help of the mounted screens and roving camers) made her unable to properly gauge what would be best.
"This'll be your call again," she told her Lucario before leaning back to wait for their opponent.
Erebos nodded; he had expected her to say that. This was one of the fields Genesis preferred not to be in, and although she understood that a trainer should be able to give out instructions no matter the terrain, she preferred her own Pokémon to do their work, in the end, trusting in their loyalty towards her and her alone.
It was a trust that had yet to be broken and, after a brief inspection, Erebos leapt onto the field to do as she requested.

"Alright!" Sienna exclaimed with glee at the field. It was one of her favorite fields, despite the limited view. Hopefully Frey would be less of a grump because of it. "C'mon out," The bird keeper tossed her Pidgeot's safari ball into the air.
Frey appeared in a flash of read, circling above the rocky walls at the same level as Sienna's box. "<Oh boy, I will admit, this is better than what I expected.>" He chirped neutrally, what could be considered feathery eyebrows raised. His trainer took it as a positive reaction to the field and was thrilled.
Sienna yelled across the canyon a "HELLO!" to her opponent. She could probably get Frey's camera to view the trainer, but she didn't like fiddling with technology. "Okay boy. You know the drill with this one. I hate the cameras, and you like going solo most of the time anyway. So just play to your strengths, you know what to do."
Frey gave a rare grin to his trainer. "<Aye, aye, captain~>" He chirped and dipped in flight to find his opponent.

Frey found the Lucario easily with his sharp eyesight. Okay. First thing he wanted to do before doing any real hits on the guy was lower his attack. It was one of the strategies Sienna taught him early on. Originally he didn't like it at all, the point of battling was to battle, but eventually he saw the benefit of it and it became instinct.
The Pidgeot sent a whirlwind of feathers the Lucario's way, designed to cover him (or her - Frey didn't know at this point really) in soft, attack-lowering downy feathers. He quickly flew as out of sight as he could get, anticipating retaliation.

"Hello!" Genesis called back, smiling. "Looking forward to the battle!"
She leaned forward against the edge of the trainer's platform, noticing that, like Lucario, her Pidgeot was acting without guidance. It was the first time she had seen anyone do so save for herself since she entered the Stadium and her smile broadened. She didn't doubt the Pidgeot was of impressive strength now and attempted to peer at them from her vantage point, resorting to the screens if necessary.
It was surprisingly how similar the two were, for Erebos had once felt the same way about stat affecting moves. Now, however, it was a staple to his style of battling, and he closed his eyes and used Calm Mind to cancel out the dance of feathers.

Sienna watched from the view-screen, and was proud that Frey had trusted her advice and started with a stat-effecting move. Most of their fights together had been over battling strategy. Nonetheless, he was her starter pokemon in the region and they had a pretty strong bond now.
Back in the middle of the canyon, Frey was mildly surprised he had run into another pokemon with the same strategy. No point in wasting time over stats then! On to the real stuff.
The Pidgeot circled around and dove at the canine pokemon, sending shape gusts of air as his opponent, the windy arena boosting the attack.

((Lmfaooooo oh god, they really are similar. XD))
Erebos crouched as slices of air struck him, the blows sharp and strengthened by the lay of the land. When he thought the Pidgeot had stuck all it could before it would be forced to stop and regain altitude to prevent from falling, he lashed out with Stone Edge, the move causing rings of blue to form around him that soon turned to stone and threw themselves at the enemy.

Frey was a little too comfortable with the surroundings, and forgot about the rocks. Stupid rocks. The stupid rocks were what pummeled him into another wall of rock, doing a great deal of damage. This guy was good! He would have admired it a little more if he weren't in so much pain.
The Pidgeot retaliated with a Sand-Attack, remembering Lucario's had a weakness to ground. He hoped he was remembering correctly as he flew close to the wall and stirred up a small sandstorm with his wings, sending it the Lucario's way.

((Totes, man. XD And they can trade tips on how to groom their impressive above-eye-plumage along with battle sekrits. emotion_awesome Edit: EVEN MISSING BUDDIES LMFAO. XD))
Erebos watched with silent satisfaction as the Pidgeot suffered through his attack, rock upon rock landing on the feathered Pokémon's back. When it came at him again, he leapt out of the way, frowning. Even sand, when propelled at high speeds, could be dangerous, especially to the likes of him, and he was glad he was able to evade this time around.
Tensing once more, he let loose another barrage of Stone Edge.

This time, Frey had the sense to see the GIANT GLOWING ROCKS hurtling toward him and quickly lowered his altitude. He almost did a flip in the air, but that would be a waste of time and an opening for his enemy.
Flying up and over the Lucario, the Pidgeot shook out the debris of rock from his feathers and created a current of air to send the sand at his opponent.

((Ffff now we must go in search of the father and take all of his powerful chillun! emotion_dowant ))
This time, Erebos was not so lucky when it came to dodging. A strong burst of sand hit him from the side, bruising him but not cutting as the Pidgeot's previous flying move had done.
Running ahead to both loosen his tensed muscles and get him closer to his opponent, he tried Stone Edge once more.

(( ADVENTURE IS OUT THERE! XD ))
Frey dodged the giant rocks once more, and sailed along the rocky wall.
Gathering sand from the wall, he created a tailwind that would send the sand in the right direction.

((And treasure! emotion_awesome SALLY FORTH, EREBOS, FREY! Ere: emotion_eyebrow ))
Erebos snarled with annoyance as, once more, his attack was easily dodge and a burst of sand was thrown his was for compensation. Shaking himself and trying for a more accurate attack, he ran alongside the level floor of the cliff base, trying to get a linear path between he and the constantly moving bird.

(( FOR HONOR AND GLORY! Frey: .__. suuuuure ))
Frey shook himself off, rubble and dust falling down waaaaay to the bottom of the canyon field. That time he didn't dodge the large boulders, much to his frustration. In response to the Lucario's growl, he glared.
Instead of yet another Sand-Attack, he tried an Air Cutter again. The Pidgeot directed unfriendly gusts of wind at his opponent once more.
