so i was thinking of a california king snake or a corn snake.. i just want to know what a good beginner breed is... and not to priciey$$

Start with a corn snake. You can find many amazing color and pattern morphs fairly inexpensive. THey dont get to big, normally no more then 6ft. Generally only 5ft for females, however ifyou get a corn snake that is a cross of a corn snake and rat snake the females can get up to 6ft.
Cali. Kings can be VERY jumpy and nippy and some NEVER settle down.
Ball Pythons are OK starter snakes, but they can get stressed very easily and be hard eaters.

If your willing to spend the money rosey boas are also good. They dont get that big and their the friendlyest snake you can get.
