Rolled a four: Water field: Five large platforms float on the surface of the deep pool. Four form a diamond formation around the single platform in the center. While land pokemon can move around on this field, it is mainly built for water-types. This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to WATER type attacks.

Entering the trainer box, Walpurgis surveyed the arena. It seemed to benefit water-types, and Gangrel had no water-type attacks to speak of. This field did nothing for them. Regardless, Gangrel would want to fight, and so Walpurgis sent the rattata out into the arena, watching it appear on the platform closest to him.
The platform was unstable, shifting under the sudden weight of the rattata, and Gangrel was splashed by a bit of water which he quickly shimmied off. With an angry chatter to Walpurgis that was met with a shrug of What do you want me to do?, Gangrel was ready to get under way.

Genesis entered the field soon after, glad to find a room already prepared and in need of an opponent. It beat waiting around for someone to come to her, and she stepped quickly into the trainer's platform so that the other wouldn't have to wait too long, either (see? She could be considerate if she wanted to).
From afar, she couldn't truly recognize the other as another Grunt and, although he did seem familiar, she simply thought it was another trainer she probably saw beforehand, as she had spent quite a few days here.
Waving enthusiastically as her disguise, that of Karin, called for, she said, "Hey! Looking forward to battling you!" before sending her Lucario out onto the field.
Erebos leapt onto a floating platform, the sudden weight causing it to slosh around. He waited a few moments, balanced, as it calmed and settled once more, before eying the rest of the field, along with his opponent.

Walpurgis waved to his opponent as Gangrel surveyed the Lucario. Gangrel chattered excitedly, as the Lucario looked quite strong.
"We're up first! Gangrel, use Blizzard to try and catch it!"
With a nod of acknowledgement, Gangrel's eyes turned a light blue as the temperature decreased. A flurry of snow formed, and the rattata willed it towards Erebos.

Erebos snarled at the attack, but the adjacent platforms were too far away for him to jump to in time. Still, he tried, but the sloshing water that splashed onto his pelt did little to help, and the cold ice soon caught him in its grip.
Genesis sighed when the attack finished, sitting down to await the eventual thaw. She had been through a number of frozen Pokémon herself, and had wondered if the boredom that accompanied the waiting could be even worse than the afflicted Pokémon.

Walpurgis allowed himself a silent "Yes!", and continued to command Gangrel to use Rock Smash next.
His eyes back to their normal red, Gangrel grinned as he conjured a rock which he sent flying towards the frozen Lucario.

Erebos, his face frozen in a baring of fangs, thought it accurately portrayed his feelings. Despite the block of ice that encased him, he could feel the Rattata's attack reach him, but the pain he felt could not be expressed when his limbs were denied movement.

The Rattata's next attack struck, but this time, Erebos found it didn't hurt as much. Perhaps it was because of where the ice had been hit, but regardless, it was only the block that was harmed now instead of him. Cracks ran down the sides, and Erebos struggled to free himself.

Gangrel smiled wickedly. The previous rock smash had done little, but that mattered the same amount. The ice was beginning to crack, and so Gangrel figured he only had time for one more potshot. He'd make it count.
He sent another Rock Smash over, but this time was not to damage, but to debilitate.

Erebos struggling proved helpful, for the ice soon broke. Before he could safely land and distance himself from the other, however, the Rattata attacked him roughly, adding to the chunks of ice raining down on him from his earlier break. The blow would no doubt hinder him throughout.
To compensate, he used Calm Mind to raise his defense.

Gangrel's chattering stopped, and he glared menacingly at the Lucario. It was good, he had to admit. But he had a goal, and he was going to reach it.
Another rock materialized and flew towards Erebos.

The rock hit him squarely in the face, breaking his concentration. Erebos snapped open his eyes, bristling. He didn't think the two could continue simply cancelling out the other's stat boosts, so he lunged att he rat instead, hoping to paralyze it with a Force Palm.
