Kiume layed in the dirt, wistfully gazing at the aging date in his paws. He tore at the flesh, pondering returning to his pride... Ever since Raposa's little breakdown, he had figured she never wanted to see him again. But even the thought of it brought dread. The cheetah peeled away at the smelly fruit, and in the process, peeled away the thoughts that caused him so much anxiety.
Finally, with a huff the cheetah got to his paws and started his journey home. His tail drooped, and he almost had to drag it across the dirt. Moake was probably already there, waiting for him...
Kiume stopped, turning his head to give the pride of partying felines one last look. He'd never forget all the things he had experienced here. But the sentimental thought was interrupted as he saw a reddish figure. Raposa? He froze and stared, waiting...

Raposa had obviously been looking for him, her midnight paws were covered with dust and when she stopped in front of him, just out of paws reach, she was panting some. However it was her green expressive eyes that showed why it was she had been looking for him when she finally managed to catch up to where he was. They were filled with a jumble of emotions, the foremost was hurt, then confusion, then hurt again.
'Why?" she asked softly, the hurt in the one word like brittle glass, " why couldn't you tell me? Why did you have to send Moake to tell me? It was cruel..." she paused looking at her paws, " he was cruel."

Kiume was flooded with a mix of emotions when Raposa approached. Had she come to scream at him, or cry on him again? Either way, he figured he probably deserved it. But when she got close enough, Ki saw the hurt and confusion in her eyes. Kiume frowned and wondered if now was the correct time to give her a comforting hug.
"Why... why what?" Kiume listened with a tilted head, his lavender mane falling into his eyes. Moake was brought into the conversation and the cheetah instantly stiffened. Moake didn't want him to be here... and he especially didn't want him to be here with a woman. That rabbit had a lot of dirt on Ki that he could easily spill to repel any female. That's what Ki feared. "I didn't send him anywhere." He said sternly, reluctant to let the anger towards the rabbit show in his eyes. "What did Moake say?"

She heard the strain in his voice and laid her ears back against her head, her eyes still on her paws, her voice near a whisper, " That you were lying to me. That I was nothing special. That you would never want to have cubs with someone so weak as I am." Raposa kept her voice steady, though she did not once look up at Kiume.
" He came to my den, told me he was going to save me from you because you had a few screws loose in your head, that you were crazy. I told him to go sit with Fionn for awhile if he wanted to know crazy."
The female knew she was close to babbling now, but she couldn't help it at this point, " We had a fight, and I called him a blue toed creep." She swallowed, suddenly not so sure of all the brave words she had told the little critter at her den.
Kiume was so handsome, graceful, any female would want him, he could have any of them, " You can just tell me Kiume, you don't have to sneak away, or send that long ear...uh...your friend to tell me you've changed your mind.It really is ok."
She looked up and gave him a gentle, sad smile, " Don't you know all the meerkat tales? The ball ends and the prince returns home, and the princess goes back to being who she was before." She laid one of her delicate paws on his cheek, " Thank you, for letting me be the princess, just once Kiume. I wont keep you from all the responsibilities you and Moake have. Despite what your friend might think, I am not that selfish. "

Kiume blinked, listening with erect ears. He paused, stunned into silence for a moment as he digested what Raposa had just told him... He had never known Moake to be so verbally vicious before.
Kiume's dark fur hid the intense blush on his flesh as Raposa revealed that the rabbit had told her he was crazy. That was something that Kiume trusted with Mo, and no one else. He had the occasional hallucination just like his mother, but no one was to know about it. The secret had been exposed, but it didn't appear as if Moake had disclosed the details of that secret. Yet still, Kiume felt utterly betrayed and enraged. He kept these feelings at bay. Raposa would come first, then he would deal with the rodent.
Then she went on about the lies that Moake had apparently tried to convince her were true. The rage boiled further, but Kiume kept his look composed and concerned. "Raposa... I don't know what got into Moake to tell you that, but.. It's not true. My time with you has been... the best in my life." He said, honestly expressing his feelings as he inched closer to the female.
"I want to stay here and see if we can be more than friends, but..." Kiume glanced towards the glittering snow-capped mountains in the distance which sheltered his home land. "Moake is right that I have responsibilities else where. I guess I was just hoping I could run away from them..." He sighed and looked at Raposa with a conflicted expression. "I'm really sorry for all the trouble I've caused you... And for everything that Moake said."
The cheetah turned reluctantly towards the mountains... But a painful tug in his chest kept him from moving any further. He just couldn't make himself leave Raposa.

She kept her eyes down, looking at her paws, her soft voice a bare breath on the wind, " Take me with you..."
Raposa closed her green jeweled eyes, swallowing back the fear that came with those four words, for she'd never left the place of her birth, nothing past the lands the clans claimed, but she knew that the pain in her chest would kill her if she just watched Kiume walk away from her.
The lovely female looked at him over her shoulder, fear in every ounce of her para language, fear that he would say no..or that he would say yes..or that he would say nothing at all.
" Take me with you...Kiume."

Kiume practically sped around with the females words. Did she just say what he thought she said? It was so quiet... The male leaned in closer, and the second time the words were spoken, there was no mistake.
The cheetah was ecstatic at first. His tail flung up and he perked with eagerness, hopping from one paw to the next as he saw millions of possibilities open up. "Raposa, that's a fantastic idea!" With this he didn't have to feel so conflicted anymore. He didn't need to choose between going home and feeling miserable or staying here and feeling miserable. Raposa would just come along with him! Everything is solved, its as simple as that!
Kiume paused, suddenly looking doubtful as more thoughts bubbled to the surface of his mind. "Are you sure...? I mean, wouldn't you miss your home?"

Raposa looked at her Pride, at the to and fro of all the clans cleaning up after the celebration. It was such a common sight for her now, one she had seen all her life. Would she miss it? Yes, she would, but it wouldn't be forever. It couldn't be. She felt it deep in her heart that Kiume was a fleeting joy, but he would be one she would hold onto as long as she could.
Eventually the Prince would leave, and the Princess would go back to being just herself. She could live with that.
" Yes Kiume, I will miss my home, but it won't be forever. I don't think your..um...friend will let me stay. When, if..we have cubs, just let me bring at least one home here with me. So I have something to remember your beautiful eyes with."
She gave him a tentative smile, " Besides, I want more then one dance with you Kiume."

A glittering smile came to the cheetah's face, and he dove into Raposa for an affectionate nuzzle. There was no words available to his lips to describe how glad he was.
"Well, if it turns out you like it..." He said, swiping the female's nose fondly with his tongue. "I don't care what the rabbit says. You can stay if you want to."
"Well, let's go!" The sensitivity in his voice suddenly fled as Kiume bounded back towards his home. "My pride is up in between those mountains there! It's not too far, we can make it in a few days if we're quick on our toes!" Flooded with excitement and energy, the young cheetah bounced in a circle around Raposa. This was going to be... wonderful.

Lorne_Sionn Raposa laughed at him bouncing around her, he seemed happy to have her come with her, but she wasn't so sure that the blue toed little cretin was going to agree with him. She saw a lot of problems with that one, and it worried her.
However, she wouldn't let it bother her right now, she'd let the joy she was feeling fill her chest, and be happy, truly happy for the adventure she was about to embark on.
" That doesn't seem to far Kiume, but I need to tell my Queen where I am going, and that I will send word frequently, ok?"
She leaned in and gave him a quick lick on the muzzle and dashed off to do what she needed to do to so she could leave with Kiume as soon as she could.
