After Kerke had left the company of the female cheetah he set his mind back on finding the leopardess. He had nearly forgotten that he was working on an apology for her, so preoccupied with his a sudden new companion as he had been. The apology he had previously been working on floating back through his head as he tried to refine it. He still wasn’t sure exactly what it was he was apologizing for anyways, but at this point he didn’t quite care. Finding the leopardess however would be the problem. He barely knew her, so it was impossible for him to really know where she liked to hang out. His mind went back to that fallen tree. She had seemed fond of that spot, perhaps. He wasn’t quite sure really, but it was certainly worth a try. After a moment to gain his bearings he turned and heading back in the direction he remembered it being.
Lost. He had somehow managed to get himself lost. Kerke was never bad at directions, but perhaps his distractions of another lady had thrown him off. That was surely it. However he was not one to give up, and attempted to find any familiar landmarks that might help. He didn’t quite recognize anything right off. A tree here and there, grass, some rocks. Mostly grass though, and grass was not an easy thing to make a landmark with. Grass, just a bunch of grass. Kerke sighed but continued forward. Perhaps if he kept moving he would come across something that would be familiar, and finally he did. It wasn’t a big something, just a couple rocks leaning against each other, but it was a familiar couple of leaning rocks at least. He trotted over to them, circling the little landmark to try and remember what side of them he had first seen, then he could figure out what direction he had been coming from. After circling them a few times, nearly ten, he finally decided on a direction.
It seemed to be further than he remembered travelling, however finally he came to a more familiar sight. The fallen tree lay before him, though there did not appear to be anyone atop it. Kerke huffed loudly as he came closer, circling the tree to make sure she wasn’t laying beside it for whatever reasons. Another sigh escaped him. It seemed she was not here then. Kerke sat beside the fallen tree, mulling over his options. He could try and continue to search for her, but that would likely not get him very far. There were any number of places she could be, and he was not about to search all over the lands to try and find some leopardess he barely knew to apologize for who knows what.
The only option he could come across that sounded good was to try and stick around the tree for a while. If she did like this spot then she was sure to come back to it. However if she didn’t return for a few days then he could take his leave and forget about it. There was food enough to hunt around here, water within a short enough distance so he wouldn't get lost. Kerke settled down beside the fallen tree for a bit of a nap while he waited.
