There had been dreams, though as the dozing mare began to wake she couldn't quite recall a single one with any sort of clarity. Surely there had been flying, there nearly always was, and the presence of colorful wings around her. She could have sworn she recalled the brush of vibrant plumage against her hip.. Or perhaps it was fur?
Slitted eyes cracked open as a small shift of her leg brought the tickling sensation of soft fluff against her side, and she rolled her eyes down to glance at the tail still wrapped around her. It was gray, scaled and covered in downy fur, and for a moment she couldn't recall what it was doing there. Then she felt the raise and fall of the warm figure beneath her as they slept on, and a slow smile began to ease along colored lips. Now she called her little stumble and the charming stallion she had fallen to sleep against.
He was sleeping still, or so she guessed. He appeared to be at the very least, and she couldn't resist stealing an appreciative gaze along the edge of his jaw and the dainty points of fangs peeking below his lip. He was a handsome stallion, but that had been apparent the first time she'd laid eyes on him. She hadn't expected him to be so very charming though, and the thought had her snuggling a little tighter against him, nose raising so she could huff a warm plume of breath against the underside of his chin, then his ear, before she relented and rubbed her cheek along his throat.
"Wakey wakey." She kept her voice soft, luring him out of his dreams kindly, rather then yanking him into consciousness. The sun was setting, they'd slept for some time. And if they remained where they were it was bound to grow chilly in time. Mera didn't like the cold, never had, and she suspected her serpentine attributes were to blame for it. "Roarke," she cooed, nibbling his mane.

Roarke slept rather like a rock actually. Once he was asleep it was no small feat to wake him. Every outside force managed to blend into his dreams so perfectly that he didn't necessarily notice that something was going on without serious persistence. For a short while Mera's movements did exactly that, they blended into his dreams, for a time. Then there were puffs of air, and rubbing and someone talking...
Roarke slowly opened his eyes without half a clue of where he was or what was going on. At a snails pace he lifted his head and looked around blinking repeatedly to clear his vision. It was getting dark, there were some trees around and there was a white mare cooing at him. He focused on her and for a second there were two of her. He tossed his head lightly to clear the sleepy fog from his head and looked again.
Mera.
It all came back to him in a rush and just like that he felt more awake. "Hmmm, I must still be dreaming." He murmured nuzzling at her neck. "This one's just more realistic than normal."

Her head tilted as she watched him rouse, and she offered a pleased little chirp as he lifted his head nuzzle at her. "Am I just a colorful figment of your imagination?" She chuckled, nosing at his chin. "I feel a little more alive then that." He was such a sleepy fellow, she couldn't help but smile in amusement at him.
It was cooler now, despite the sun still clinging along the horizon, and the mare drew a wing down to cover the pale flank of her side, head turning to peer up at the darkening sky that peeked above them through the branches of the trees. "It's getting chilly, is my rock going to lose all it's warmth when the sun disappears?" Slitted eyes rolled back to peg him with a sad look, pouting as she dropped her head back to rest her chin against his shoulder.
Comfortable as they were, they couldn't stay there indefinitely. Mera didn't know about the stallion, but she was getting a little peckish, and a cool drink of water sounded quite nice. Perhaps they could find a bite to eat, a stream, then find somewhere a little more secluded for the night

"Hmmm...must not be then." Roarke grinned at her before stifling a yawn. Waking up was always so difficult. Sleeping was just too nice. "I've never known a dream that thought it was alive." He pulled his head away from Mera, to avoid scratching her with his horns, before shaking his head more vigorously. The motion helped settle him more firmly into the land of the waking though there was something entirely backwards about the situation.
The sun was setting but they were waking up. He scrunched up his face and double checked the suns location. Yep, it was definitely setting. "No worries, love. I'll stay just as warm without then sun." Or at least he should. If he didn't that could only mean one thing: he was dying. Roarke didn't feel like dying today. "Now, what d'you say to a little river-side stroll at sundown?" " He asked nudging at her to stand. He was finding that he couldn't feel a portion of his hind leg. He needed to get moving about again. He wasn't entirely sure exactly how long he had been lying under that tree now but it was pretty safe to say 'too long.'
