Wandering seemed to be her most common pass-time, and it was that wandering that always seemed to get her into all sorts of situations. Sometimes pleasant conversations with strangers, sometimes snack-time with friends or family, but other times it was more sinister meetings. At this very moment, it was not a meeting of any sort, but it was most definitely a situation, and a rather unsettling one at that.

Having wandered from the well-trodden paths, Dulce Periculum was following her heart once more. Why go where everyone else has already been a thousand times before? She liked to explore and see new things, so leaving a designated path was not uncommon either. But this time she'd really done it. She'd made it into the deepest and darkest part of the swamp. Long past the mushy green marshes, and past the wading mangroves. The sun struggled to sneak in a single beam of light to the ground here, and where it did, bright flowers flourished but vied for the attention and nutrition. Everything outside of that warmth was damask and dark. The trees hunched, the vines crept and it felt like every shadow had it's own pair of eyes.

Dulce tread carefully, making sure to mind her step and tried to stay calm and quiet. She wasn't particularly scared, no. An adventurer explorer needed to be brave! But she was weary, and a little unsettled. She had no idea which way was an exit, and until she found out, she would do her best to avoid meeting any of the residents. And so, quietly, she picked her way through the tangled roots and around as much of the water as she could to avoid splashing about looking for anything familiar she may have already passed.

Deep within the swamp, Boi'Tatá stirred, awakened from his slumber. By the dim light that filtered through the entrance to his cave, he could tell that it was dusk. Within an hour or so the moon would be up and he would be at home with the shadows. While the sun might not be completely set, it was still far enough out of the sky that his sight would not be hindered by its blinding rays.

Drowsily, the stallion stood up and shook out his coat, sending up a great wave of dust. "NEFARIOUS!" He shouted out to his familiar.

"Y-yes master?" The otter replied as he waddled out from within the shadows.

"Get this cleaned up." The mutant snapped. "I expect to see this place spotless when I arrive home. I'm going to see about checking my traps tonight." He continued on.

"Of course. Anything the master wants." Replied Nefarious, as he hustled about the cave in earnest, trying to clean as quickly as he could.

"Good, I'll be back later." He turned and made his way out into the swamp. It had been a day or two since he had last checked his traps and he oh so dearly hoped he had a catch tonight. It'd been a while since he'd had much entertainment.

Sneaking this way, and nearly crawling that way, Dulce thought she was doing an excellent job of staying silent in this dark and creepy swamp... until it happened.

One second her foot was being placed in front of the other, the next... she whinnied and it was way up above her head leaving her staring at the canopy overhead... or underhoof if one was upside down like her. "What... who... why...?" Brow furrowed, the tan mare cautiously tried to stretch a limb, then another, and could finally come to the definite conclusion of finding herself in a net trap. Who would leave such a device lying about? And why would they want to catch something as big as a full-grown soquili? But she stopped her thoughts there. She really didn't want to think about what sort of monsters could be hunting for pleasure, or for that matter what sort of hunters hunting for food could be found out here. The swamp wasn't the easiest place to live, after all, so neither would be out of the question... And with that unpleasant thought Dulce began to try to escape.

Wriggling and tossing and turning resulted in nothing more than tiring the mare out. Limbs exhausted, she eventually stopped flailing and began counting the leaves overhead (or underhoof, if one was so inclined). "One, two, three...fifty-one, fifty-two... Where was I? Eighty-six? Yeah, I think so... Eighty-seven..." It wasn't long before the mare slipped into a nap, exposed as she was in that net-trap strung up in a tree.

An hour, maybe two passed before there was any stirring at all in the area, and as a reflex, her ears twitched and turned towards the intrusion, while the rest of the mare was still stuck in a sleepy stupor.

Boi-Tatá made his way through the swamp, stopping occasionally to check a trap here or there. So far he hadn't managed to catch more than a crocodile. Unfortunately there wasn't much that he could do with that. The stallion let out a bit of a sigh as he came across yet another empty trap. It was dark now and the sun had set some time ago. There were only a few traps left and Boi was growing irritated. If he didn't find something to play with, his night would be ruined. Hopeful, he pressed on, passing another empty trap and then another. Finally, heart heavy, he came to the last trap and was about to head for home, when he noticed the soquili inside of it.

Cursing his lack of carelessness, Boi immediately moved himself into the shadows. He knew that there wasn't any way for the mare to leave the net, but he was still cautious. Luckily for him, it appeared that she was still asleep. Good, he thought. Rather unfortunately though, he had no idea how to get her back home. He thought that perhaps he could drag her back in the net, but she was bound to be heavy and put up a good fight. There was no way he could manage that. Maybe he could trick her back? Perhaps if she thought that he was rescuing her? It could work, but his eyes might frighten her off anyway. Then again, who said that he had to take her down? Perhaps he could just leave her up there for now, until he figured out what to do with her anyway. Yes, that sounded best. Carefully, the stallion stepped closer to the net, studying the mare, then cleared his throat to see if she would wake.

Ears having already swiveled towards the stranger, they picked up the sound right away and stirred the rest of her into wake-up overdrive. Limbs flailed and eyes snapped wide open as she tried to turn over so that she could see who had come by and woken her up from her nice nap. What she saw was nothing she had expected to set eyes upon.

Black and green, a stallion emerged from the shadows of the swamp. He would be barely visible to her in the quickening dark had it not been for his many pairs of eyes. Their yellow glow captivated the mare, catching her attention and gluing her single mismatched pair to them. Soooo bright! How had she not seen this stranger coming from a mile.... oh right. She had been napping. And he had woken her up!

Managing to twist herself onto her side with her legs all tucked up against her thanks to the net, Dulce put on a slight scowl and addressed the stranger, now fully awake, if a little mesmerized by his eyes. "You woke me up! Well then, are you just going to stand there or are you going to let me down?" Straight to the point. Why dawdle when that was the thought on her mind? She could have napped for a bit longer, but if he had decided to wake her, then he should be willing to help her down. After all, why else would he have woken her?

Boi-Tatá found himself grinning rather mischievously at the mare who was strung up in his net. Of course she wanted him to let her down. But then, why on earth would he want to do that? Unless she had something to offer him, perhaps he would simply leave her up there. It wasn't like getting her down would prove useful to him otherwise.

The mutated stallion studied the mare for a few moments. Debating on exactly what he would say to her. Or should he just stay quiet? He supposed that it was indeed an option, but it seemed to be a rather silly one. Why bother denying the truth? No, he would be straight forward with her. "Now why on earth would you expect me to do that?" He asked her curiously. "If I've gone to all the trouble to catch you, it seems rather silly for me to just let you go. No, I like you better up there. Unless you have something to offer me in return?" He continued on quite seriously.

Dulce followed his gaze with her own, or at least as best as she could what-with the indecision of which eyes to follow specifically. Not to mention, she was never really sure if his eyes were looking at something new or not for his lack of visible pupils. He was really interesting though, and were she not strung up in his dastardly net she would probably have spent much more of her efforts into finding out more about him.

Wait... his net? A scowl began to form as she replied, "You put this net up? But why would you want to leave nets lying about for just anything to get caught in?" Tilting her head to one side to look at him better, her blue eye was dull but it was the one that now peeked out from under her mane to inspect him as she asked him her questions. She didn't know much about hunting, but didn't they usually put traps down more intentionally and precisely? This seemed pretty random to her.

"Offer? Well I ask you this: What use do I have to you up here?" Scowl still present, but it was the intrigue and curiosity that was speaking out and seriously having a conversation with this mutant. "Surely I could be of more use when not tangled up in my own limbs in this tree." How was that for a counter?

The green stallion grinned rather mischievously at the mare. She seemed a bit naive but she might just prove to be a good bit of fun. "Why not?" He asked her curiously. "I leave my nets up for all sorts of reasons. Yes they might be a bit randomly placed but they seem to work well enough don't you agree? They give me a great deal of entertainment. I can catch a snack, perhaps find something new to study, or simply encounter a bit of amusement." He continued on with a grin on his face, allowing her to see his many pointed teeth.

"As to what I plan on doing with you, well, I haven't quite decided on that just yet. You see, I could continue to leave you up there. You do look quite comfortable. I could also save you for a snack later, but then, I've never been a fan of soquili meat, just not quite to my taste. I could always take you back to my cave, keep you as a bit of entertainment or put you to work. Nefarious does enjoy having pretty mares for company. Really it just depends on how I feel. I haven't quite decided yet you see, so I may need some more convincing." He continued to grin at the mare as he spoke. Watching her intently, studying her every movement.

Glancing up and around her at the net that had indeed very well snatched her up, Dulce made a face at the stallion but didn't go so far as to admit aloud that his trap had indeed worked just as he had intended. She was well and caught, but that was beside the point! Huffing she flicked her mane out of her eyes as best as she could, but swiveled an ear over so that she could continue listening to what he had to say.

Very well, if he was going to take his time to decide, then she might as well get comfortable in her cosy nest, now shouldn't she? Keeping one eye on the stallion Dulce pushed out a bit with her legs and turned herself back over onto her back once more. Pressing her face up against the net, some of her hair wove it's way through the little squares as she looked back down at the mutant, upside-down as he was to her. The world was quite interesting from this point of view, so if he wanted to chat then she could do that, but she would do it comfortably and with enough to keep her interested.

Smirking, the coy mare simply replied, "You think I'm pretty, then?"

A little off topic, but why not try to catch him off-guard? How would he react? Would he get defensive? Would he blush, perhaps? Or maybe he would blunder and reveal more about him amid his response. Being such a curious mare, these questions came easily, and though not in her usual style, per se, she was trying to learn about this soquili as she was always trying to expand her knowledge.

Boi-Tatá was caught off guard by the mare's response. Had she even been listening to a word that he said? Well, he supposed that she must have been paying at least a bit of attention to have caught his slip up. For a brief moment the stallion debated on even answering her at all. Perhaps if he simply ignored the fact that she had spoken at all? Then again, it might be more fun to humor her? Why not?

Boi took a moment to deliberately look the mare over before responding. "I'm sorry, I may have spoken too soon." He replied nonchalantly. "You see, Nefarious calls anything female pretty. I'm sure that he would find you so as well. He's a bit dimwitted and doesn't quite understand the concept." The stallion continued on, showing no emotion except perhaps boredom. Though secretly, he was quite interested to see her reaction. Honestly, he hadn't even formed an opinion on her beauty yet. Then again, it was rather difficult for anyone to compete with the beauty of Pirata Noctis.

She smiled sweetly as he looked her over, not quite smug but close. Naturally she would have posed but with being in the net and all... it was a little beyond what she was able to do, so the smile would have to suffice. Her one eye closest to the stallion winked swiftly, almost too quick to notice, but it was the one that contrasted her hide, her blue eye.

His reaction was calm and collected after a moment of what she could only guess was surprise, but she had been expecting a much different reply. At first she tilted her head to see if he was being serious, and as far as she could tell, he was being rather sincere. Of course, it was hard to tell with any of the shady characters whether they were being manipulative or really spilling their own emotions. He was collected, so for all she knew, he could just be covering up his own mistake with cruelty and this snide round-about explanation, but that didn't change her reaction much, if any.

She righted herself a little, lifting her head as her brow descended into a glare. Her hair fell away from her dark muzzle and parted around her eye as if to accentuate the fact that with her curling lip and snarl her blue eye flared. The pupil shrank and her iris pulsed with a brighter blue, slowly covering more and more of the eye until it finally stayed, having made the entire blue eye brighter in the process.

With the expression changes, her ears flattened, her body grew tense and ready as she pulled her knees underneath her once more and she pulled her head up high (as much as one could, in a net), looking down at the stallion with a snide remark of her own.

"Then perhaps I should not have assumed you were one for the girls." There. How was that for throwing him off? The anger was obvious, and she was more apt to react quickly in this state, almost an entirely different and daring personality when her blue eye was dominant, or active.

Boi studied the mare for a moment. Trying to decide how to react. He supposed that she had meant to throw him off, to upset him. That was fine, he had expected so much. However, if that was the best that she could do, well, he was truly disappointed. "I find it sad that you hold yourself with such high regard. Do you truly think that just because I do not find you attractive means that I am gay? That is rather pathetic. I suppose I had expected no less." He smirked at the mare as he spoke. He hadn't exactly planned on letting the mare loose to begin with, but now. Well, she just had to go and open her mouth.

"Perhaps I ought to introduce you to Pirata Noctis." He started once more. "You might learn a thing or two about beauty from her. Perhaps about manners too. You certainly won't find her strung up in any nets." He chuckled.

Anger had grabbed a firm hold on her, and in his next response all it did was inflate. Her heartbeat rose and her nostrils flared, and that little voice that should be present inside of her head... well... it didn't prove to be much help. At that very moment instead of telling her to calm down and leave him be, it was actually egging her on, throwing more on the fire of her anger.

Lashing out verbally, and once more trying to stretch the net as if that would help her get loose, Dulce reacted without thinking. "Of course not! There are other options... or the option of nothing at all! How am I supposed to know? You just live out here in the dark swamp, and set traps to capture strangers! And what do manners have to do with getting caught up in your stupid net?" Brow furrowing she latched onto a detail she had almost skipped over entirely. "And who is Pirata Noctis?" Glancing around the area real quick, she didn't see any dashing beauty anywhere.

Obviously lashing out would not get her any further, but she was far from thinking clearly at the moment. All she wanted to do was get out of this stupid net and bite the stupid mutant below for insulting her as he did. The little voice in her head wasn't helping at all either, egging her on and making her want to say all sorts of nasty things that she didn't really mean, thankfully she did restrain herself and stopped to huff in her discomfort, not really expecting any more reply from the stallion.

The stallion chuckled silently to himself as he watched the mare's anger grow. Oh how fun this was! It had been such a long time since he'd had any new playthings and this one was proving to be particularly interesting. "Be glad that you have not yet met her." He told the mare seriously. "She is far less forgiving than I. I do suppose I could tell you a bit about her though. She has eyes like mine and she is particularly fond of her spiders. I still think that she prefers them over me, and I'm probably right. She also has an odd habit of collecting Cacti. I suppose you could say I love her, though that might be stretching it a bit far. I certainly do feel attracted to her and she is the mother of my children. You know, if you had better manners you might make a decent mother some day too. Though it looks like you might be a lost cause..." He trailed off, hoping to anger her further.

"I suppose you ought to start looking into these 'other options' soon my dear." The mutant continued on, quite enjoying himself. "You see, while there are those who enjoy spunk, you seem to have a bit of an issue with that temper of yours. If you don't get it under check soon, you'll have a hard time finding a decent mate. Although I do suppose it wouldn't be impossible for you but I do feel sorry for the fellow who ends up with you." Boi chuckled once more. Why couldn't all of his play things be this entertaining? The stallion stood back in silence for a few moments, anxiously awaiting the results of his latest insults.
