AMITYVILLE ACADEMY ENROLLMENT FORMName: Li Cheng Wu / Cody Li Nicknames: Derp-shi ( should any find it fitting to bestow this name on him ) Gender: Male Age: Sixteen ( age of death )
Faction/Race Undead ( Jiang-shi )
Personality: The first and foremost thing people will notice about Cody is that he is very talkative. Loud ( indoor voice, what's that? ) and in-your-face, he can be an overbearing presence when first meeting a new face, as he has no qualms about getting himself in another's personal space and introducing himself. He can get overconfident in himself and arrogant at his worst moments. Thankfully he's also pretty friendly, throwing out the word "dude" and "broski" left and right. He would gladly go out on a limb for those he likes. Need a tour? He'll gladly show you around! Want to bum school notes? Sure thing ( if he remembered to take any )! Just need an open ear? He'll lend both of his ( however, if he remembers the conversation later is something up to debate )!
He's also very physical, since he is not very good at expressing himself with words and would rather rely on a playful punch to the arm or a hard slap on the back. Cody doesn't really discriminate against boils and ghouls in doing this, either, so ladies, it's best to go in prepared. Rough housing is a favorite activity of his, and generally something he would do with those he is most comfortable with. Sure, his penchant towards being physical and acting out very loudly may seem childish, but he is also very sincere. If he doesn't like you, he will have no issue showing you, and will not disguise his dislike for you in the least. He also has no problem throwing the gauntlet and meeting people out behind the greenhouse for a little "one on one". If his pride is on the line, or that of a friend's, then a challenge he will happily accept.
It is also best not to dress up words or talk metaphorically, as it would probably go over the poor boil's head. Sarcasm and hidden barbs might as well be a second language to him. He's not the sharpest needle in the sewing kit ( which he has one, and you'd better not be laughing at him! ), but he tries his best to keep up with what people are saying and in his studies. Repeating himself is something that happens quite often, and he has a penchant for making obvious statements, so his conversations go in circles at times. He keeps a notepad and pencil handy to avoid this since most information goes through him like a sieve, and has no shame in consulting his notes should he need to remember something. There are special pages tabbed with names in order to keep things organized, although they're written in a very messy English or ( if he really wants to keep something to himself ) Mandarin Chinese. Likewise, ghouls are also a foreign language to him. If he is being flirted with or secretly insulted, he likely won't pick up on it.
Because he loves staying active and is a bit of a brawler, Cody is always interested in learning new fighting techniques. Personally, he practices capoeira ( something one of his brothers got him into ), which is something he likes to boast about being pretty good at. This has also given him a taste for music, and he generally gravitates towards anything with a good beat. He is eager to try other sports, such as bruteball, maceball, or anything, really! Contact sports are his thing, and if his clothes get destroyed or he comes home muddy, then all the better! Although, on the opposite end of the spectrum, he does have a secret, rather girly talent - sewing. Coming from a home full of scrappy jiang-shi brothers, he had to learn how to sew up his own hurts when his dao-shi couldn't get to him in time. Despite that, he looks up to his brothers and his dao-shi master greatly, singing their praises or bragging about them at the drop of a hat.
Why are they enrolled in Amityville Academy? Cody finds himself lacking direction and discipline. Or rather, his dao-shi master found him lacking discipline in a way he couldn't learn from his own brothers. So he sent his youngest "son" to Amityville in hopes that they could beat some sense into him. As for Cody, he's eager to see what Amityville holds for someone like him - his main interest is in the sports though, rather than studies.
Brief History: During his life, Cheng Wu was a farmer's son, and the only child of the older couple. He was a dutiful son who loved his parents and wanted to serve them as best as he could, and happily helped with the farm labor. However, he was also a little on the reckless side, and was one day goaded by his friends in the village - leap-frogging from one protruding rock by the river to another. Cheng Wu was confident in himself and his own strength, but it was a confidence in vain as his foot slipped upon landing on the other side and he went tumbling down between the v-shaped rocks, breaking his neck on the way down. The village boys were chided for what they had inspired him to do, and his elderly parents were devastated. It was with heavy hearts that they buried him in the Li family plot and awaited when they would soon join their only child.
It was here, several years down the line, that a wandering dao-shi named Jun Bae found the Li family plot, and was delighted at one of the corpses that lay inside - such a strapping young man, without too much damage ( that wasn't fixable, anyway )! The good reaper knew that he would prove a fine addition to his already sprawling "family" of jiang-shi back in the world of Halloween, so he took the befuddled lad with him. Thankfully, Cheng Wu adapted fairly quickly, his life a vague blur until it disappeared entirely. His dao-shi played the part of father, tending to broken bones, missing arms, and refereeing fights rather easily, and young Cheng Wu looked up to him immensely. His six elder brothers he likewise idolized, but they were more eager to roughhouse and carouse - not that he had a problem with it. Jun Bae was the one he addressed with his big concerns: "Why so many jiang-shi in our family?", "How come everybody else's names sounds so different from mine?", and "Help me learn common better!" The dao-shi would only give him a vague smile and answer each patiently: "Because we're stronger together than we are alone," "Oh, so you don't like Cheng Wu? Well how about the name Cody instead, if you wish to sound more 'normal'?", and "If that is what you wish."
The boil was still unsatisfied, and when the roughhousing became a little rougher than should have been expected, his dao-shi decided to take matters into his own hands. Perhaps his old alma mater, Amityville, might do Cody some good..
Natural Ability: Maneuverability - Jiang-shi boast superior hand-to-hand combat abilities. They also are able to jump and glide to and from uncanny heights, almost as if flying.
FEAR: Essence Drain - Jiang-shi are known not only to drain blood but life essence as well. In Cody's case, this comes in the form of sapping his opponent's energy. He draws out their energy from the mouth to weaken his opponent and use that energy to heal his own hurts. However energy draining takes immense concentration, and for one as easily goaded as Cheng Wu, this is not an easy task. At first year level, he can manage to make an opponent feel a little woozy for a few minutes. As he progresses, he may even advance enough to making them fall in a clean faint. Until he can better his concentration, who knows?
Physical Description:
Eye Colour: Bronzed yellow irises with blackened sclera, framed by dark purplish rings around the eyes. Both eyes are normally wide open and slightly cross-eyed. Hair Colour/Style: Originally a sleek black color when he was alive, his hair has lost some of its luster and now looks dulled, with a sheen of green throughout ( from mold ). Style-wise, both the bangs and the back are slightly flared and messy, going any which way it wants. He wears his hair somewhat shaggy, at about chin-length. Skin Colour: A pale greenish color, marred in places by dark scars and bruises, especially around the wrists and neck. Thanks to the years of decay, it has a fuzzy quality to it from mold. Clothing Style/Colours: Anything that captures the essence of the Qing dynasty uniforms ( i.e. traditional jiang-shi wear ) with a very modern flair! Dusky colors and bright reds are fine! Anything with long sleeves and a little more tightly fitted on top, with baggy cargo pants on the bottom. He's an avid hat fan and does not go anywhere without one on, since it keeps the ju-fu talisman in place. He's also known to enjoy sunglasses.. especially those stunner shades that look terrible on most people, but he thinks they're rad. Extra: Cody is fairly short, settling somewhere in the 5'5" - 5'7" range, and is long in both arms and legs. He has a nice, athletic build from his short tenure during life as a farmer's son. The years of being dead have elongated his limbs even moreso, his arms in particular, which now hang far below his knees. His hands also have grown larger and the fingers are long. His fingers are tipped with especially long, blackened fingernails that he has trouble maintaining ( thanks to his penchant for roughhousing ). Thick black stitches are visible around certain portions of his body, most notably cutting across his face and the bridge of his nose, which were tended to by his dao-shi after one too many sparring matches gone awry with his brothers. Also ( since I don't know where else to stick this ) he has some pretty thick eyebrows - they don't connect, luckily, but they're pretty thick. References: None at the moment!
Possible Emblem Ideas: Perhaps the ju-fu talisman? I am open to suggestions!
