She was wandering the corridors of the dorm, a thoughtful look on her face as she hummed to herself; ever since that last mission where they were sent to some part of the Sahara desert to move bodies, she had been a little more aware of the fact that in this line of work, there was a huge risk of being fired - fired meaning killed while on duty.
Of the three victims, she had only known one of them - the one named 'Benjamin', who had introduced himself as 'Ben'... And she didn't know him personally either. He was just nice enough to meet and greet them, answer some of their questions regarding being a hunter... The term 'nice guys finish last' did not seem to apply here at all; Ben was a nice guy and he was 'finished' first.
The two great sadists, however, were still alive.
She sighed, pushing her bangs back before letting it fall back over her eyes, she remembered the last words of the monster named "Red", and she had to wonder how those three hunters had lost their lives... Her lips were pressed into a thin line as she walked into the cafeteria; it was relatively empty, the scent of freshly baked cookies wafting through the kitchen door. It would be tempting if she hadn't already tried those cookies for herself.

Jude was already in the cafeteria staring into his cup of coffee as if an answer would leap out at his face from within it's contents while his hands turned the warm cup in about with the palms of his hand, that or he was just brooding over nothing. He hummed a little to himself as he stared into the dark contents.
Plain black coffee with two sugars and it felt like sacrilege if he added anything else or even considered it.
He hummed a bit more a small senseless tune that really fit to nothing new or old. At the moment Jude hadn't noticed Ariane who had arrived a few moments ago.

'What guy?'
Sometimes she wondered how Kintama could be more observant then her; after all, she was sure that they shared the same pair of eyes and ears... Yet he seemed to pick up more. Perhaps it was because he hadn't been able to enjoy having senses for such a long time that he was excited about them? Either way, Ariane made her way over to Jude, making sure to be as inconspicuous as possible.
Quietly, she then took a seat beside his, eyeing him for a moment, wondering what could be on his mind. Propping her elbows up on the table, she rested her chin on her interlinked fingers before turning her head slightly to simply look at the male.

He'd been intently staring at his coffee for a moment or two longer before he glanced up at Ariane then looked back down at his coffee only to glance up at her again and startle a bit. Shifting a bit in his seat he flushed slightly and returned his gaze back to his coffee, "Do you always sneak up on people like that?"
Technically she didn't sneak up on him.
Yom seemed amused at his discomfort at having the young woman nearby but at the moment she said nothing on it.

"No, I like to think not," She retorted, chuckling in amusement at his reaction and expression before leaning against the back of her seat. She was stuck between smiling and smirking as she gently poked him on his arm, "Long time no see, Judy~ Penny for your thoughts?"

Jude snorted at her response and lightly batted at her hand as she poked his arm, "Yeah, whatever," he murmured quietly more toward her inclination to use his 'nickname'. "I have been around Ari-berry. I am sure you know where my room is."
Was he insinuating that she was a creepy stalker? Why yes he probably was.
He shifted his shoulders, "Just thinking about everything that's happened lately nothing special."

"Oh? Well, maybe you could show me to your room later, Judy, just to be sure that I got the right room," Her grin widened as she scooted closer to him, staring into his cup of coffee before looking up at him. She raised an eyebrow at his answer and then leaned away, studying his face as she paused, "Such as? Many things had happened lately."

"Oh yeah, I'll get right on that right after my coffee," he said in a tone that said that he was going to do everything but show her where his room is if she still didn't know then he will let her wallow about in sweet, sweet ignorance. He tensed up slightly when she scooted closer to him and then relaxed when she leaned away.
He turned his cup in his hand once or twice before he answered, "That mission where we had to go through the house and stuff, that large monster...It was really amazing you know? Amazing and terrifying..."

"Nice to see you as happy as ever," She laughed, poking his arm again, although she was still leaning away, against the back of her chair, "Ah, yes, the house... That was our first real mission, wasn't it? Quite an eye opener, too."
She thought back to their most recent mission, closing her eyes as she tilted her head up so that she was facing the ceiling, "That last mission with that monster... Three hunters found dead... Terrifying sums it up pretty well."

"Bucket of sunshine," Jude agreed as he reached and swatted lightly at her hand, "and you're as touchy as ever."
He raised an eyebrow at this next tidbit of information, "More monsters? I wasn't at the latest mission I am afraid so, yeah. I was a bit late to the show."
A lot late.

"Touchy? Oh, you don't know the full meaning of that word," She grinned, wriggling her eyebrows before bursting into laughter, still poking Jude on his arm; he was always such a joy to tease and poke fun at.
"Oh?" The poking stopped as she withdrew her hand, "Never thought of you as the type to miss a mission... Well, we were sent to the Sahara desert. There were bodies piled up together so much that it was like waddling through a sea of corpses." She grimaced at the memory, "Anyway, this monster emerged from among the bodies. Upon defeat, it split open to reveal the dismembered bodies of three hunters... One of which was Ben. The death hunter who spoke to us that one time?"
It was hard to believe that he was gone for real now - that someone she had briefly spoken to just a while ago had died while on a mission...

Jude paused and glanced over at Ariane before he promptly wiggled a bit away from her after the last poke at least wiggled as far as his seat would allow.
He listened with interest as she explained the mission giving a small shrug at her comment about having missed it, "I guess I was more tired than I thought from the other one?" Jude wasn't really the type to ignore his duties on purpose much less avoid going on missions. It just happened that he missed this one.
"..Ben died? Cripes..I wanted to try and ask him some questions and stuff," he sighed a bit. "He seemed like a nice guy, too..."

Ariane pulled her chair closer to Jude when he started to wiggle away, her grin widening.
"Sure you were," She chuckled, although her tone suggested that she wasn't really blaming Jude, just teasing him; she was tired too. Even more so now, after witnessing such a gruesome sight. She nodded, "He did... We arrived too late. He was already gone - in the monster - by the time we got there."
She paused, sighing before giving a shrug, "He was... For once, someone approachable in this faction and he had to go so early... Just shows how unpredictable being a hunter can be."

His expression darkened briefly at her teasing words. Though she meant it as teasing he did indeed take it as blame but he said nothing. Jude nodded slightly, "That's a shame...Doubt I could have been any help even if I was there I guess."
There was no use in worrying about it and pondering alternate scenarios. It was done. People were dead. They all had to move on.
"...You been doing alright?" He asked quietly showing actual concern for Ariane, which probably showed that he cared more about her than it appeared despite his acting as if she was a thorn in his side.

"I didn't do very well, myself," She admitted with an annoyed sigh, flopping back against the back of her chair before shrugging. His question earned an eyebrow raise from her, and she bit her own tongue, the urge to reply in a sarcastic or teasing manner strong; after all, it's not like she was Jude's favorite person in the world.
"Well, I'm still alive," She laughed, stretching out her legs to their full length under the table. She couldn't resist adding though, "Unluckily for you."
