Calder was having problems. Serious, personal problems. Never had it been this bad before, but it seemed with growing up and growing a tad taller, a hard a bit darker, his other natural abilities were going into full swing. He had already had the talk with his parents about changes and all that stuff he'd rather not deal with recalling. But this, this was just embarrassing!!!!
It was simple really. He went out. Went for a walk, and was cutting through the woods and wanted to see about maybe taking a swim or seeing Barth, but his mind was a mess of thoughts and emotions and he was was still recovering. That's when he made the unwise choice of resting against a tree for a moment.
And that's when things went downhill. Just as he was about to walk off, he was tugged back. Turning, he looked at the palm resting against the tree and tugged, only to have it not move an inch. "Oh no. Nonononono. Not now. Oh come on, are you serious?" He stepped away and started to lean, but his palm was glued. No. Not glued. His suction ability had kicked in and it decided that it in no way wanted to let go of this tree. His skin gripped in, holding to the bark tightly.
Leaning down, he tried to tug on his arm only to feel it strain and pull. Panting, he stood up and leaned his head against the tree. It was bad enough when his hands got stuck to his books or a piece of paper would stick to his elbow back in his room, but a flippin tree?!!!

Not many students enjoyed walking around the woods, with all that was going on lately. Riley, however, was one of the few that found she enjoyed it more. She was almost hoping to come across a hunter, and exact some revenge on them.
Unfortunately, there were no hunters in the forest this night. Only kelpie.
She would have preferred the hunters.
Calder was doing.. something.. inappropriate with a tree. Riley considered walking away and leaving him to his business, but the urse to catch him in the act of doing something embarrassing was too strong within her. She had to come say hello to her new friend.
Oh, Caaalder. Riley's voice sounded sweet, and almost musical. What did that tree ever do to you?

The world hated Calder. It was clear in this very moment. He had the worst luck. It was worse that Riley was actually stealthy in the woods and he hadn't heard her, for if he had, he would have thought there were wolves out. Then when he heard her voice, he almost wished for wolves instead.
In his mind, he could only think of one thing. Why now?
While Riley thought he was doing something naughty with a tree, Calder did not help her ideas by turning beat red and turning about, back pressed to the tree with his suctioned hand behind him. "Nothing." He squeaked, looking at her. "I was just resting. Ya know. Tired. All this stress" He tried to yawn to play the act but only managed to raise up one arm and then noticed that it didn't look convincing with one hand and shot it back behind him.
"So I'm going to rest. Here." He then looked around and back at her. "So....just go." His heart was pounding in his chest as he watched her with a Deer-In-The-Headlights expression. He still tried to tug his hand free, but it seemed even more cemented to the tree now. WHY?!!!

Calder wanted her to go.
Clearly, that meant she had to stay.
She strode over and stood directly in front of him, her hands clasped behind her as she took him in. You look like you're hiding something. Tell me what it is? You know I love secrets.

He swallowed. "I'm not hiding anything. I'm just standing here. Resting. Doing nothing. Just me and this here tree. Being boring. Now.....just...shoo." He stayed where he was, unmoving, eyes wide as he regarded her. His mind, not talking to her, kept repeating the same thing. Go away. Go away. Go away. Go away. Please go away.

Riley folded her arms in front of her, cocking her head at him slightly. I don't know why you think that telling me to go is actually going to achieve that end goal. I am too curious about what you are up to, and therefore you should just give in and tell me the truth, before I try to tickle it out of you.
As if making good on her threat, she took a step forward, put her hands on his sides, and tickled gently.
Caaalder. Tell Riley what you're uuuupp to.

His ears jerked up in alarm. "Don't tickle me." He wish he could have scooted away from her and instead tugged on his hand with no results. He was trapped between a ghoul and a tree. For another other boil, this would be heaven, but Calder way on the other side of that place that started with an 'h'. "Rileyyy, just go away!" He whined. Couldn't she just be normal and ignore him?!!!

Riley chuckled as he squirmed, but kept his ground, and she rolled her eyes as she grabbed his arm and tried to tug him away from the tree.
All right, enough. If you're not going to tell me, I'm going to see for myself-
She had failed to actually tug him away, and so she tried tugging again, and again. She bent around to look at the tree, and Calder's hand on it, before her eyes narrowed darkly.
Calder. She murmured with a low tone. Are you stuck to the tree?

Calder tried to back up when she went to grab his arm, but there was no where to go. "Wait! Don't - Just - Will you - Cut it out!" But it was no use. The moment she pulled back and he felt his arm resist as he stood out at arm's length and no further from the tree, he knew the jig was up. Flushing again, he watched as she pulled and willed with every fiber of his being that things would just work out and he'd tug free from the tree and then could just brush this all off and say Riley was just being weird. However, as his luck always seemed to go, he was still stuck to a tree.
And now Riley knew.
And yet she still had to ask.
Not looking at her, he mumbled back. "..maybe."

Riley was torn between laughing like mad, and seriously trying to help Calder out. She settled for a mix of the two, where she took a moment to laugh in her head, before sobering up and patting Calder on the shoulder.
You will cease being stubborn, and let me assist you. How can I help you get out of this? Do you need me to cut down the tree, or is there any way we can unstick you?

He huffed and turned about, placing his hand on his other arm and leaning back, trying to pull it without dislocating his shoulder. "If I KNEW how to fix this, I would already be unstuck. Even if you tore down the tree, I'd still have a lump of wood in my hands." He really, really, REALLY didn't want to show this little mess in front of Riley. It was embarrassing enough not to handle your own abilities, but to show one like this was just mortifying. "I just...need to pull I guess." And think really hard on letting himself go. "It's just being a bit weird right now." Well, for the past week or so. It was occasional before, but now it was just getting more frequent. Maybe he should start wearing gloves?

All right. Pulling it is, then. Two will be better at this than one, after all.
Riley wrapped her arms around the kelpie, secured both of her hands on his arm, and stretched back as far as she can go. Count down, and I will pull when you say go. All right?

Having Riley's arms around him was one of the most stressful things he had encountered today. Usually because of the long association that Riley touching him usually meant in a painful, I'm-going-to-strangle-you-to-death sorta way, and he was nothing but nervous during her awkward embrace.
Still, he was stuck, she knew it, and she was helping. He just had to remind himself that but equine instinct told him anything behind him was a bad thing. He took a breath. "Okay."
Digging his hooves in, he started to count. "Three......Two......One......GO!"

Riley's tentacles had all wound around Calder's hand, and it was with no gentleness that she managed to pull using all the force available to her when he said go. If his hand ripped, well, at least he would be free of the tree. All that really mattered was getting him off-
Suddenly with a sickening squelching sound, Riley vaulted backwards, with Calder slamming into her. Her tentacles unraveled, but her hands wrapped around him from sheer instinct of safety. When she was done slamming into the ground, however, she let him go, and tried to shimmy away and to his side.
Let me see your hand, she murmured, reaching out to grab his offending hand with her own. She clutched it, and tried to turn it around, but it refused to budge.
Calder, stop that. Let me see. You could be hurt.

Calder was a bit more concerned for his hands and his arms well-being than Riley was. It wasn't like he was an undead that could pop off his arm and just stick it back on, or find a replacement if pieces got torn or shredded. If that was the case, he would have just undid the stitching on his hand and walked off. This was not the case, and when they tugged together, he could feel the muscles pull in his arm and he wondered if the skin of his hand would just rip off, leaving his print right there on the tree.
It was not a nice thought. He needed that hand...for things. Like petting Barth's horn.
When he felt his suction grip be forced free, he smiled. "It's wor-" And then they flew back at he popped off the tree and landed into Riley. Well, at least Riley had a lot of cushion up front, but that didn't mean he was happy to slam into her.
Groaning, he slowly got up, rubbing his head. "Are you okay?" He managed, but she was already getting up to to inspect his hand. Well, try to.
"Oh no..."
He shook his hand and while it wasn't bleeding from the creases between their pressed hands, his ears did drop back. "Riley....................if I knew how to let go, I would be." Just like the tree, this was not him willingly wanting to be stuck. He shook his hand again, which in turn shook her hand.
He looked back at her in a way that said This-really-isn't-me-doing-this-on-purpose. "Uh......" He looked around and back at their hands. He'd suggest pulling on his hand, but he felt like he just dislocated something. His arm needed a break!
