And the stadium is set...
ROCK FIELD
Tremors ripple forth from center-field as the basic floor shifts to a rock and dirt field. Rock towers emerge forth from the ground to offer a place of escape or an advantageous attack position. The breeze from the stadium air conditioners stirs the loose sand on the field, creating a mini sandstorm that reduces visibility.
+25 HP attack boost to ROCK TYPE MOVES.
-25HP to FIRE TYPE MOVES.

Noah walked into the Gym Leader stadium, his heart thudding in his chest. Was this what other trainers felt when they entered a gym stadium? Or was it just him? He wasn't a battler. He could, of course, and having Reno meant sometimes he had to, but he didn't do it nearly enough to feel comfortable in its shoes. He climbed onto his platform, swallowing as he watched the stadium settle into the field they'd be using.
Rocks. Great. Well, Ninetails was Vulpix's evolution, so at least they were both at a disadvantage. He picked up Reno's pokeball and threw it, releasing the vulpix onto the stadium. She shook herself, and looked around, eying the rocks with trepidation. Meh. No advantage, here. She'd make due.

Luna took her place on her platform as well. Noticing Noah's tenseness, she sent him a friendly wave. "No worries, no worries, this is just a friendly battle! Not a real gym battle or anything," she assured. Of course, friendly battles tended to get a bit intense with her according to her friends, but there really was nothing at stake which made these battles much more enjoyable than real gym battles.
Nine calmly walked into the field and promptly sat down, fixing her red eyes onto Reno.

"I've been waiting a long time to try this move out though," Luna commented offhandedly as she looked at Reno. This was the perfect match to abuse that move. "Nine, Imprison!"
Nine's eyes met Reno's and her own turned red. It didn't seem to have any physical effect, but there was an invisible subconscious one.

Noah blinked a little, confused. What attack? Imprison? He watched, waiting with anticipation, but... it didn't seem to have an effect. Was it a psychic move?
Reno stared at Nine, momentarily captivated as her eyes flashed. She shook it off after a minute, frowning, and jerked when Noah yelled out. "You okay, Ren?!"
Reno glanced back, almost glowering at him for trying to distract her, and tensed all over as the next command was called out. "Alright, alright. Reno, headbutt!" Reno would've grinned if she could, and ran head on for Nine, her head down slightly in anticipation for the strike.

Busy finishing up her attack, Nine wasn't quite ready to block teh headbutt and was pushed backwards by the smaller ball of fur.
"Heh, pretty good!" Luna commented, admiring Reno's enthusiasm. "Don't let that vulpix show you up though Nine, Dig!"
As soon as Luna had spoken the command, Nine had disappeared into a ground, leaving only a hole. Before the other team could even gwak at how a ninetales could dig that incredibly fast, the ground under Reno rumbled as Nine emerged to attack.

Noah grinned at the strike, watching Reno circle back quickly to prepare herself for the next round. He had to hand it to her, Reno knew what she was doing. "She's been itching for a good fight." He called to Luna, amused.
Reno watched, blinking as the Ninetails suddenly dug its way underground. She watched the ground, trying to anticipate the attack, but she barely looked down before Nine was up. She went back as the blow struck, and stumbled to right herself quickly, shaking her head and growling a little.
Noah recognized that growl, and bit back the smirk. That was her annoyed snarl; the one that usually meant Noah needed to stop brushing her right now if he wanted to keep a finger.
"Time for some payback, Reno!"
The vulpix barked her agreement, and leapt at Nine to strike her.

Luna nodded at Noah's statemnt that Reno was rearing for a fight. "Nine's been itching for one too - she'll never admit it though," she added with a bit of a chuckle on that last part. Her Ninetales was a bit too proud at times to admit her battlelust.
Reno's smaller body let the vulpix launch at the Ninetales a bit quicker than Nine was able to duck below the ground. Still, the Ninetales disappeared once more nonetheless despite the new wound. This time, she stayed there for a bit longer, playing out the suspense.
And then she reemerged, this time behind Reno with paws outstretched to attack.

"Be ready, Reno!" Noah called as the Ninetails disappeared into the ground again. This time, Reno looked, watching and sniffing, ears twitching. Her attention paid off (though to be fair, it was more 'luck' than 'attention'...) and Reno leapt out of the way, dodging the strike.
Noah grinned. That was his girl. "Quick Attack!"
Reno rounded from her dodge, and ran at Nine quickly, trying to strike before she had a chance to disappear under ground again.
