Oki dashed through the stadium, ignoring the shouts from his trainer, Anise, who was trying to call him back. She might not like battling much, but it had been too long since he'd had a good battle. When he heard there was some sort of battling event here, it sounded like a good chance for him to get one. Now the battlefield was just up ahead. Once he got there, she couldn't stop him, and she was way behind him.
As he passed through a patch of shadow, he quickly used his Illusion ability to disguise his appearance, so that it seemed as if a Delcatty ran into the field moments later. He trotted out into the middle of the field and waited for his trainer, and his opponent, to arrive.
A few moments later Anise ran into the stadium, starting to get short of breath from the unexpected, and extremely fast, run. What had possessed him to just run in here like that. "Oki, stop, let's just..." then she saw it was too late, and he was already on the field, where no doubt people were watching. She briefly wondered if she could get him out anyway. Maybe have her other pokemon Sing him to sleep and carry him away? But somehow that seemed like a bad idea. With a sigh she gave up and climbed onto the raised platform designed for a trainer. "Oki, I trust you to battle as you see fit," she called to her pokemon. Because I certainly have no idea what to tell you to do, she thought to herself.
Oki only flicked an ear back at her in acknowledgement. Of course he knew how to battle. He understood that to mean he would have no guidance from her, as most trained pokemon did. But he needed no guidance, so this arrangement sounded just fine to him.

If parallel worlds existed, and did so on the same plane... well, Genesis and her Pokémon, Leto, could have been top candidates for Anise and her eager Zorua, Oki.
Leto, having unintentionally entered a fight earlier, found the experience thrilling. She was eager for another battle, but Genesis had other plans in mind. And so, without warning, she had darted back into the stadium just when her trainer had intended to leave, and entered a field another Pokémon had claimed.
Genesis had followed, worried that the rat would do something ridiculous, like, say, blow everything up, and Genesis would be blamed for it. Other than that, she held little care for the rat, as she had long proved herself more trouble than she was worth. Despite that, she couldn't bring herself to let the Pokémon go. It had been her choice to throw the Poké Ball, and she would take responsibility for it, no matter what form of hair-pulling experience was thrown at her next.
"You-- you're on your own," she gasped out between pants when she finally caught up to the quick Rattata, wiping sweat from her brow and sitting down for a break on the platform intended for trainers.
That was more than fine for Leto. She was still getting used to being told what attacks to use, anywho.
"<<Hey!>>" she called towards her opponent, a Delcatty. "<<Ready when you are!>>"

Oki just looked silently at his opponent, tilting his head and blinking his eyes slowly as if considering the Ratatta. Then he yawned and started kneading his claws into the ground, looking as casual as possible. In truth he was using the movement to disguise his use of Hone Claws, since he liked to think that boosting his abilities early would give him an edge in a battle.
Anise was baffled as to what her pokemon was doing. She'd recognized that Oki has disguised himself, since he'd done that before, but she had no idea why he wasn't attacking. And furthermore, he was making the motion that Felix did when he was happy. It made no sense to her, but she let her pokemon be. Surely he knew what he was doing. Hopefully.

Genesis leaned back for a breather, her attention now more on the sky than the ensuing battle. If she had looked, though, she might have noticed something familiar...
Leto twitched her head curiously at the other. He didn't seem to be attacking, so she whipped her tail about in a preparatory Tail Whip before the actual biting and punching and clawing began.

Oki shivered slightly as the Tail Whip took effect. Drat, that may have undone his last attack. Time for something different, then. He reared back and took a deep breath, then spat a glob of sticky, tar-like poison. Leto screeched in response to the attack, the poison paining the wound Oki's bite had caused. Chattering her teeth to express her disapproval, she sprinted towards the other, her paw glowing red to deliver a Rock Smash.

As soon as the rat's paw crashed into Oki, the illusion fell apart and revealed the Zorua hiding within. Immediately after the attack hit, he snarled and lashed out in retaliation, attempting to Counter the damage.

((Thanks! x3 And oh man, it's a good thing you did. I didn't even know Counter was a fighting type move and I got it mixed up with "Return" up until now. xD))
The sudden transformation turned Leto's fur on end. She had had a squabble with a Zorua earlier, and it had not turned to her favor.
She squealed with both pain and surprise when the Counter hit, her small size allowing her to be thrown quite a distance. However, it was the same size that allowed her such high speed, and she ran towards the Zorua with renewed vigor, another Rock Smash at the ready.

Oki though to himself that casting an Illusion of a pokemon with the same weakness as himself was probably not the best idea. He would have to think harder on what to look like in the future. But for now, there was a battle at attend do. The rat used the same attack as last time, and Oki decided to do the same, lashing out for another Counter.

Leto was hit, and was soon sent sprawling, her paws clutching at the earth to slow down her speed. Without losing too much momentum, she went in an arc towards the Zorua, using Rock Smash once more.

This time when the rat smashed into him, Oki was driven back a couple of steps. When he stumbled to a stop, he blurred into shadow and dashed forward, suddenly appearing next to the rat to deliver a Faint Attack.

((I don't think STAB applies here? At the very least, I've never seen it mentioned or used anywhere, but I'll post in the JUDGE thread to make sure.
Edit: Herp, don't think it'll matter now. xDa But for future reference, FFN confirmed there's no STABbing in the back.))
Leto felt a small trill of success when her hit landed, but before she could continue, the Zorua disappeared. She sat up, instantly alert, ears twitching, and in a moment, saw her opponent coming straight for her!
She took the attack as best as she could, crouching and grasping at the ground so that she wouldn't be thrown too far back before she retaliated with Rock Smash.
