D'mitri had just finished eating his spoils. He had been hunting in the early morning and was well rewarded for the trouble by a fat sow and her piglets. His tail flicked behind him a little as he stood from his feast trotting away toward the edge of the forest. He took a breath as the sun hit his frame. Stretching his massive wings, the large male took off toward a sprint before leaping into the air to catch a draft. Massive wings propelled him up and forward, legs trailing behind him a little, but slightly hugged to his frame. His green eyes gazed down toward the lands below him. His flight was leisure with a bit of stride, his tail flowing behind him for more style than anything else really.
D'mitri loved the feel of the wind against his body as he flew. His bangs were brushed from his face and it seemed as though there was a clarity that the skies gave him. The feel of the sun on his back also felt wonderful. It warmed him like no other feeling. Certainly better than the greetings and cold stares he would get from those who lived in the plains and other such areas. D'mitri tended to stay away from populations...it suited his lifestyle as well as his life better. Though sometimes he did yearn for at least a passing glance. Something to acknowledge that he was alive...that he was here...

Gabrielle streaches her wings out wide lifting her head high, with her eyes closed to feel the strong wind blow against her back as if nudding her to take to the skys, sharing the joy of soaring freedom it brings. She starts to run alittle with the wind behind her lifting her up with little effort of her own. She looks around her with a warm smile watching the people and animals from below her. Next thing she knows a huge dragon like Azrien is flying in the distance. How odd she thinks to herself. Dragon or Azrien? She flys closer to him when suddenly they both caught an updraft. She lets out a startled whiney before she could stop the reflex. Her checks turns a lovely rosy shade showing her embarasment. "Hello Sir." She says to him wondering if he would welcome her breaking the peacefulness up here.

The draco-azrein had noticed that there was something flying toward him after a brief moment. The sun was in his eyes so he had to get closer to figure out what it was. Strange that another creature that was bigger than a bird could take the skies. But then again, who was he to talk? The large male propelled himself forward with large wing gusts. Too large it seemed as the duo nearly crashed into each other. Her startled whinny almost distracted him from being able to control his wings. D'mitri let his frame drop for a moment before he snapped open his wings and twirled to shove himself back up into the skies. As heavy as he was, the dragon was able to maneuver well enough.
As he came forward, his green eyes took in the form of a mare. A gorgeous one at that. Jewelry and other such fan dangles adorned her frame. He hadn't really seen any other azrein with as much accessories as herself. It was another surprise that she was winged, and as small as they were, she was keeping afloat well enough. It was good to know that she seemed strong enough. Her voice gave her away, however, as she seemed sheepish and her face was turning another color. Strange. He didn't know of many who could make their face turn red like that. "Hello. It is good to see another sky rider." And in a sense he met that. He hadn't seen any others who could travel the skies on wings. It was nice for a change. "You all right? You made noise. Seemed scared." His choppy sentences were more of an upbringing than anything else, but D'mitri considered himself an okay communicator. It did the trick when he needed it obviously. And there was always brute force. That was something he was excellent at.

Gabrielle smooths her flight from the updraft so she would not accidently fly into the other Azrien, though he looked like a Dragon. An intresting blend but seemed perfect for him. Her eyes took in his large form. His teal-blue body that has wavey purple lines, make her think of thunder or waves in an ocean . His giant wings with three sharp talons, a small and cute horn on his snout. Then his gorgeous purple main and tail. Then last but not lest, his eyes the color of fresh spring grass. Her eyes did not want to leave his as if spellbound.
She smiles though did not take her eyes off his. "It is good to see another Azrien up here. I like that tittle 'sky rider' you used." She says with good cheer. "Sorry about the noise. I was not expecting the updraft, so it took me by surprise." She still feels embarsed for her reaction to the unexpected updraft. "I am heading over to my Uncles and saw you flying. I have never seen another Azrien in the sky. I hope you dont mind that I came to say hi."

D'mitri hovered in the air noticing how she was eyeing him so. It was a little strange to be looked on so like a piece of meat, but it was even stranger that she didn't find him revolting like he had assumed. She was a beauty of course, her coloration reminding him of the dawn when the moon and sun seemed to collide. It also reminded him of water during the night which was gorgeous in his eyes. Speaking of, her eyes reminded him of the moon. Looking at her pendant more closely, he wondered if this mare aligned himself of the night. It also explained her allure.
His ears flicked forward listening to her voice. He nodded wondering if the term was wrong, but it seemed to be pleasing to the mare. Strange how others never used that term. "Wind has mind of own. Sky Riders only need to listen." He flicked his hair from his face listening to her again. "Uncles? What..are Uncles?" D'mitri's face was filled with confusion for a good while. He had never heard that term before. He knew it wasn't a mate, so what could she possibly be doing want to see 'uncles'? It was also a little interesting that she wanted to say hello to him. Many just adverted his presence. "Oh...I...I don not mind." He couldn't help but wonder if his earlier thought was answered. He did want someone or something to acknowledge him. And it came in the form of a mare.

Gabrielle smiles softly at D'mitri."Oh please excuse my manners. My name is Gabrielle, from the Equi Amiticia Herd. Uncles are family members. See they would be my father's brothers. There are other terms as well for family members depending on where in the family you are at. Mothers, Fathers, Sibs which are brother and sisters, Aunts and Uncles, Cousins. To be honest it can get really confusing." Gabrielle shakes her head at all of that information thinking of how this stallion must be taking it.
Gabrielle thinks over her family who adopted her, realizing that she does not feel as an outsider. She is truly part of the family. If she where ever in trouble her Uncles and her Father would protect her. It warmed her to realize this. "I am going there to say good bye for awhile. I need to head towards the palace. Would you happen to know this area very well? I only know alittle of this area from living here but not sure what to expect beyond that river. Maybe you could give me a heads up on what lies over there." She was intrested in learning more about this Stallion, yet senced he might flee if asked personal questions, so she held off hoping that maybe someday they could be good friends.

D'mitri tilted his head a little listening to her explanation. He had to admit, it was a lot of information to take in, but he was trying. Maybe if he had a visible way of seeing all this, it would take in a lot better for him. He shook his head a little. "A lot. Too much. Maybe." He slightly remembered her name at which he gave a gentle cough. "Gabri...Gabrielle..." His brow furrowed as if trying to remember the name. "Am...D'mitri...no herd." The dragon was a little surprised that he gave his real name to her. But then again this female was a fellow sky rider, and one of the moon in fact. She must be worthy of some respect.
At the question, he looked around surveying the landscape. It was true that he learned the area as soon as he could for this isle was his home now. He needed to understand where most of the important places were. His green eyes looked over toward hers and then nodded. "I know. Beyond river is grassland. Follow river to find castle. Past river is forest." The stallion gave a brief snort looking in front of him where the hills and grassland were. He wondered if the mare came from the mountains or maybe her herd was not far from the hills. However, he wondered why she would travel so far.

Gabrielle noticed D'mitri tilting his head seeming to be curious yet having a hard time taking in all that information. Bless him, he is at least trying to understand. Even admitting the information she gave him was too long to take in at once. She smiles at how he said her name the first time liking it a lot. "I love how you said Gabri. Would it be easier for you to just call me that?" She was trying to be helpful to him. "D'mitri, I like your name. No herd, is that hard for you to be alone all the time?"
Gabrielle looks down at the river below them at the mention of it. Once she lifts her head back up to meet his gaze she smiles warmly. "Thank you D'mitri. Would you like to keep me company for a while? I know I would, I am used to being around others." She moves her head so the bangs would once again get out of her eyes. "Is there any wildlife I need to look out for?" She is interested in D'mitri, a dragon azrein. She wondered how he lived and how he viewed things. What was his parents like? What was it like growing up? Was it the same as herd life? She hoped they could be good friends for he seems nice. A good friend is hard to find after all.

D'mitri gave a brief snort and a cough as she offered to shorten her name. He solemnly nodded feeling a little embarrassed that he couldn't even get it right. But to see her smile at the accidental nickname..well it lessened the sting. "Gabri if wish." He nodded offering a faint smile before letting it fall from his face. He felt a pleasant surprise at his name. She liked it. Not much else said anything of it. It made him feel a little better about himself. Just a little. At her question, he snorted. "Yes. No herd. Alone." And being alone didn't bother him. Much.
D'mitri gave a slight bow as if to say 'you're welcome'. He did indeed hope that this fellow sky rider would find what she was looking for. However, as she asked for him to come along he hesitated. He was so used to being alone that he wasn't sure if spending some time with this mare would be bad for him. It would make him used to being around others, that was for sure. But to be around others also left him vulnerable. They would know too much. At her second question, he distracted himself "As far as I see, no. Not much will bother. Long as I go. Creatures harmless. Mostly." He had obviously made his decision to come along. He was sure that no harm would come to her as long as he was around. He flicked his head to move the bangs from his eyes as he watched her carefully, wings pumping to keep him hovering and airborne.

Gabrielle nods at him having no herd in understanding. She was not in a herd till she was adopted by Opal and Ion. There kindness knowing no bounds. She could not help but wonder if he felt a yearning for company, a friend at all. She knew he had to be strong to survive alone all this time. Mostly on the emotional level. She echoed her thoughts to him to see what he thought.
She smiled brightly at his last statement where if she was not mistaken he would come. She looked very much forward to this news. "I am sure I will learn alot from you Sky Rider." She knew that she would learn at least a different way of seeing the world though D'Mitri. That was only a given which is not a bad thing at all. "I love to learn new things."

At her inquisitive questions, his mind absorbed them. He closed his eyes as if trying to find her mind. Still flying, he managed to keep himself in check keeping a firm mental link with the mare. He shared with her growing up in a dark, cold cave as a young foal - alone. As he reached his adolescent age, he flew away and never looked back from his place of birth to travel the world. The first village, he was captured - wings binded - and used a work horse. One night, he was stolen away by other humans who used him in some sort of show. He was often pelted with food and rocks and other such things as well as brutally stabbed. One night he broke free of his bonds, and killed them all. He didn't stay, and immediately went to another small village where hunger got the best of him. D'mitri was alone at night sleeping in an abandoned barn for a long time. The stallion was never with anyone. One night, he found was found by a farmer who gave him food and water. The farmer led him home where he stayed and worked for the family and slept in the warm barn with other horses, some were even other azrein. It didn't last when the barn was set on fire. D'mitri managed to rescue all in the barn, but was chased by the townspeople when they realized what he was. The farmer and his family were forced to leave as they were considered to be demon worshipers. He flashed more images in her mind of leaving, and heading to the Isles...meeting other azrein..and then meeting her. He couldn't help himself as the feeling of relief and awe at her image flooded into her mind. He immediately cut connection there keeping his mind closed again.
He coughed wondering as to why in the hell he did that. It was strange sharing parts of one's life story with another, but her mind was so warm and inviting...it embraced him in a way that he had never known. It was warm..and felt safe. "Learn from you. Gabri." He flashed a small smile before allowing it to leave his lips. He was suddenly repulsed by his teeth and felt the need to hide them. It made him feel strange honestly. "Learn together." He flicked his hair from his face as his wings began to grow tired. He coughed and circled around her before giving the signal that he was about to land. His descent was lazy as he circled for a few more moments allowing him to be a few feet from the ground. D'mitri closed in his wings and landed with a typical thud on his front then back hooves. He looked up at her to see if she would follow. She was even more beautiful in the sky from the ground than he could ever dare imagine.

.:: Gabrielle ::. Gabrielle feels a mental connection with D'Mitri seeing his past and how he grew up, how people betrayed him. Tears ran down her face without her knowalage. She could not believe the coldness at how he was treated simply because of how he looked. He is an Azrein just like her yet treated like a monster. For the first time she felt an anger at the crulty of others. She knew she would do her best to show him the good side to people.
" I would love to teach and learn from you D'Mitri. I believe everything is precious and speical. Everything has its place and a reason for being here. Maybe there is such a thing as Fate. I do not know for sure but I do think we are meant to find each other. To help one another. I would be honored to be called your friend and be yours. "
Gabrielle looks for the connection to share some of her past. The lighting storm where a human found her hidding under some fallen tree trunks alone without parents. The times the human would talk her for walks and teach her about the animals and plants. The time she got lost from her human guardian and almost being runned over by a boy azrein. How she was adopted into the herd she now belongs to. How a single reacurring dream would pleag her to find her chosen forcing her to leave the safety of her home and family to journey till she found that one person. She even shared her first flight to him. Gabrielle Journal Link

The stallion perked his ears forward as he listened carefully to her words. Why was she so interested in a monster like him? He watched her in the sky with amazement and wonder in his gaze. He felt strange as her memories began to stream in his mind. Her past was almost the same but still different. Humans...cared for her. As well as azrein. D'mitri found no reason as to agree with her yet. She was gorgeous as he was a beast.
D'mitri gave a small snort wishing he could believe her. But that was the last thing he needed to be coined by a female again. He gave a grunt giving her a steady gaze with his green eyes. "We see, Gabrielle. Anything possible..." He called to her in the air before he turned and began trotting toward the river. He was thirsty and his wings needed a break. Then he'd travel with her as he promised...to wherever she would go.

.:: Gabrielle ::. Gabrielle noded her head with a smile forgetting he might not see her acknowledge him. She continued to beat her wings battling the currents now noticing that D'mitri had landed on the ground. If she did not know better she would swear that the currents are picking up speed as if a storm brewing in that current area. She looked down at the land below them to see if there was any safe place they might rest and wait the storm out. She had never been stuck in a storm nor did she wish to!
" D'mitri, do you feel the wind picking up? I think there might be a storm brewing? We might need to find shelter soon. Would you happen to know this area and where a cave or somekind of shelter might be? I am looking for a place to land now."
She finds a safe place to land on the ground and walks over to D'mitri with a smile even though she is alittle worried. She knew they would be alright as long as they worked together. Teamwork makes things alot easyer than if alone not to mention the other might find things you did not. Gabrielle Journal Link

D'mitri did in fact notice the strong wind currents. It was a quick change of weather as the skies started to gray with anger, the clouds rolling with the winds. His nostrils flared as he called out to Gabrielle. It gave him peace to know that she seemed to read his mind by landing close by. The stallion raised his wings to shield her from the winds as she came closer.
"Forest close by. Strong shelter from storms. Let us go. We can walk." He nodded affirmatively keeping stride with her gait but careful to not intrude on her personal space. It was strange being so close to another and for such a long period of time. Usually he would have been on his way by now, but he couldn't leave at this point. It would make him feel...well that was a word he hadn't used in a while. He was feeling a sense of duty to Gabrielle, and even stranger was that he didn't mind.
The walk to the forest seemed long as the rains began to fall from the pregnant clouds. He made sure to keep his wings over her frame in an effort to keep her dry. Well try to. The forest wouldn't be much farther now. It was one of his hideaways in this part of the isles. He wouldn't be surprised if she had been here before. D'mitri would just have to find out.
