The waterfall Theluji had found while scouting the area was beautiful. Smaller than the first one she'd seen when she'd first entered the lands outside the swamps, but still beautiful. Mist and rainbows glistened in the falling sheets of water. With a small oasis of greenry and shade and moisture and softness and water she could be in. She hadn't felt mud squishing between her toes and water lapping at her paws in too long. It made her homesick but comforted at the same time.
And the waterfall's small pool allowed for easy hunting. Fish. They were so much easier to hunt and pounce on than the running prey with so much open ground and space. While she was still learning to bring down prey like Shabnam, Theluji hadn't quite gotten it yet so whenever there was a small creek, stream or pool close by, she ended hunting fish. Good thing she liked fish. A lot.
After her initial enjoyment of the pool, soaking wet from it, Theluji trudged out of the pool and set up blockades around the mouth of creek that lead away from the area. It would help keep the fish from leaving the pool. She pounced around, scaring the fish into a shallow before proceeding to pick off the appealing ones. She caught six fish, flinging their flapping bodies onto the waterless shore to wait as she went after the next one until she held the sixth in her mouth.
Settling down facing the waterfall and lulled by the peacefulness and meal, Theluji set about eating her conquests.

Tavar was 'off-duty'. And since he wasn't really in the mood the mess with Tuli again...he was out and about, looking for more additions to the pride, either demons who were ALMOST to the borders, or new slaves. Or demon-hunters to kill. They looked like they were getting ready to finally venture beyond their borders. He grinned when he caught a lioness' scent, crouching to track it. It lead along the river that drained into his home, and up to a waterfall...ah! There was the source!
He caught the strengthening of the scent before he saw her. And when he saw her...he could only smile. Well! Perhaps this was one capture that would not fail. He shook himself a little, smoothed his mane back, and continued forward.
"My...what is a little one like you doing out here?" He would approach this better than he had his last attempt.

The deep voice startled Theluji, making her drop the fish she'd been eating. She quickly turned her head, giving herself a kink in her neck, to see a large nice looking male that was definitely fluffy making his way towards her. And he wasn't that far away from what she could determine.
Theluji wanted to facepaw herself. She had been so involved in the surrounding calm and serenity, she hadn't been alert or causious. Shabnam would have been disappointed and helped her facepaw. Well, maybe not helped her facepaw herself, Shabnam was still too reserved for that, but Theluji knew the hyena wouldn't have liked the fact that her friend wasn't taking her lessons seriously enough to practice them all the time.
Not wanting to appear afraid of the large fluffy male, or offend him in anyway, Theluji stayed in her prone position. She could move quickly if need be from there, not as quickly as if she were standing, but the element of surprise might win her a few precious seconds if she needed it. Hopefully Shabnam's teachings wouldn't make her paranoid and make her feel like she needed it. Hopefully.
"Eating." Theluji responded. She didn't want the male to be staying any longer than necessary, so she didn't elaborate. Thankfully she and Shabnam had only just parted ways when Theluji had been able to bring down a gazelle with ease, so Theluji wasn't starved for conversation or company. Otherwise, she was afraid to think if she would have sort company from a fluffy male.

If she weren't so pale, she might be 'cute'. A shame. She had a nice, lithe build, not too scrawny...she would be well-suited as a Na'artue. "Eating hm?" He surveyed her meal with seeming interest, then nodded. "It looks like a good catch. It's rare I see a lion with any skill at fishing. Or...did you have aid?" He knew several birds were adept at fishing...and none of them were ones he wanted to cross. He had learned to pick his battles after the encounter with the non-demon god.

Theluji frowned at the male and gestured at the pile of fish carcasses next to her. "I can hunt!" She didn't need any help hunting fish. They were easy. Especially out of the swamps. They didn't have as many places to escape the fisher here on the outside. She didn't like the fluffy male. He only proved that males were too, what was the word mommy and Shabnam had used? Arrogant? Well whatever it was, this male had it in spades.

Tavar chuckled, nodding. "Of course. I meant no insult. It's just rare that I see a lion that can fish." He looked her over again. "Were are you from, might I ask? I've not seen a lioness built like you before." Call it curiosity. And a want to try and lure her into a false sense of security...

Theluji felt . . . cornered, but she didn't understand why. She didn't understand why she didn't want to tell this fluffy male about home, and without any rational explanation, Theluji answered honestly. "The swamplands. Fish, frogs, lizards, and birds are some of the easiest prey to catch, as long as their not familiars, of course." Theluji looked him up and down frowning. "Why? Can't you hunt fish?"
She found it hard to believe a fluffy male couldn't do something so easy that cubs in her pride didn't necessarily find it hard to catch a fish. Especially when it was so easy outside the swamps. Feeling kind of sorry for the fluffy male, she tossed him one of her remaining untouched fishes before taking a bite out of her own fish. Obviously she needed to stop judging males so quickly if they couldn't hunt fish.

The swamps, hm? He'd heard tales of ghosts in the swamps beyond the Mwana lands. He could see why creatures might think that, with such a pale lioness in front of him. "No, because I've no need to. The lands I am from are large and full of savanna, perfect for large game. The one river we have is best used for drinking." And no fish resided in the hot springs. Too warm for them to live.

Theluji raised her eyebrows and concentrated on tearing into her meal. "Well, it's extremely easy out here in the open. You just have to be careful with the tiny bones when you're eating them." Theluji offered. politely spitting out some of the bones. "All you really have to do is set up a blockade like that one there and scare the fish to get caught in it," Theluji pointed to the dam-like structure she'd created before and left up just in case she'd want more fish.
Now with the fluffy male still standing above her, not moving any closer or father away from her, Theluji was starting to think of taking the blockade down and being on her way. She finished her meal and stood stretching. After a few pops from her spine and joints, Theluji jumped back into the pool of water and dismantled the blockade. "Well, I'll be on my way. Nice talking to you."

This girl...was rather snotty, he decided. Definitely didn't know her place. But he made it seem like he was listening...and then she made to leave. DAMMIT. He let go of a low growl, moving to follow her. "Perhaps I am not done talking with you." The pride needed Na'artu and Na'artue. He wasn't letting her get away. Not easily.

Theluji tilted her head and stared in total confusion, baffled by the lion's response. Ans she admitted to herself, frightened. Theluji heard the low soft growl as she'd started to leave the area.
She stood in the pool, the water lapping at her underbelly and frowned. "Sorry? You just didn't seem that interested in the conversation or the fish I had given you and that's all I really know how to do outside the swamp, so I figured there wasn't any other talking going to happen?" Her voice fluctuated from statement to question randomly as she explained her action. Which she didn't understand why she was doing that either. Maybe it was because this fluffy male truly did scare her. A lot.
"What did you want to talk about?"

Tavar smirked, stopping just short of the water. Was that fear, deep in her voice? If so...good. She should be scared. "How do you feel...about demons?" Everyone had one myth or another about demons, that which hunted in the night and preyed upon mortals. Surely this girl had heard of demons.

Theluji tilted her head and frowned. Deman? She tried to reach back into the teachings of the pride or anything else that might have talked about that word or thing. "No, I'm sorry. I don't know anything about de-men. Are they like vijini? Or trapped spirits of the dead?"
This was odd, that the big fluffy male wanted to talk about- whatever this was.Well, now that she'd shown her ignorance in this topic, perhaps he will want to leave, since this wasn't going to anywhere near a two sided discussion.

The fire-maned lion stared. She....did not know about demons. What the...this needed to be rectified. "No, they are not trapped spirits of the dead. They are...spirits of a sort, I suppose. They are dark, and powerful. And sometimes...they take residence in a lion, to show the world their power. In a way that won't destroy it." For all his a**-ery, he was still a follower of Sparda.

Theluji's frown deepened. That hardly made any sense. "So ... de-mens are vijini that are commanded by the gods to possess lions to show the vijini power? So they are sent by a evil or at least not so nice god ... " Theluji raised her eyebrow as sh stated the explanation out loud. It sounded even more ridiculous. Maybe the large fluffy male was sick. Maybe he needed more than a few fishes to help him out.
