Ever since he saw the boy, he had gained a slight obsession with the mask he was seen habitually carrying around. After the failed attempt during the meeting for the mission, Dakota had deemed Wilson a rival worthy of his constant time and attention.

In fact, it was the first time he had been so clearly caught with something so simple but....He wanted to be the first to see the mysterious boy's face.

"Correct Chama." he patted his weapon as he waited for the death hunter to pass by in the halls. He had monitored the other hunters schedule closely the past few days and noticed that of course, Wilson took this path to get to his dorm room. As did all of the hunters...because it was the only path given.

"Won't happen Chama." He was so confident in his skills that he had no time to actually worry about another hunter in his attempt to catch the masked one. "Nobody comes around at this time anyways." At least he thought no one did.

Technically, Dakota would never be the first to see Wilson’s face. People already knew what he looked like underneath the mask and it was more likely to spot the young man without the mask rather than with the mask. The gasmask contained questionable memories, after all. Plus, toting around a tank and dual cannons got pretty exhausting after a while.

This time he had a legit reason for donning the mask. After spending the morning with Gramps yakking inside his brain to do some training, he decided to go along with his partner and to head out toward one of the courses. Horrible, horrible idea. You know, maybe we should wait on doing those training courses. [Nonsense! It’s only because you barely stepped onto the course when you got defeated by those shadowlings.] Suddenly he was grateful that others could not hear his weapon because he sort of didn’t want his failure to be shouted out to the world.

As he neared the dorms, he heard a shout and hurried over. What was going on?! To his dismay, Wilson found a hunter caught in some…trap. He spent a good five seconds staring at the troubling sight before he noticed a familiar hunter trainee. OH SHI— He attempted to scramble out of view, but by then Dakota had plenty of time to spot him.

Had Dakota known that he wasn't the one to see Wilson's face underneath first well...He would be heart broken, truly, truly heart broken.

But he hadn't, and every time he had seen the boy, He had always had his mask on. Especially in the training grounds, most defenitly in the training grounds.

He snapped out of his thoughts as he heard Chama shout out. Rubbing his head he gave his weapon a droll stare.

Dakota leaped up from his spot, excited a he stalked over to Wilson.

"Caught you." He sing songed as he came closer, "We meet again Wilson, and your mask is to be ours."

He grinned at the obvious excitement of his weapon, easily explaining the small flame surrounding his sheath.

Fortunately Wilson wouldn’t point that fact out to Dakota, at least not yet. He didn’t know how to repair broken hearts.

Did he see me? I hope not. He held back a groan as he squeezed his eyes shut, his back pressed against a wall. However, his hopes shattered when he heard a familiar voice coming up behind him. [No, he saw you.]

This time Wilson really did groan as he banged the back of his head against the wall, but tried to do it quietly so Dakota wouldn’t hear. “I’d like to kindly request that you don’t take my mask, since it’s uh…my partner.” Really. Straightening up, he stepped away from the wall and inched away from the younger boy. Wilson walked backwards, just like he always did, but it was bit more difficult because the gasmask narrowed his field of vision. He glanced back nervously. “How about we talk this out?”

He hummed as he circled the boy before stopping in front of him.

"There there Wilson, it's not like we're going to HURT you over your mask." He grinned.

He patted his weapon that flared up with him, further encouraging his stealing behavior.

"Your kidding right? There is NO way that your mask is your weapon." Dakota frowned, well maybe it was?

"Yeah! YEAH! No way is that your weapon!" He moved forward, pinning the older boy. "It's okay Wilson, I just want to know what's underneath okay!?!?"

The circling unsettled the older man. It made him feel like some helpless prey caught in a trap. Wilson watched Dakota grin as he attempted to reassure him, but it only made him worry about his safety even more. “Yeah, yeah…” He sounded sincerely unconvinced. The sudden hiss as his weapon flared up further corroborated Wilson’s suspicions. He should probably hightail out of here as soon as possible. Gramps, why couldn’t you be lighter?!

“I’m serious! The mask is part of my weapon.” Wilson figured it wise to stress the word ‘part.’ “Look, if you want to see my face so much I’ll take my mask off for you, okay?” He suggested as he slid a hand out and reached up to pull down the gasmask.

Dakota could see it in Wilson's eye's....or maybe not, because the mask was blocking it. But he could feel it, he was unnerving his prey, like a true predator. Did that make him a bigger man? No it just made him more aware of the power he had to remove the mask and answer the question that had bugged him since he first saw the other boy.

"No really! This will be quick...Painless." He joked as sat himself in front of the other boy.

"Really? That's lame, doesn't that suck when you have to attack?" He rocked back and forth before his orange eyes widened. "Oh my god you would show me?!?!" He held his breath.

SHUSH CHAMA. HE'S PULLING IT OFF.

His movements froze for a brief second as Wilson quizzically eyed the younger lad, who happily plopped down onto the ground in anticipating of the mask’s removal. He quirked his eyebrow, but was amused nonetheless. “Painless, you say. Maybe for you it is.” Wilson smiled beneath the mask, one hand gripping the front valve while the other reached behind his head for the strap. “It doesn’t suck, not really. Considering my attack, it’s actually pretty damn useful.”

Slowly, he lifted the mask off his face, revealing a broad grin and faint dimples. Wilson breathed in gulps of fresh air once it was completely off. His dark red eyes blinked a few times, adjusting to the burst of colors that now registered in his mind again. It was a relief, actually, to not constantly view the world through a dark green filter. He briefly combed his hair with his fingers, undoing the small knots. “Uh, so yeah. Not particularly exciting. Sorry.”

Oh god the suspense.

Music played in his head, having him lean forward as he peered at Wilson.

Finally the curiosity would be settled. Finally he would know.

CHAMA STOP HUMMING THAT RIDICULOUS SOUNDS, YOUR DISTRACTING ME. He mentally screamed at his weapon.

When the mask was removed he was met with...

Ordinary.

All his excitement deflated.

"No scars, no face disfigurations, nothing whatsoever." Dakota mumbled before pushing himself up. Sighing.

"Well then Wilson, This game has been really tiring and I didn't get what I thought I would out of it so I am going to leave." Dakota sighed again, almost completely dejected before perking up. "Don't worry about your mask being taken anymore, it has no value now." He grinned as he started to walk away, throwing a peace symbol at Wilson. "I'll see you out on the field bro!"

We find something more interesting! He thought fondly, patting the sword. Though he'd keep an eye on Wilson, the older boy might have more secrets up his sleeve after all.

Honestly, Wilson wasn’t very surprised when he watched the other trainee deflate with disappointment once he had removed his mask. He figured Dakota had been after his mask for the sole reason of seeing what was underneath, expecting something interesting once Wilson took it off. Well, sorry to disappoint. Wilson didn’t need much help to deduced what exactly Dakota was mumbling to himself. He smiled sheepishly as he scratched his head. “Yeah, sorry my face isn’t that interesting.” [Why in Jack’s name are you apologizing? There is no need. Hmph. Serves the kid right for going after me like that! Why if I had a body I’d—] He did his best to stifle the weapon’s rant.

“Ah, well. Thank you.” He raised an awkward arm to wave at Dakota as he began to walk away. [No value? Let me at this whippersnapper, I have value!] Ahhhh. This is not good. Wilson squeezed his eyes shut and rubbed his temple. “What? Oh! Yeah, see you out on the field. Yeah…Yeah…” Once he returned Gramps to his desummoned form he stuffed him into his coat pocket before strolling back into the dorm, careful to avoid the fallen net.
