The morning sun was just peeking over the horizon, the shadows still long in the forest. The first calls of early birds brightening with the day. A gentle breeze played through the high leaves, creating a soft sigh in the woods. The stream by which the trail ran burbled happily and the day seems full of promise.

Auri had already been walking for an hour. Bats had woken him from his sleep when they returned to the cave in which he had taken shelter for the night. His friend Tiger was out, scouting and hunting for himself. Auri didn't usually rise so early, but he didn't mind. The day was beautiful and he absently hummed to himself as he walked. Had he not feared losing the forest trail he would have flown. But it was nice to stretch his legs and he did want to see who he might find along this path.
