Roch was bored again, stuck in a hotel room with his dad and grandad and listening to them fight over the card game they'd dragged him into. He knew the rules well enough, he figured, but he was positive the jackers were just seeing who cheated better. That was just down right dirty.
He folded, leaning back and pulling out his phone. For a moment he scrolled through his contacts and then picked one at random. The phone made a glutted noise, and Roch almost didn't notice the cards being dealt to him as it was answered.
"Hey, Moure, how's it goin?"

Moure was out on a Run.
He hadn't had time to do so for a while, not since before Red's passing, and so the Runner had taken the time to go out and do the thing he loved. The beating sound of his own footsteps hitting the ground and then leaving it nearly just as fast was soothing, a constant in the turmoil which was life at the academy right now.
Mid-stride he heard the sound of his skelephone going off, and felt the slight vibration of it in his pocket. He quickly scooped it out, flipping it open and putting it to his ear, noting Roch's voice on the other end. He didn't break a stride and simply continued running, the sound of his footsteps faintly reaching the phone. "Oh hey Roch. Not too bad. What about yourself?" Moure asked, a slight curiosity coming to mind about why Roch would be calling him.
Moure rounded a corner of the bend of his path, speaking effortlessly despite the fact that he was out for a Run. "What's up? Do you need anything?" It was natural for Moure to ask if someone needed an Errand run if he was talking to them on the phone. He didn't get calls often, so usually the ones he got were for things like a change mid-Errand, or a new Errand altogether.

"Nah, man, even if I did, I'm too far for even you to run," Roch said, grinning. "Sounds like you're doin' good, though. I probably should have called earlier to check, honestly. I really suck at stuff like that."
He squirmed a bit, then grabbed the pillow next to his, placing it on top so it'd make a decent backrest. "You haven't had any trouble with the boogies, have you?" he asked quietly.

"Oh really?" Moure asked, eyebrrows raising slightly. Where was Roch? Had he left school or something? Or was this a challenge (although a mock one) to Moure's running capabilities? Either way, Moure found himself asking, "You not at the school right now, or something?" It would explain the distance thing, if he wasn't. Then Moure nodded, although he knew Roch couldn't see him do so. "I am, I guess. Just Running right now. Kind of like what I was doing when we first met." Moure remembered the punk challenging Moure into getting him some pizzas and gave a slight chuckle before continuing. "It's okay. I figured Danny would pass on the news if something really wasn't right, you know? Have you called everyone else yet?" Moure asked curiously as he rounded another bend and found himself passing the Monster dorms.
Trouble with the boogies? Moure quickly answered, some concern for his once-group-member in his voice. "No, no I haven't. Why, have you? Did something happen?" Moure asked, knowing that Roch had had some...interesting involvements with the boogeymen before. Had something happened, and was that why Roch was apparently far off?

"I'm on vacation," Roch said. "We're taking a... family road trip, I guess you could say. And I haven't called everyone, no, but I've seen Danny on groanspring a few times, so I figure she's fine." He frowned slightly.
"I figure Rikki's fine, too. He can handle himself. But G..." He scowled. "Don't think G even has a phone," he admitted. "So I guess there is an errand I could ask you to do. Not right now or anything, just sometime. Think you could check up on the big guy?"

Moure was about to give a nod, but then paused as something clicked in his head. "A vacation? With your family? I thought...that you had a, ah, interesting family situation." Moure tried to put it as best he could, since he didn't know if said family would also be listening in on the phone call (like if it was on speaker or something), or if it was just Roch on the other end. Moure shook his head slightly and responded to the bit involving Danny. "She is. I mean, from what I've seen she's just drowning out the event via throwing Rabos at people. Where did she even get so many of those...?" The question was more of a retorical, actually curious one, and then Moure continued. "But yeah, she seems fine besides that. She came by the other day to check up on me."
Moure continued on his path, feet hitting the ground in a sort of pattern, and said. "Rikki's probably fine...oh, but G, yeah..." Moure frowned, seeing the reasoning behind Roch's worry. "Definitely. I can definitely do that Errand. I'll check up on him sometime, see if he's okay and how he's doing."

"Her parents sent them to her," Roch said. "I ain't surprised she's tossing them at people, we had to move them just so she could get to her bed," he drawled. "And yeah, it gets more interesting by the moment," he added, glancing at his dad and grandad who were in a heated poker game at the moment. "I think they're betting on who gets to pet my head next--don't ask," he said quickly.
He was silent for a second, now satisfied that someone would be checking up on G. But-- "Moure?" he asked. "You still having that little... problem with Claire?"

"I could see them sending her boxes and boxes of minipets." Moure said, now understanding the huge amount of presents she'd been toting around. Danny's parents, in Moure's opinion, where like the most doting parents Moure had ever heard of. "Ah, really?" Moure's eyebrows rose, trying to comprehend what must've been going on on the other side of the phone. "Petting your hea-- Ahh, well, alright then." Moure said, trying not to question the reaper's peculiar request.
Moure's footsteps continued on, kicking up little puffs of dirt with each tread. Roch was silent on the other end of the line, so Moure wasn't sure if the conversation would be continuing much longer. Moure was about to ask Roch, when his name came from the Skelephone. "Yes Roch?" He asked in response, wondering what was up. Then, the question came and Moure almost overtook a step just out of the sudden, unexpected topic change. He recovered easily from the step, but was still trying to figure out what to say now. "I...I still haven't seen her since Prom..." He started, trying to make sense of what to say. "But now, there's Edel and..." Moure found himself saying, realizing again how much he cared for the Frost Demoness. He let out a a bit of a dismayed sigh and tried to think of what to say. He reached up, noting that he still had Edel's pendant around his throat, the smooth surface a contrast against the sewn up skin behind it. "Yeah, but... man I don't know what to do. Any suggestions?" Moure asked, hoping the reaper might have some advice.

"Don't ask me, man," Roch muttered. "I really don't get ghouls. I've decided I never will, hell, if these two crusty jacktards are any indicator, nobody does. But hey, there's Rikki! He's got a ghoulfriend! You might ask him for advice, although, dude, don't tell him I said this, but his ghoulfriend seems a little... uh... flaky." Said they guy that operated on Roch Logic. "Actually, don't ask me about ghouls right now, I'm having an anti-ghoul day."
And he'd been the one to bring it up. Roch, Roch, Roch...

"I see." Moure blinked at Roch's phillipic against ghoul-kind, responding with the first thing to come to mind. Apparently things weren't working out for him right now, although Moure couldn't blame him. The patchwork had no idea what to do with his own situation, nor did he have any advice for the slight-upset-sounding reaper. "A-ah, alright then." He didn't want the punk to feel any worse.
Something occured to Moure then, that Roch had mentioned two people. Who was he with? Or was it just like figurative speech of some kind. "Hey wait, where are you anyway? I mean, since you're on vacation with your, uh, family, right?" The Runner kept running all this while. He passed by the monster dorms again, and realized he'd apparently run a circuit around the grounds already. Moure kept following the same path again, in any case. Might as well pass by the buildings farther down again. It's not like he had any particular place to be. (Although he did need to go feed Edel's pets soon...)

Roch blinked, memories of deserts passing by, small towns flashing through his mind, bright lights followed by no lights at all. He'd seen half of Halloween, it felt like, but he hadn't. Halloween was massive. He frowned, reaching into the air, trying to draw an invisible map of the route they'd taken. He only remembered a tiny bit of the first drive--the bit after he'd woken up in the middle of nowhere. But that wasn't what the patchwork had asked.
He looked over at his granddad, then at his dad, seeing them look at him, amused expressions on their faces. "That ain't another ghoul, is it?" he dad teased him. He rolled his eyes, turning to face the front again.
Where was he? The simple answer, the most honest answer would probably be "Mot's Town," because that was where he was physically. But...
"Jack man, I don't know where I am, really," he said finally. "Somewhere between jackin' confused and delirious, with a leaning towards resigned." Yeah, that about summed up where he was, he thought. It about summed up where he'd been this entire trip.

Moure waited as Roch was silent, hoping that he hadn't just got the reaper in trouble for asking about his location. The patchwork plodded along, the sound of his footsteps contrasting against the silence coming from the skelephone. Little puffs of dust came from each footfall, drifting back to the ground after Moure had stepped away again.
Finally, he heard the reaper respond. Moure was taken a bit off guard, as he didn't often hear Roch speak in so philsophically, but gave a nod out of habit anyway. (The fact that Roch could not see this nod did nothing to stop Moure from doing it.) "Ah, I see...?" Well, kind of, anyway. He gave another nod, then said, "Well, I hope you can figure it out soon. Good luck." The patchwork wasn't experienced with helping others with these sorts of problems, so he tried to say what seemed like it could assist the most. Hopefully Roch could find out soon.

"Nah, man, I think I've gotten past the point of trying to figure out it," Roch drawled. He hesitated, wondering if he was forgetting something. It was a bit dirty, making Moure do all his running around while he was gone, but he'd already figured out that the boil was good at it. "You can call me back if anything's wrong, man, you know that," he said. "I might not be able to fix anything while I'm out here, but hell, I can do what I can when I get back."
He went silent for a moment, then shrugged. "Either way, man, I'll see you when I get back. Bye." He hung up, looking at his phone for a long moment, staring at one name in particular. He'd called Taryn, he'd called Hel, he'd called Moure. All Danny would do is complain, like she was doing on groanspring, so that was out.
He wanted to call Xiu.
He wasn't going to.
