Siddie tapped lightly on Sammy's door and waited. Funny how much more at home she felt here; over the past few days, she'd been on an emotional rollercoaster, just all over the place. Sammy was healing up, at least. Siddie still had trouble believing what had happened; while she didn't really doubt the truth of the story the zombie ghoul had painfully recounted, it was a lot to take in at once. Hunters? But Hunters were scareling stories, something mummies and deaddies threatened disobedient littles with to get them to go to bed or eat their vegetables - and the look in Sammy's eyes when she'd talked about them, weary anger and hidden fear, had convinced Siddie utterly.
And Professor Red was gone. Really gone. Siddie had never known the werewolf particularly well, but she'd respected her. And somehow, it was always hard to accept that someone was really, permanently dead, their FEAR dissipated. It gave her cold chills. Siddie shivered a little, clutching the bag of spookies tighter in her hand.
Chili stirred in Siddie's hood and stretched up to rub a cool, furred cheek against her mistress's neck, trilling with concern. Siddie scratched absentmindedly behind the drutten's horns. "Shh, it's okay, sweetiebrains. I'm okay."

Home felt empty, or distorted. She wasn't sure which. She felt like a part of it had been ruined entirely in the post events of the field trip, so to be in her room was a blessing and a curse. She wanted out, she wanted to do something but what could be done? Arel was right and they had to avoid doing anything reckless, at least for the moment.
Slowly she shifted from the bed moving the mace she had kept from the island trip, it lately never left her bed. Emily was right, they could get them anywhere it seemed. So it was best to be safe and keep something nearby to try and level the playing field in a fight. All around milled random Scareons, the usual group, Ixxy, Omen, and Nolan along with Shemmy sat on the bed perking up only slightly to watch as their guardian moved to open the door.
It was only a crack, the chain lock pulling taught as Sammy peeked between the crack, "Hey Sid, gimi a second alright?" She stepped back shutting the door, the sound of the chain rattling before it opened again.
"C'mon in, don't mind the scareons their all just kinda of pittering about in and out the closet." She gestured back behind her towards the open door, another two scareons wandering in to replace one who wandered out to the mini land.
"Feel bad leaving the door shut when I'm gone..."

"I know," Siddie said, stepping in and peering with concern at her ghoulfriend. "You haven't been out much," she worried, and held up the little bag she carried. "Um, my last batch of spookies came out well ... I made your favorite, even." She kissed Sammy lightly, just a gentle brush of lips.

Glancing around Sammy tsked and pointed at Omen who was reaching his paw rather close towards the mace is if intending to poke at the object. He always took a liking to what ever object Sammy was most focused on at the time, or her guest.
"Naw not really, I've been visiting Cricket to get patched up." She held up her arm and the skin was restored where it had burned away, though the tone was slightly off as the skin adjusted to a new body after being placed fresh on a dead body. Natural FEAR would weave it into the system, but her left arm was still black with bits of white flecking through it.
"Aw... Siddie you didn't have to do that." She went to take the bag but was taken back when Siddie instead leaned up for a brief kiss causing her to forget about the Spookies for just a moment and instead return the kiss.
Home, it was nice to be back; even if it was horribly strange lately.
When they finally parted and moved into the room proper Sammy went about relocking her door before turning to Siddie again. "So I never asked, all the hustle and chaos of everyone coming back, how was your trip home?"

"You are looking better," Siddie nodded. She leaned into Sammy gratefully for a few moments, then straightened and handed over the spookies. Her eyes lingered on the blackened bone of Sammy's arm. Fire had done that, Red's cold fire. A memorial of sorts, and a testament to Sammy's strength.
She moved over to the bed and scritched Omen behind his ear, then scooped Ixxy up and nuzzled the water scareon affectionately, cooing at her. Chili leaned her head on Siddie's shoulder and trilled a greeting to the other mini.
At the question, though, Siddie tensed. She said quietly, almost a mumble, "Not so great. It's - it's okay."

Sammy shrugged, "No more dead then I've been before." She took the bag not even thinking as her left hand started to rummage about for the most chocolate soaked Spookie of them all. Slipping it out she started to much turning about to watch her Ghoulfriend get comfortable with the minis.
Omen tilted his head forward churring softly as hie ears where scratched, tail flickering side to side lazily as Ixxy gave a happier chirp at being picked up. All the while Shemmy and Nolan blinked at Chili cocking their heads to the side yipping in greeting.
"Not great? Well... that kinda sucks." She shrugged, "Could have been worse though... right?" She said as she crunched on the spookie again.

Chili flowed up and over Siddie's shoulder, hopping down onto the bed to touch noses with the scareons there, while Siddie cuddled Ixxy a little closer, turning the amiable scareon over to give her a tummyrub, keeping her eyes on the mini. She had to swallow twice before she could speak.
"Not. Not really," she said, not looking at Sammy. "I can't go back."

Nolan and Shemmy each poked noses in turn, Nolan of course in turn paced in a circle before curling up lazily to let the new mini meet the others Shemmy of course simply pounce Chili happily; apparently she had the manners of Sammy when it came to other people like Shehk, fuzzy and cute.
All the while Ixxy cocked her head slightly wondering what made Siddie look so frumpy chirping sadly.
"What do you mean go back?" She paused lowering the bag of Spookies. Moving to the bed to sit beside the ghoul, "They just don't have the time or their going away?"

Chili wrestled amiably with Shemmy, chirping and chattering all the while; however, when her mistress sat down on the bed and got all tense and quiet, she extricated herself from the wrestling match and trotted over to climb Siddie's arm and settle around her shoulders like a furry collar.
"No, I - " Siddie swallowed again and leaned her cheek on Chili's fur, hugging Ixxy tighter. "Daddy told me not to leave early, he had plans for me, and when I said I was leaving anyway, he said if I left his house without his permission I wasn't to come back." She ducked her head and squeezed her eyes shut, trying to ward off tears.

Soon Chili was scooting away and Shemmy sat up head cocked to the side, the mood was changing and a few of the more loved Scareons started to wonder what was going on, Omen, Nolan, Ixxy, and Shemmy focused the most all quieting tilting their heads curiously.
Sammy meanwhile placed a hand gently on Siddie's shoulder, "Huh what, why?" She frowned deeply as they sat there, she could tell Siddie was about to cry, she had seen this before, after the Island how the ghoul would tighten up just before. "Why would they say that? They can't mean that Siddie..."

Siddie shook her head a little. "No, he meant it," she said quietly. "I'm no use to them if I keep disobeying. They were going to introduce me to some of the possible candidates for my engagement." She kept her eyes on Ixxy, petting the water scareon as she spoke. Her voice had gone tight and shaky, tears just barely contained.

How could they mean that? Why would they kick Siddie out? She had always been a rather docile and complient ghoul as far as Sammy knew so the idea that she could upset them this much with one outburst was beyond her.
Till the next part came up.
"C-canidates for engagements?!

Siddie shrugged a little bit, still not looking at Sammy. She didn't want to see her ghoulfriend's face when she confessed this part. "I was supposed to marry money. Mama and Daddy didn't so much care who, as long as they were rich enough. Keep the family fortune growing. They at least h-had the consideration to offer me a f-few choices." She tried not to hear herself; her voice had gone bitter and tight and shaky, and she wasn't sure she could hold off tears much longer.

Ixxy responded only by looking up woefully at Siddie, her own face reflecting worry that was growing around the scareons, only the most loyal stayed in the room now, the other slinking away at the sounds of distress knowing Sammy was not in a good mood nor her guest.
"Into Money? But Siddie, why would they have done that, didn't they know?" She paused and it sank in just a bit, "They never knew about us they just thought they could send you off like that? What would happen if they had? Siddie..." She was somewhat hurt by this, had she not told her parents? Had they not approved? Or wouldn't have? Surely not considering Sammy lived off allowences from the school.

"I don't - I don't know," Siddie whispered. "I didn't want to have to choose. I didn't think about it much. I just ... I never thought it was so bad, before, but ... I didn't know what to do, I - I didn't think I'd love you." The tears spilled over now, leaving faint shining trails down her cheeks as her throat closed and made further words impossible. She kept her head down, utterly ashamed.
