Legend of Lunaria Captain
|

This zone includes Main Street and the Ichi-Koi Inn and Bar.xxxxxIf the Cherry Tree Hill is the spiritual heart of Lunaria, then Main Street is the lifeblood. Restaurants, taverns, inns, settled merchants: Main Street has anything you could possibly want, except potentially a sense of calm. But if you are in the Imperial City's Western Quarter, that is an unlikely desire. The most popular of the gathering places is the Ichi-Koi Inn and Bar, though the owner is so laid back that troublemakers seem to frequent the place. It has survived many brawls as well as an all-out hostage situation, and remained intact. The staff there are a rugged and strange assortment of Lunarians, and the regulars just as remarkable, though there are also the rather unremarkable drunkards who start fights over a single spilled drop of beer.xxxxxThat was the old Main Street, in any case. While the rest of the lands reflect the bubbling violence beneath the surface, Main Street is no exception. The Ichi-Koi Inn and Bar has been closing early, blinds drawn, muffled voices seeping through any cracks in the structure. Who is inside? Is it a meeting, a secret society, just the owners expressing worry? No one can possibly tell, except for whoever is inside that building. xxxxxBodies turn up in side streets, even in the doors of certain businesses, or dumped out windows like trash. Who would do these things? The rate at which these mysterious crimes occur is escalating rapidly, exacerbated by the chaos and confusion of a rising war. Nothing can hold back the tide of violence, and this far into the heart of Lunaria, the deaths are most evident.

The whole world had gone to hell.
The main-street was a place that Sara usually ventured anymore, especially not alone, the war had been getting worse and even in daylight hours crowded places were proving to be very dangerous. However today was an exception, the temple had received word of the wave of chao's that was sweeping Lunaria. She knew that something had happened on Cherry Tree Hill, put as of this moment she had no idea what they something actually was.
Admittedly a small part of her wanted to find out, she knew that Yue would be there, the tree meant so much to her. It was after-all, the place her and Jianyu had got engaged. The tealed hair conduit brought her hand to her chest and clenched it into a fist, as if she could hold her heart and slow down its beating.
Just please be safe, all of you, just be alive, okay?
She thought she had become quite used to the fighting, the the death and the smell of evil in the air. Yet she had never seen something quite like this. The dead was always a domain that most respected, but now bodies littered the streets disregarded like they were nothing. Death she could handle... the fact that all these people had been thrown out like trash, nobody raising a eyebrow, clothing their eyes or even caring. That was something that disturbed her.
She wondered from body to body with a blank, almost soulless look on her face. Maybe she could find one still alive, maybe if she could just save one. However her hope dwindled with every new face, all she could do was pull down their eyelids and say a silent prayer, there were going to be a lot of funerals on the morrow.

The chaos was spreading rapidly throughout the city like an infection, bodies littered the street, piling up in corners and sometimes spilling into the streets. It was truly disgusting, and for once Lestari was grateful her mother wasn't letting her go out as much as before. If there was one thing Sinta was good at, it was protecting her children from harm, and right now they needed lots of protection. Though, even if her mother was worried about her, Les still went out to see Sara. The priest might have beaten her outright in a duel, but one girl wasn't going to survive if a whole pack of crazies went after her. Lestari also went because truthfully, she liked Sara, and she wasn't about to let a friend go out there alone.
As they walked long the main street, Lestari felt tense. The place was crowded with both dead and living bodies, and it sent her blue haired Lunarian on edge. Her eyes constantly scanned around them, looking at people's hands, and what they might be hiding under their clothing. Each time Sara stopped beside a body, Les watched her back as if guarding her. Sara had warned her about death, and the fate she would face as a fighter, but this was totally unexpected. The only good thing Lestari could see with all this, was the fact they weren't picking up anybodies, just walking along, working would have been hard enough with the stench coming from the streets.
Lestari glanced sideways at Sara, they'd both heard from a few whispers from here and there, that something had happened at Cherry Tree Hill. While they didn't know what had happened, it made her wonder why anyone would even try doing something terrible to such a peaceful place. It unsettled Les, there was something very wrong and it made her skin tingle; she didn't like this one bit. “What do you think is happening? Or causing things to be this bad?” Was war finally coming knocking at their doorstep? Lestari sighed, she'd hoped to be a bit more knowledgeable in the art of fighting before things exploded.

Sara stopped and stood up, folding her cape fight around her arms. The restriction on her shoulders comforted her, she pretended it was Huang hugging her, reassuring her that everything was going to be okay. She would have killed to see him now, just to be in his presence would make her feel a lot better. She shook her head at Les, her eyes showing the confusion she felt in her heart.
"I do not know yet, whatever it is, it must be something pretty serious to provoke such a reaction. My guess is that one side decided to make a example of the other."
I just hope it was not us.
The conduit looked down the street, eyes focused towards the inn which was always open, even that was silent and cold. What was happening? She did not understand. She often had dreamed things like this and every night she preyed for it not to come true.
She was so worried, about everyone, about Jinayu, Yue, Huang, Van... Bataar too. Oh God, she had not even thought about Bataar, he was still so ill - he could not possibly be wondering around, he could not be in the thick of this surely? Then again the man was a Captain and never one to stay down when there was a fight to be had. She sighed and pushed the thoughts as far back as she could. Locking them up in the darkest corner of her mind.
She needed to be strong now, Les needed her to be strong. Her eyes went to look at the blue haired woman, she even forced a smile on her face.
"Everything will be fine, as long as we stay together. I am sure that someone will come to us with information. After all it won't be long before reinforcements from the Legion come. All we can do for now is save who we can... and try and defuse any more aggression before it really does turn into a blood bath."
She stated before kneeling down to observe the next man laid across the floor.
"But Les, if things get too dangerous I want you to run, run as fast as you can and hide in the forest. Find my Ger and wait there for me, don't let anything stop you, even for a second. Promise me Les."
She stated looking over her shoulder.
Another dead one...

Ya know, when life gives you lemons- Ok ok ok, lemons benefits no one but that's a given. Well.. maybe to help preserve the bodies. On the other hand coping does. Coping with the situation is always the hardest especially when coming back to something that was never a thought in your mind. Death. Having been gone for several months Eiji almost forgot what it was like to be home; and since coming home the memory still escapes him. This was not the home he had left. This was far from anything he'd imagine. A lot seemed to have happened since and he became to believe he rejoined the other inhabitants of Lunaria at a poor time. Not really knowing where to go the situation grew overwhelming. Left to roam in attempt to readjust himself with his surroundings he picked a familiar pastime of his to venture to first: the Ichi-Koi Inn and Bar. What he thought to gain from this was irrelevant but he grew to restless to stand idle. He had to move. Sumu on the other hand... Breaking from his typical lax appearance, Sumu had been acting unusually strange for quite some while as he constantly fidgeted upon Eiji's shoulder. It's as if he was having a hard time focusing. Eiji wasn't so dense to not realize something was wrong but he felt no warrant to check upon his feline friend, he already knew. .... I DIDN'T DO IT I SWEAR ....After not showing face for months and suddenly returning when the death of many occurs he could not help but make the claim, even though it was to himself. But in all seriousness the one word he was able to mutter out was a simple one. There really isn't anything to say is there? "s**t..."The body count was uncanny. Eiji had never seen the living to dead ratio be so out of sync. Walking down the streets he stopped and stared at a large pile of bodies. It's almost like people didn't care anymore and simply wanted to move the filth. When did the world become that? Just moving the dead because they are at an inconvenience to you? It was around this time that Eiji wished he wore shoes... cause you know... the dead is everywhere. Eiji turned to Sumu.. "You're lucky you damn cat...

Kiran rose back to his feet after checking on one of the bodies lying out in the street like a piece of trash. He had grown used to seeing death from fighting in the war. But this? He couldn't imagine who would something as horrible as this. With an ear fin always open for gossip, he had heard rumors of something happening at Cherry Tree Hill. But it sounded even more unbelievable than the sight facing him right now with bodies lining the street. What madness had taken over Lunaria?
Relief came over him with each body he looked over, relief that none of them bore the face of someone that he knew. Perhaps he was being insensitive in that manner, but he needed to keep some sort of distance between him and dead. He didn't know how he would ever keep going if one of these bodies turned out to be one of his family members or any of his friends. Kiran's fists clenched at his sides as he walked on to check on some of the other bodies. Whoever was doing this was working in such silence that not even he had picked up not a single piece of gossip or rumor to hint at who was behind it. How could no one have heard or seen anything with all the dead piling up in the street?
Kiran sighed. Checking out the bodies was getting him nowhere. The killer - or killers as it didn't seem likely to him that one person alone could commit this tragedy - acted like a ghost, killing without being seen or leaving any sort of evidence behind. He scratched his head, trying to think of what to do next. His attention strayed from yet another body on the ground at his feet when he heard a voice. He looked around to see a Lunarian speaking to a cat that rode upon the man's shoulder. Kiran didn't recognize the man, and upon looking him over, he noticed the man's lack of shoes. "You know, it's probably not wise to be walking around without shoes on," he called over to the man. One could never be too cautious at a time like this.

"Haha, I guess you're probably right... but who really needs shoes?" Never having met this man meant nothing as Eiji instinctively replied back with his usual nonsense. He looked down and wiggled his toes, he was never fond of the feeling of having his feet constricted. Their purpose was just, but they are not for everyone. Of course he'd wear them if he had too. "I never really came across a situation where I regretted not having them. So why change now?" He rambled on with a few short laughs following. Though, the presence of the new man seemed to have calmed Sumu some, allowing him to focus on one particular thing over trying to absorb the chaos. With perked head and ears, emerald eyes grew fixed to the lunarian. "Well since you're here-" Eiji started to speak again before crouching down next to another corpse, checking to see if it was alive. Why should he even bother though? It's not like he particular cares. Given he's upset about all of this but he could not have done anything to have prevented it. "...well.... Nah, nevermind." He figured he'd ask the new face if he happened to know what exactly went on but decided against it; figured it wasn't his place to ask.

“Or one side did something bad enough for the repercussions to vibrate right back into society.” Now that was a scary thought, that something so big could have caused this. Lestari's eyes moved from one face to the other, observing the emotions playing before her. Everyone was trying to avoid looking at the bodies, and everyone went on about their business. They should look, she thought silently, look and learn from our mistakes. She knew no one was going to ever blame themselves for the mess, everyone was guilty.
Lestari returned the smile, “I wasn't about to leave you alone, we have no idea who to trust in these streets.” No idea on how to tell who was Legion and who was Noble. “Dangerous.” she quietly murmured. Les stopped beside Sara as she inspected yet another dead, how many were they going to check? She was pretty sure the ones lying down in the streets were very much all dead. They'd be safer trying to help those who were clearly already injured, they'd probably be in a nice infirmary somewhere too. Though Saras next words made her turn around and stare at her, she couldn't be serious?
“Are you kidding me? You want me to leave you here while I run off into the woods while you may or may not be getting stabbed?” Lestari didn't like running, too much work for her, but it was leaving Sara behind, especially with the tone she's used, that scared her the most. There was no way she could refuse her, she had to promise, Les wouldn't be that much help to her. “Alright, I promise.” Though she hated to admit it, it was nice having someone to look up to as a big sister. Citra was the exception of course, because she was her brothers wife and was always nice to her without fault.
Once Sara had finished checking the corpse for a sign of life, they were off again, checking for more bodies. “How long are we going to be out on main street for?” Lestari turned to Sara. “I don't think I need to say how dang-” Les had walked right into someone, she stumbled back again and turned towards the orange haired Lunarian. “Sorry about that.” The guy had a cat on his shoulder, and Lestari starred at it curiously.

Kiran shrugged, rolling one shoulder at the question. "Well, some people find them useful," he replied. He didn't care to step on something that might slice open his foot. But if the man usually wandered about without shoes on, Kiran guessed that he probably didn't have much trouble avoiding sharp items lying about the ground. He crossed the street, walking over to the other man so that they wouldn't have to call over the distance at each other.
"What's your cat's name?" Kiran asked curiously as he held out a hand toward the cat. But he didn't dare to pet the cat just yet. Working around the falcons in his father's mew, he knew to be cautious when introducing himself to a new animal. Some of the falcons could react rather violently if not handled properly. He then realized that he hadn't even bothered to introduce himself or learn the other man's name. "I'm Kiran."
He lifted an eyebrow as the man started speaking. Another corpse was sprawled out on the ground. He sighed, wishing there was some answer to why all these murders were happening. "I think I've checked out a dozen or so of these bodies," he said as his eyes roamed over the one before them on the ground. He wish that even one of them was found alive. "I haven't found any rhyme or reason to these murders. If someone is sending a message, I'm not liking it." He couldn't even be sure what side of the war this murderer was on.

"Hm? Oh. This guy's named Sumu. He's a little pain in the a** but he's ok for a cat, haha." Eiji toyed and poked only to be given an agitated meow in return. To him Sumu was more then just a pet, but it wasn't really relevant to the events happening so he felt no need to elaborate. Besides, he's not one to bring up background information on the whim. Sumu watched the approaching hand for a few moments before investigating further, pressing off Eiji's shoulder, and lightly sniffed the hand. His eyes flicked between the mans face to his hand several times before deeming him not a threat. Rubbing his cheek and head against the lunarians hand the two found out his name. So the mans name was Kiran. Eiji hadn't even thought about introducing himself prior, he felt no immediate need too, but since the man revealed his name Eiji wouldn't be so rude as to ignore. "I'm Eiji!" He rather happily remarked, pressing his hands against his knees, coughing all proud. Eiji inspected another body before Kiran spoke again, "Oh? Damn... I still can't believe there's so many of them.. It's almost like they're dividing themselves," he replied as he scanned the horrible and depressing sight. Someone could be sending a message? The possibility hadn't even crossed his mind that there could have been a reason worth all this for. Whomever is in charge must have been satisfied by now. How many more lunarians must die for a point or message to get across? "Well the mastermind behind all this I'm be-
-Uhnf!Almost falling over but prevented it, Eiji was cutoff mid sentence as he felt someone walk into him. The sudden jump startled Sumu, who resulted in jumping off Eiji's shoulder and onto the ground. His head swung around to see what happened shortly after. All Eiji voiced was a grunt but in his mind he was thinking something along the lines of Uwhaaaaat!?! Who, what, holy!? I'm gonna die! Sumu you a**, you're supposed to alert me of these things!! and a few other statements, mostly involving Sumu and death. Turning around, not quite in a panic but, in some sort of sudden surprise he found it to be a blue haired lunarian. "Oh, it's just you. Haha you. Yoooooou. Hahahahaha," he was relieved it was just someone normal, despite never meeting her before, and not a murder... or a zombie. Ok yeah, this situation just lost all seriousness. As if he was scared or anything. Bah! Him? Scared? Nah. No way. "No worries." Eiji replied as he cracked his shoulder before bouncing himself up to his feet, perching his arm out so Sumu could climb back on. "I would have gotten out of your way if somebody-," shooting a glare at Sumu, "-told me someone was coming close." Sumu replied with an innocent meow.

Legend of Lunaria Captain
|
Posted: Wed Nov 16, 2011 9:08 pm
A figure walks alone through the crowded streets of Lunaria, stricken by a tenseness so thick it is nearly palpable. Hair covered by a veil of cloth, face shrouded in shadows, she makes her way silently through the throngs of Lunarians.
She is not noticed by anyone in particular, though she seems to be walking towards the Ichi-Koi Inn and Bar. Halfway there, however, she stops.
Is she waiting for something? Or perhaps someone?
[ OOC: You can see this person, but she's just another person in the crowd. There should be nothing special about her. ]

"Sumu, hm?" Kiran smiled as he watched the cat sniff at his hand. When Sumu rubbed against his hand, Kiran gave him a little scratch behind an ear then down around the chin before withdrawing his hand. The cat didn't seem like a "pain in the a**" to him, but maybe that was something one only noticed after prolonged experience with Sumu.
"It's nice to meet you, Eiji," Kiran said with a bob of his head. "Though the circumstances are little to be desired." He scratched awkwardly at the back of his head. He would have preferred to greet a new Lunarian without all of the death lingering in the street.
His gaze drifted down the street then up the street then settled back on Eiji. "It's too many," he mumbled, finding it hard to digest all that he saw. Why would anyone do something like this? What point were they trying to make to the world? "I can't believe there wasn't someone who saw something. There's just-" He shook his head. No one could have pulled this off without leaving some evidence behind.
A mastermind? But who? Kiran couldn't think of anyone that could orchestrate something like this. But what if this mastermind had been lurking in the shadows waiting the perfect moment - for this moment - to unleash his plan, whatever it may be? If that were the case, then thinking about the usual suspects would be pointless.
He jerked out of his quiet thoughts as a blue haired Lunarian bumped into Eiji. His attention had been elsewhere, and before he could react, he watched the resulting incident. "Are you both okay?" he blurted out without much thinking. It didn't look the encounter had caused harm to either one of them. He glanced at the blue haired Lunarian, but he didn't recognize her anymore than he did Eiji upon first meeting him.

"I will be fine - if so it won't be the first time I have been stabbed. Besides... I can not leave until I find someone. I would prefer to know that you are safe, one day it will be your duty to sort out mess's like this but for now... your duty is to me." She stated, in-fact there was a lot of people she needed to find and she refused to sleep until she knew if they were all safe, until she knew what had become of them. She held her hand to her chest once more, curling her fingers to hold the stands which tied her cape to her shoulders, she was fighting, trying to distract herself from the carnage around her.
When Les asked her how long she intended to say, she would have said indefinitely but instead she replies with more sense.. "We need to check them all, my students will help the ones who had strength to escape. However we need to save the ones who are on deaths door, even if they show the faintest signs of life, they can be saved and it is my duty to save them." She stated with a small smile, it was days like these that she really hated her job. She could cope with bodies but this... this made her heart bleed. Even though she was a woman who lives with death every day, this made her uncomfortable... this scared her.
She knew that more trouble was only to come.
When Les was about to walk into someone she tried to grab her but it was too late. The man's reaction made her step back a little, it had surprised her and for a moment distracted her from a familiar face which was nearby...
"Kiran...?"
She mumbled, she had last seen him at the wedding. This was however the first time she had come across him since her promotion. She was so happy to see him, so happy to see that someone had made it.
She rushed forward, wrapping her arms around his shoulders and hugging him tight. She was just so happy to see a familiar face, it did not matter that they were not as close as she would have liked them to be. He was here and that fact alone made her want to cry, it was one less face she would have to look for when checking the dead. "Kiran, your safe thank goodness." She whispered biting her lip and letting go of him. They were not Huang's arms, but they offered her a little comfort.
Her next question came out on instinct. "Tell me, have you seen Yue? Have you seen anyone?" She hoped, please spirits, let them be okay too.
