Dela had managed to climb up onto a chair in the nursery and was now surveying the area, sitting daintily upon her perch with her tail wrapped around her paws as best she could. If there was one thing she wished she had inherited from her mother, it was that wonderfully long tail of hers. As it was, her tail only went part way around her little paws, but for now it would have to do.
'Chin up, chest out...' Dela thought to herself, trying to mimic the posture of her proud father as she looked down upon the area. She was almost the spitting image of him.
She raised one eyebrow as she looked over to the far side of the nursery, where she had been unable to see from the ground. She could see at least one other pup over there, one she had never seen before. Her siblings were off somewhere else, and besides that it looked nothing like them. How odd.
Dela simply watched the other pup out of the corner of her eye, trying not to seem too interested. No, she was too busy being regal right now.

Jak had basically just been minding his business. Since going to his new owner and being fed more than just the usual puppy slop they served here at the nursery (where he was currently stuck thanks to his numerous disappearing acts since the start of his life on a leash), he'd grown quite a bit in size. Not so much that one would think he wasn't a puppy anymore, but he wasn't as small and pudgy as before. He was more interested in the toy that Andi handed him earlier that morning that anything else, but at some point he felt someone eyes on him and he shifted uncomfortably where he was.
Still, the slate pup tried to go on about his business up until he decided he couldn't stand the eyes on him anymore. He wasn't upset or anything, just curious as to who could possibly be watching him. Jak stook and looked around, catching sight of an eerily familiar brown coat lying atop a chair that was left inside the nursery. He quirked a brow and, toy forgotten (it was mostly chewed up now anyway), made his way over.
"Did you need something?" he called up at whoever it was.

Aha, the other pup had noticed her. Perfect. Dela sat as still as she could, waiting to see if he would come over. It wasn't too long before he did. She glanced down at him as he approached, trying her best to look like a queen upon her throne.
"Well, I could use a bit of company I suppose." She said with a rather dramatic sigh. "That is, if you're not one of the common riffraff. I try to only spend time with mokai that are of high status, you see." She eyed his collar with a combination of approval and jealousy. Why did he have one that was so nice while she was stuck with this leather one? She'd have to discuss that with daddy the next time she saw him.
"Hm, I suppose you'll do." She nodded, "My name is Dela, what is yours?" She stood up and hopped down from the chair, landing rather clumsily but trying her best to act poised while doing so. It wasn't like this one could do any better, after all.

He narrowed his eyes slightly at her reply, getting a sort of vibe from her that he had yet to come across with all the mokai he'd met, and for his age he'd met quite a few already (though most of them were the mokai that Andi's father owned or was taking care of for a client). Something about it just left a sour taste in his mouth, but it was too soon to tell whether he could put up with her seemingly high-and-mighty attitude or not, so he simply brushed it off and tried to keep to his manners.
"Jak," he answered simply, choosing to just ignore her comments about "common riffraff" and all the other nonsense that came out of her mouth; nonsense to him, anyhow. He honestly didn't care all that much about mokai's status. Whether they were from a rich home, poor home, anywhere in between, it didn't really matter. He was willing to be friends with just about any mokai at this point, though that was because he had yet to meet one that he particularly disliked.
The older pup watched her hop down from the chair and smirked when she tried to look graceful and poised despite her clumsy landing, taking a seat as she approached. "So what did you have in mind for a game?" he asked, tail swaying slowly behind him. He wouldn't admit it, but he was looking forward to playing with another pup. It'd been a while since the last time, after all.

"Hmmmm, Jak..." Dela tested the name, staring off for a moment as she did so before nodding and looking back to him. "Yes, that's a good name. I think you will make a good playmate." She nodded again and then considered his question. What kind of game did she want to play? Hmmm...
"As you may know, my father is a distinguished fighter. Perhaps we could have a play-fight, so that I can practice to continue his legacy." She thought about it for a moment, "What about your parents? What do they do?" Part of her was curious because of the status implications, but part of her just wanted to know if she was going to be practicing with anyone worth her time. If this was a child of some pearl divers or pets, he probably wouldn't be much of a match for her.
Still, he was slightly larger than her. She assumed he must be a bit older, since she was the largest and oldest of her siblings. He would be a worthy opponent, she assumed.

It was a bit odd, the way she was talking as if she was mokai of the royal variety, but Jak pushed the quirk aside. Maybe it was just the way her parents or two-leggers talked? It was a little amusing, actually, so he sat back and stayed quiet until she decided to show a bit more interest in him as company as opposed to comparing him against her own "royal" hiney. At least, that was how he saw it.
At the mention of her father, he raised a brow. Part of him had an inkling of just who her father was, but he really wasn't entirely sure. There were probably plenty of black and brown mokai wandering around, so unless she told him there was no way to be sure. "Who's your father again?" he asked, then quieted again when she posed a question at him.
Who were his parents? At the thought of his strong lineage, Jak puffed up and let a tinge of pride color his voice. "They're both fighters," he answered.

Dela huffed. Shouldn't it be obvious who her father was? Oh well, at least this way she got to brag about him.
"My father is Imnir, the greatest fighter in the compound." She said with a look of pride, "Surely you've heard of him? Don't you see the resemblance?" She batted her eyelashes at him and did a couple of catwalk-type turns to show off her fur. "I've been told that I look just like him, do you think so?" She giggled, "I'm honored, personally."
Oh, both of his parents were fighters too? Excellent, this would be a good 'match' once they started 'fighting'. "That's good. I wouldn't want to beat you too badly if you were the son of some pets or something like that. Good to know that I won't have to go easy on you."

Jak simply nodded when she confirmed his suspicions. He hadn't seen Imnir since they first met, so there wasn't any way of knowing that he had pups of his own running around now. "I've met him once before," he said with a rather passive shrug. "He was nice I guess, but he hasn't pulled through with a promise he made me yet." And that was certainly true, but then again, he hadn't gone in search for the older mokai to take him up on his offer either. She didn't need to know that though.
His brows knitted together and he glared slightly at the younger pup, slightly offended by her statement. From the sound of it, she seemed pretty confident in the idea that she could beat him in a "fight". "As if I'd just let you win, even if I was the son of a pet or cull," he snorted, standing on all fours now to as much as his height would allow. He was still older, which of course meant he a bit bigger than her as well, so he stood nearly a head taller than her.

Dela frowned and tilted her head, "He made a promise and didn't keep it? That doesn't sound like daddy at all." She huffed, "He always keeps his promises!" She insisted, "I'm sure he will do it soon. I can remind him if you want!" It didn't really matter what he said, she was going to anyway. She couldn't have anyone thinking that her father was a mokai who didn't keep his word.
She looked up at him slightly as he stood. He was a bit bigger than she thought at first, but that didn't matter to her. She already said that she wanted to play fight with him, so that's what she was planning to do. Besides, she knew that neither of them could get hurt that bad without the humans doing something about it.
"Well if you just let me win it wouldn't be a real fight." Dela laughed, "And it wouldn't be any fun! Come on then, let's wrestle!" She gave a tiny growl and pounced on him, deciding that since he had the size advantage she ought to take the element of surprise as her own. Fair is fair, right?

"No need to remind him," he said with a small shrug. "I'll take care of it myself. It's nothing serious anyway." And that was true enough; Imnir only promised to take him exploring, but now that Imnir had pups of his own Jak doubted that the larger mokai would still give him the time of day.
At the word "wrestle" Jak braced himself for some kind of attack. Her surprise attack wasn't all that surprising, considering he had Nefertari for a sister and was used to them. Her aim was pretty dead on though, and Jak fell back into her tackle and landed with a light 'oomph' on the floor. At first he tried to get his paws in a position where he could push her off of him, but when that didn't work he instead tried to roll over to pin her down.
