Things were going well for he and his daughter now that he had brought the stranger back to live with them. Johannes had saved his life, and he had owed him the chance at a family. He was happy that Fievre was as taken with him as she was. He hoped that it meant he'd get little grandpups running around though he wasn't going to share that with anyone. He loved pups, but the only one he had ever been close to was Fievre herself.

His belly was rumbling, and he had decided to hunt down a meal. He was still in his territory, but he didn't guard it as adamanlty as others might. Others were free to hunt and go as they pleased, it was when they stayed that he would grow angry and chase them off. Everyone deserved to eat after all.

He used his nose to scent out the prey, sniffing the wind as it blew past. There were a few choice for him today and that made him smile. Living in an area were prey was plentiful was just pleasant, and one thing he didn't have to worry about when thinking about his life.

He was too busy smelling the prey to smell another canine in the area. He smiled when he saw the calf stray. The mothers werent as cautious here, as he only took what he needed and lions never really strayed here. He felt his muscles tense and he lunged.

The smell of the wildebeest calf clung to his nose and he felt his mouth salivating without having the meat in his maw. He would maybe surprise his Fievre with dinner if she and Johannes were about. They were good at dissappearing among the lands and since the place was so vast, he really had no way of catching them whenever he wanted.

The calf gave chase once it saw the hyena at his heels. It wasn't the quickest of creatures but he was no lion. He couldnt exactly knock the calfs hooves out from under it. So he was left snapping at its heels, hoping to catch it before the mother caught on.

Hunting with a partner was never on his list of things to do. Not that he didn't want to, but he just hadn't ever done it. His ward Fievre didn't hunt for herself, not if he could help it. He wanted to make sure that she was well taken care of, and she was his princess. He only hoped that Johannes treated her the same way, with the same care and dedication the adopted father had taken. He was okay with sharing, and so he didn't take her running along side him as competition. Instead, he nodded to her with a smile in understanding. He hoped she understood he was unwilling to take the meal from her completely.

She tripped the calf with precision, and he felt himself smiling. She was quite crafty. Though he didn't have much time to think of it as he dove at the calf as soon as it tripped. His jaws found its neck before it could try to spring back to its feet, and he clamped down to cut off its airway. It gasped, kicking its hooves in a desperate attempt to free itself from death. But it was in vain, and after a few moments the calf stopped fighting him, and gave in to the sweet, sweet death he offered. When he released his jaws, he looked at the calf.
"Rest well, young one." He whispered to it. He hated killing others, but he did it to survive.

"You are quite skilled there." He commented, looking up at the pretty hyena gal.

Once the calf's throat was released he made sure to stand quickly, and motion with his paw to it.
"I'm more than willing to share with such a competent hunter." He responded, bowing his head. He could still taste the metallic crimson on his tongue, and his belly rumbled. But he was in no hurry, and this meal wasn't to bring back to Fievre' and her companion. No, this meal had been for him.

"I do not think I could eat all of the calf if I tried. I'm watching my weight you see." He added as a joke, but then blushed and cleared his throat. Wow had it really been so long since he had been in the presence of another that he would say something quite as lame as that? Apparently it had.

"It's been awhile since I hunted with another. It was exhilerating. What is your name?" He asked, sitting on his haunches as the blood matted along his muzzle.

He was a little odd.. Years of living alone with the loss of his mate, had made him a bit awkward to say the least. Even though he was as social as a butterfly, he was very..off. He sighed, she probably thought him nuts. But he didn't let the doubt touch his face. He smiled again, bowing his head respectfully.

"I don't know what kind of male that I would be, if I didn't share a meal with a lovely female. You see, my mother did raise me with manners." He chuckled. He was a bit of an old fashioned soul.. And he supposed that put him behind the times.

He took a bite, chewing and swallowing the flesh easily. He found her looking at him, and once he swallowed he smiled again. He wondered why it was she watched him so intently. But he was happy to have company so he wasn't about to call her out by asking.

"I am Boracio." He said with a dip of his head. "It's a pleasure to meet you."

If she had asked about his parents, she might have found herself disappointed. He had no idea who his parents were, or what they were like. He had been lost as a pup, or at least, he thought he had been lost. He may have been abandoned, but he didn't like to think of it that way..

"Then you are silly. I think you are beautiful. You have all the colors of a rainbow. How is that not something special?" He asked with a lighthearted chuckle. He wasn't trying to make her uncomfortable, and he hoepd he wasn't. But he was a gentleman, and he liked complimenting.

"Hunting is rather amusing, that is for sure. I can imagine it must be difficult for you!" He responded, and nodded. He was sure she had a lot of obstacles she had to overcome. But that made her all the more beautiful to him.

His face looked worried for a moment, hearing her choke on a peace of the kill. He had hoped he hadn't offended her, but when she cleared her throat and stared at him for a moment, it was like time stopped. He waited for her to say something for a moment, and he blushed sheepishly.

"I'm sorry that no one has told you before. Tis a shame." He said, and shook his head with a tsk tsk noise. He took another bite, chewing thoughtfully before swallowing and looking at her again. "Well thank you. We will agree to disagree." He said, and grinned, obviously joking with her.

"Cunning is good! Cunning can go a long way. My daughter, she is rather brightly hued too. She uses her wit. I imagine it's the same for you. I have great respect for those of you who work harder and achieve more than others like us." He chuckled.

When she laughed, he felt the laughter was contagious and a bashful smile appeared over his maw as he looked at his paws. He wasn't a confident male, as he might have been giving the vibe of. No, he usually was pretty humble at best. But he was .. comfortable around her. He had no need to impress, as he just felt the need to be himself.

"Oh, no." He smiled. "I have no mate. Probably for the blandness of my coat I imagine." He grinned. He realized that that sounded weird, and he cleared his throat.
"My daughter, she is more like my ward. I found her as a pup, and couldn't leave her behind. She's grown into a fine young lady." He said with a proud puff of his chest.
