User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Name: Dustin Harlow

Nickname: Dusty (usually reciprocated with a “******** you”)

Age: 18

Birthday: February 22

Sign: Pisces

Gemstone: Amethyst

Blood Type: O

Fav. Food: Most ethnic foods, but he loves just about anything.

Hated Food: Vegetarian cuisine, but is not opposed to a vegetables themselves.

School: None. Works a few odd jobs or minimum-wage jobs, never lasting very long.

Hobbies:

DJing. Dustin spends a lot of time listening to music, and often toys around with the sounds through various DJing or audo-mixing applications on his laptop. He has a very good ear for music and is quite talented at this. He has played for several house or apartment parties with his laptop plugged into speakers. Although he receives a lot of compliments and is told that he should pursue a career in this, he doesn’t believe that success is in his cards, so does not make a profession out of it.

Urban Exploring. Destiny City is a fascinating city with strange going-ons around the town, and abandoned districts from various mysterious activities that have taken place. Dustin is fascinated by all of the various abandoned and hidden treasures the city has to offer, and seeks to explore them. He often carries spray-paint with him, and would leave behind a small graffiti tag claiming that he “wuz” there.

The Internet. Dustin spends a lot of time on the internet. Whether he is trolling an Internet forum, laughing at GIFs, or playing online games, Dustin likes to do it all.

Going Out. Simply put, Dustin likes to do s**t. He rolls with whatever is going on with a group, but prefers to do more adventurous activities that make a good story or interesting experience. Whether its partying, trying a new restaurant or seeing a new movie, Dustin is glad to do it as long as he can afford it.

Virtues:

Bold. Dustin has a strong presence in a room. He’s outspoken, speaks his mind, starts up conversation and does not shy away from confrontation. He is happy to be the one to speak up or do something when nobody else is going to, and is not afraid of what consequences may result. In fact, he’s eager to see what those consequences are so that he may retaliate against them. This behavior lends him some credibility as a leader from time to time, whether its a social gathering or an argument, although he is reluctant to view himself in such a manner.

Independent. Dustin doesn’t need you. His happiness is not dependent on others. He does not need your approval, your pity, or your help. He prefers to do things on his own, having more trust in his own capabilities than in the capabilities of others, whether the task ahead is simple or complicated. While his life frequently is in shambles, he'd rather make things happen for himself through his own might and effort than relying on the support of other people.

Quick-Witted. Dustin is quick on his feet. This is most apparent in his sense of humor, albeit typically lined with insults, but can also be seen in his actions and more civil conversations. He is quick to think of a way out of trouble or a solution to a problem, able to process information and come to a decent result at strong speeds.

Nonchalant. Dustin appears level-headed and cool in most situations. Even in his most aggressive or emotional instances, he still carries a calm-headed air around him. When emotional or going though difficult times, he is able to present calmness in his actions. That isn’t to say he doesn’t act based on his emotions – but his actions are most guided by what pleases him more than other emotions such as sadness or anger.

Flaws:

Insensitive. Dustin tells it how it is – or how he thinks it is. It doesn’t matter how appropriate the comment is. This isn’t just being blunt in his responses to questions – he’d share his opinion even when uninvited. He’d introduce himself to others with an insult if he takes issue with your appearance, and won’t lay up on the rudeness if he knows that it is bothering the other person. In fact, that would just encourage him. He finds there are few people who he can actually tolerate, and these sorts of decisions are made in snap-judgments. He would be less likely to insult these people right off the bat, but would still dish out petty jabs without hesitation.

Hedonist. The top priority in Dustin’s life is whatever Dustin wants to do – whatever will make him happy. While in a group this can lead to fun times and fun memories, it can also lead to dangerous experiences. Dustin is not just reckless, he is dangerous with the way he treats his own body and others. He is open to trying all sorts of experiences, no matter how dangerous, and can be very physical or violent with others if it pleases him. He isn’t great at fighting and isn’t very strong, so this usually results in getting his a**-kicked.

Cynical. Dustin is one to assume the worst about the future. This isn’t to say that he would analyze how events may unfold, examine the risks and then avoid doing the task. If it pleases him, he will absolutely still do whatever he wants. But his defense for putting himself and others at harm is that it doesn’t matter what happens to them – everyone will die eventually, and that is all there is to life. He assumes the worst in others, which makes him very untrusting of people regardless of how close they may be to him. He doesn’t necessarily think they are out to harm him, but believes that a person’s flaws are their true colors, and their positive attributes are simply disguises.

Lost. Dustin has no idea what his purpose in life is or what he wants out of life. Dustin is rude, hedonistic and cynical, but those type of characteristics don’t fly so well in the real world. He finds it difficult to hold any job – or get a job, for that matter – and he struggles to adjust to the real world. He appears to need guidance from others or aide in balancing his life, but is either too reluctant to accept help or his personality deters people from offering it. He wishes to find happiness just as much as the next person – and he would admit to desiring such – but he doesn’t believe that there is happiness for him to find in this world.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Eyes: Green.

Hair: Dark, midnight blue - dyed hair. Originally black. Style is a modern quiff, often wears a banana headband (like this).

Face: Strong, sharp features. Thin face. Strong cheekbones.

Clothes: Grungy, somewhat punk. A 'rebellious' rich teen.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Senshi: Typhon, Corrupted Senshi of Hurricanes

Challenge: Blow this.

Fuku Colour: Black Bodice / CC
Main Color: Greyish-Blue / CC
Secondary Color: Dark Grey / CC

Fuku: CC design. Simple, masculine, but storm-torn.

Attacks:

Sailor Scout Attack: Typhon Cyclone!
  • How it Works. Typhon raises up his arms and gives this shout, summoning a small hurricane to formulate around his body. The hurricane is a strong windstorm spiraling around him. The strong force of the winds – at 80 mph, Category 1 hurricane strength – are able to knock back an opponent, tossing them a few feet away. It acts as a buffer around Typhon. This can cause havoc to his surroundings, as anything he is close to also would be impacted by the strong winds.
  • Range. 3-foot radius around Typhon.
  • Duration. 15 seconds.
  • Damage Summary. The attack does no damage on its own, but the damage from being thrown away from the gust of 80mph winds can do some harm.
  • Weaknesses. Just as his enemies cannot reach him, he cannot reach his targets, as they would be blown away before he can reach them. Furthermore, if an opponent avoids Typhon at all costs and stays completely out of the storm, they would be unaffected other than possibly being hit by objects in the surrounding being tossed around by the wind. Of course, Typhon has no way of aiming the direction of these objects.
  • Frequency of Usage. Typhon may use this power once a battle.

Super Sailor Scout Attack: Typhon Cyclone Power Up!
  • How it Works. Typhon raises up his arms and gives this shout, summoning a small hurricane to formulate around his body. The hurricane is a strong windstorm spiraling around him. The strong force of the winds – at 100 mph, Category 2 hurricane strength – are able to knock back an opponent, tossing them a few feet away. It acts as a buffer around Typhon. This can cause havoc to his surroundings, as anything he is close to also would be impacted by the strong winds. In addition to the strong winds, when the power is first activate there is a surge of water that stretches out an additional three feet (total of nine foot radius). Anything in range would be soaked and while the initial splash may knock down foes, it otherwise does not deal direct damage to his opponent.
  • Range. 6-foot radius around Typhon for winds; 9-foot radius for water.
  • Duration. 20 seconds.
  • Damage Summary. The damage from being blown back by the gusts of 100mph winds can do some harm and the water may knock down targets.

Eternal Sailor Attack: Typhon Hurricane!
  • How it Works. Typhon spreads out his arms and gives this shout. A category three hurricane (with wind gusts of 120mph) forms around Sailor Typhon, growing rapidly in size beginning at three feet and reaching fifteen feet by the end of its ten second duration. In addition to the strong winds, a surge of water is pushed forth as the storm expands, sweeping and soaking the floor as the storm grows and resulting in a blast of water expanding an additional five feet that may knock foes down.
  • Range. Grows rapidly into a 15-foot radius around Typhon, starting at a 3-foot radius. Ends with an additional 5 foot radius (starting at 15-foot distance, ranging 20-feet) blast of water.
  • Duration. 10 seconds.
  • Damage Summary. The damage from being blown back by the gusts of 120mph winds can do some harm and the water may knock down targets.
  • Weaknesses. This power leaves Typhon rather exhausted.
  • Frequency of Usage. Typhon may use this power once a battle.

NOTE ABOUT MEMORIES AND IDENTITY: Dustin will awaken as Sailor Typhon and very shortly after be corrupted into the Negaverse. During this corruption he will lose his former civilian identity but retain all memories of his civilian life. He will have learned nothing of any value in his powered life prior to corruption. Note that this form covers his intended civilian identity post-corruption.

Civilian~

I'm gonna keep this short and sweet XD

Hobbies look great!

Virtues and Flaws are good too. No issues so far!

-----

Powered~

Now onto the good stuff. >>"

1. I love this sphere
2. The name is perfect
3. You have zero mention of what his fuku is going to look like and I'm supposed to crit that too. Is it CC?

I know you were concerned that his attacks would be OP, but I think considering the sphere and the limitations you've put on it it should be just fine. I personally can't think of any other way to tone it down or it just wouldn't be a Senshi of Hurricanes. There's ways to avoid it, there's short durations, and none of it will kill anyone.

However, I think 5 seconds for his Eternal attack is way too short.

Added information about fuku colors and design, all CC mostly.

Adjusted duration of Eternal attack from 5 seconds to 10 seconds.

Hi Spy! I see you have a trial stamp and that's really awesome -- Dustin will be a great addition to the shop. Congrats on getting a Natsu slot, too!

I wanted to stick my head in and be nosy, because Dustin's sphere caught my eye. I have lived in/around/near hurricanes all my life, just two hours away from New Orleans. That said, I have some crit to offer on his attacks:

Lighting during a hurricane is rare. So rare, that notable levels have only been recorded during one season by three hurricanes under specific conditions, so I was curious as to why it was an element to Typhon's attacks instead of, say, water. I actually had to look it up, because I hadn't seen lighting during hurricanes before. Normally, it is because of the wind sheer (horizontal as opposed to vertical) that prevents most incidents of lightning.
http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/hurricanes/archives/2006/hurricane_lightning.html
http://www.lightningsfety.com/nlsi_info/thunder.html

Even then, when powerful lightning does occur, it's in the eyewall or the area directly around the eye. Which is where Typhon is, so that might be awkward?

From a purely personal experience standpoint, no one's particularly worried about being electrocuted during a hurricane. We're all boarding things up and hoping the wind doesn't punch a tree through the roof, followed quickly by the sideways death rain and torrential flooding. I really love how much collateral damage and the sudden power of the wind is addressed (ie: being touched by the storm around him sends them flying) in Typhon's attacks.

I still think lightning would be viable in this sphere, given the new research, but moreso in line with what that research represents. Or perhaps the opponent is shocked if they are caught in the eye with him?

Hey Spy, Dustin looks like a great character! And I love his art, very super cool.

I'd like to echo Aqua though about the powers. When I think of hurricanes I think of wind and water most often. Is there a reason you haven't included any water in his attack? I think it'd almost make more sense for someone to get pushed back and drenched then pushed back and shocked. Or even for water to be left after the fact that leaves the area slick for when they try to approach him again.

Also, while I know why you choose the wind speeds you did to correspond with the hurricane scales, I think it's a bit too much. The force of wind you're talking about is enough to uproot trees and destroy buildings which could do some really horrific things to a person's body even if they are super powered. Especially if you start to add in collateral damage and affecting outside things.. imagine the damage a rock picked up by the wind and chucked at someone at 115 mph could do.

Iris_virus

Hey Iris! I've made the following changes:

~ Lowered the Scout usage to one usage per battle.
~ Lowered the Super strength from Category 3 (115mph winds) to Category 2 (100mph winds).
~ Removed electricity from Super, replaced with a surge of water.
~ Lowered the Eternal strength from Category 5 (160mph winds) to Category 3 (120mph winds).
~ Removed electricity from Eternal, replaced with a surge of water.
~ Reworded Eternal ability for more clarity on its usage.

Hurricanes are first and foremost a windstorm, so I do want the abilities to have a greater wind focus. They are also defined as cyclonic thunderstorms, which is why I had the electricity initially (unaware that the electricity is normally just at the eye), but replaced with water. Water is typically associated with hurricanes since they stem from the ocean and push the water from the ocean onto the land due to their powerful wind speeds.
