Candace was delighted. She got to take Circe out for a walk! But just having her in her desummoned form wasn't enough. She wanted the scythe. Could she summon her? Hmm! She'd have to figure that out eventually. It was a shame she couldn't hear anything Circe could possibly be saying...her head was oddly silent for once save for her own thoughts. Weird. Eh, Atropos must have been pouting.

"Hmmm~. What to do with you, my pretty little thing. Is there anything you want to do? Ohhh I wish I could hear you." Was there a distance limit to how far a weapon was before its wielder could no longer hear it? It was almost tempting to text Caelius and ask.

Luckily she thought better of this stupid as hell question.

Jordan paused on his way across the field. He'd heard someone; but that someone was very clearly not talking to him. Probably talking to their weapon. He'd learned by now to mostly ignore the occasional non sequitur or one-sided conversation. The voice was familiar, though, and he glanced back to see who it was.

Candace? That was a bit of a surprise. Some of the trainees were more prone to absently voicing their conversations with their weapons out loud, but he hadn't noted Candace as being one of them. Most of the time, if she was talking to Atropos, she seemed to do it mentally, but now she was speaking aloud to nobody visible.

It really wasn't any of his business, but it'd be rude not to greet her. "Hey," he said, and waved.

Circe's floating eye shimmered and shined but she didn't do much else. Candace blinked. Was she..talking to her somehow? Maybe. Maybe not. Candace would just say she was. "It wouldn't be any fun if I just walk around with you. You're too beautiful not to be used as you were made to be." She crooned to the desummoned weapon floating above the palm of her hand. There was a snarl in the back of her head, one she gleefully ignored.

She heard Jordan's voice shortly after that and turned on her heel to face him, being careful not to drop Circe. "Oh. Hey, Steaksauce. Fancy seeing you here." And by himself! He usually had a pretty little entourage! "You out for a walk too?"
PostPosted: Thu Nov 10, 2011 10:39 pm

Definitely sounding a little odd. Huh. Steaksauce? Right, A-1. Jordan's smile was slightly strained. "Something like that," he answered. "Decided I'd come out for a while, maybe take a run around the perimeter."

What, you're not going to ask if she wants to come along, Mr. Gregarious?

I don't really feel like company, Jordan answered.

Dodging the question, Ferros said gleefully. You just don't like her.

I don't have a reason not to like her. Shut up, would you? "Nice day for a walk, right?" Jordan said aloud, dryly, making a vague gesture to indicate the ever-present mist and overcast.

Heh. That smile. He was not pleased. Candace's grin was unwavering even as she made a noise of understanding. A run did sound good but that was not something she'd do with Circe. No way.

"Hmm, I suppose! I wasn't sure what I was going to do with my day, but Caelius gave me permission to take Circe out for a walk." Or rather he just wanted Candace to leave and decided to just let her take the scythe with her for whatever reason. "She's kinda cute like this, huh?" Candace cooed to the floating eye for a moment, even petting at her with the tips of her fingers. Her rings flared with an almost blinding purple light before dulling until all the glow was gone entirely. Atropos was not happy.
PostPosted: Thu Nov 10, 2011 11:15 pm

... Yes, he really had heard that right. Jordan took a step back, eyes widening. "What? But - your weapon - why - " He was vaguely aware that he sounded pretty stupid at the moment, but the sheer shock of realizing just what it was that accompanied Candace had blanked his mind. Why would she want to carry a weapon other than her own? What was Atropos thinking? Why had Caelius allowed it? Jordan didn't doubt that the senior hunter had given permission, but he couldn't think of any sane reason for it.

Circe. Caelius's scythe. Candace. E-10. Pieces that he simply hadn't associated clicked together suddenly in his head. His eyes narrowed. "It was you," he said.

She killed you. And she is carrying ANOTHER WEAPON. Ferros's presence in his mind seethed with fury. That is wrong. She can't do that. I will fight her.

She's not going to attack us. I don't even know if she can summon Circe, Jordan said warily. I'm not going to go after her unprovoked.

She killed you! We should fight her, Ferros growled.

The surprise on Jordan's face wasn't unexpected, but the mention of her own weapon was. Candace's brow furrowed with concern. "What about her? I've still got her, I'm just taking Circe out for some exercise while Caelius is stuck in bed drowning in paperwork." What was the big deal? She'd seen Caelius use multiple weapons! Granted only one of them was actually a hunter weapon but the thought was still there. But Jordan was right to worry about Atropos; the weapon was livid, a constant growl humming through Candace's head that she just ignored. It was mixing with the hum that Circe emitted, so she was caring less and less about it.

Candace was cooing to Circe again when Jordan said three little words that hooked her attention like a shark on a large fishing hook. Lavender eyes darted from Circe to Jordan, a brow raised and her grin shifting into something more curious than smug. "What was me?" Candace didn't bother getting the numbers of the candidates she had killed with the exceptions of her own teammates. She was rather glad she had yet to see any of them return. Harrison was the only one on that team that needed to come back aside from herself.

"In that room," Jordan said flatly. "You picked up the scythe and killed us." Killed their golems, yes, but none of them had known that then. He would have put that aside, left it in the past where it belonged, but Candace had Circe in her hand again and seemed to be taking a faintly demented delight in that fact, and that was worrisome.

"You picked up the scythe and killed us." Candace's eyes widened and she stood rigid, the flashing and gleaming eye bobbing contently onto and off of her hand. He was there? He didn't sound happy...and the way he sounded like he was accusing her. Candace relaxed, her expression taking on a darker tone. She looked unimpressed.

"Did I kill you, Jordan?"
PostPosted: Thu Nov 10, 2011 11:51 pm

"Yes." Kill or be killed, with the walls closing in. It wasn't a memory he'd particularly wanted to revisit. His mind had wiped away the memory of agony, leaving only the recollection of the clean sharp shock before it, but he was still angry, he found.

"Why do you have Circe again?"" Not particularly tactful, no, but for the time being, he was done with tact. Dancing around the subject wouldn't actually hide the fact that right now, he didn't trust Candace.

"Ah, I see. My apologies then. Don't know what came over me back there, and I can assure you it wasn't anything personal." She didn't sound very sincere in this apology. She really wasn't. Candace was damn proud of her actions as Epsilon Ten. She would climb the highest rooftops and scream it if she had the chance.

At his question Candace blinked, tilting her head to one side. It wasn't her intention but she did look slightly more..not all there as a result. Uh, hadn't she just explained? "I paid Caelius a visit to see how he was doing. He said Circe has grown attached to me and said I could take her out for a walk, that's why I have her again."

Candace paused and pursed her lips, eyes darting from Jordan to Circe and back again. "Why? Do you want a rematch?"
PostPosted: Fri Nov 11, 2011 12:15 am

Jordan wasn't quite sure whether that explained everything or made it more confusing. Either way, the end result remained disturbing. "I see," he said cautiously. He was just going to drop the whole matter of the apology. It was clear that that was a dead end.

A rematch? He wasn't sure what to make of that. But damn if he was going to back down. Chickening out - yeah, no. "Sure, if you want," he said. "It'll be good exercise." Well, they were going to get to see if Candace could summon the scythe.

Good, Ferros growled.

We'd be fighting every day if it was up to you. Jordan held his hand out and summoned Ferros, the weight of the hammer settling comfortably into his palm.

I don't see anything wrong with that.

It was questionable whether or not weapons could actually see or hear outside of their -rightful- owner's range, but Circe seemed to have no trouble hearing the gist of the conversation.

Or it seemed so when the weapon picked itself up, humming steadily as it hovered quite a bit over Candace's eye level. The translucent wings immediately extended to a familiar curved blade as the rest of the 'orb' shifted into the handle, and there she stood in weapon form, handle end pressed lightly against the ground, tip of the blade at nearly six feet, waiting.

Weapons lived to fight after all, an unused weapon was a dull one.

"Good." A glance was cast toward Circe as she noticed a flash of moving light, grinning at the beautiful sight of having the scythe back. Oh how she missed this even if she'd only held her once. Candace grabbed hold of the handle of the scythe and expected the heavy weight she'd felt back in that room. No, instead...she was light. Did that mean Candace was stronger or that Circe was just easier to hold now?

Regardless, Candace was grinning again as she pulled the scythe in front of her and held Circe with both hands. "Because it looks like Circe wants to play." Having Circe in her hands again felt great, but not the same as when she'd been fighting with her. Sure, Candace was feeling the pricklings of that deliriously happy feeling beginning to seep into her mind, but it wasn't the same. Maybe this was a good sign?

Only one way to find out. She was at least polite enough to wait for Jordan to summon Ferros and take on a battle-ready stance before coming at him, swinging the scythe at him. It was amateur and sloppy at best, only used to wielding Circe in a small 6 foot by 6 foot room...for a few minutes. It definitely was not swung with the elegance that Caelius offered.

Well, that answered that - though it seemed more like Circe had summoned herself than anything Candace had done. Could she actually hear the scythe? No, he remembered hearing her say that she wished she could - Jordan's train of thought was interrupted by the scythe in question suddenly slicing down at him. He jumped back, but not quickly enough. The tip of the blade tore a long rip down the front of his shirt and took off the end of his scarf. "Dammit," he muttered. That had been new.

Not something to worry about now. He wasn't actually going to admit that he was nervous about this, but it showed through in the excessive caution in his movements. He didn't like the gleeful shine in Candace's eyes.

Then let's do something about it, Ferros urged.

I am. There - a break in her guard. Maybe. He went for it, bringing Ferros around in a wide arc. The blow struck true, and he couldn't help a humorless smile at the solid thump of impact. Ferros snarled gleefully in response.
