 It was the day before a big test and Odette was outside near the forest studying, head buried in her book. She would have much rather been up in a tree, or even out exploring the forest…or…napping.
A nap sounded fantastic to be honest. The brunette gave a yawn and moved so she was resting against the trunk of a large tree, letting her eyelids droop and a smile form on her face. Yeah. Yeah, it was naptime, not study time…she was sure she’d do just fine on her test, even though she didn’t understand half of the things that the teacher was talking about most of the time. She’s just have to wing it.
Odette was good at winging it…it was how she had managed to make it this far at the Academy…most of the time she didn’t think she had enough talent to really be here…but, obviously there was something good and magical about her, besides her fascination with climbing up into trees.

Once the day was over, she transformed into her phoenix form again and sighed a little. She stood on a windowsill of the a high tower. "I don't really want to go home yet... " and with that thought, something caught her eye. It was a girl, seemingly falling asleep under a tree. "Maybe I can tease her a little bit before heading home..."
From the windowsill, she swooped down gracefully into the tree, swiftly and silently. She perched on a branch right above the girl and was smiling, at least, a bird smile. Hoping to wake her in a nice way, Perenna landed softly on the girl's shoulder and tickled the girl's cheek with one of her wings.

Odette jumped when there was a tickle on her cheek and yawned, glancing over to see what had happened. She blinked her green eyes then raised a hand to rub at them before sighing. “Oh…hey little birdie…” She lifted a hand and slowly moved it towards the bird, wanting to stroke its soft looking feathers.
Well…So much for her nap. Ah well. It wasn’t often that she got to be so close to an animal…like, a wild animal. This was kind of cool. And the bird was a beautiful one…one of the prettiest she could ever remember seeing.
Studying would come later, she was sure, now the most important thing was talking to a bird. “What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be up in a tree or something? Flying around…having the wind blowing through your wings?” Odette just gave a little sigh. “I love it up in the air. I’m almost always up in a tree, you know.”

Perenna looked at the girl. "She looks kinda sad and lonely to me... I wonder why that is..."
As the girl stroked her feathers, Perenna rubbed her head against the girl's cheek again and let out a few happy chirps. It wasn't normal for Perenna to be social when she was in her human form, but for some reason, she felt like she was enjoying today.
She took off into the air a little bit above the girl and circled around her head. Perenna was flying around up and down a little and then she flew up and down the tree around the trunk. She was trying to mention to the girl to get up the tree, repeating the same flight path several times before taking off and landing on a thick branch somewhat high in the air.
The little bird peeked down at the girl again and sent down a few more chirps, wondering if the girl would join her up in the tree.
