I haven't seen a official forum for UTAU, so here goes smile
Many of you have heard of popular UTAUs, such as the Vipperl@ids (Teto, Ritsu, Ruko) and have commented on how they are just like Vocaloids, yet they are different.
What is UTAU?
UTAU is a voice synthesizer very similar to Vocaloid, however it's main differences rely in the fact that it is FREE but arguably harder to use. It was created by Ameya/Ayame and is in no way associated with YAMAHA.
What program is it for?
It was created to work on Windows, however a recent release of UTAU-synth has been made available, a version specifically made for Mac.
What do you do?
Like Vocaloid, you can control what a vocalist to sings for you. Though UTAU doesn't have as many features as Vocaloid, UTAU does give the option to import your own voices or others' voices into it to be used for singing. There are several voices people have recorded and made public.
