Mot made his way back through the halls of the Demon Dorms, having just had a visit with Lizzy. The plans they had made to hang out in his home city whirled about in his mind, causing him to smile and giggle every once in a while.
By the time he reached the lobby, there was a bounce in his step, humming some kind of happy ballad reserved for young scarelings in love.
He honestly had no idea he'd been humming.

Mac was just outside of the demon dorms, leaning against the wall closest to the front entrance. It was inevitable that the cowboil would be coming out of there soon, and he wanted to catch him before he could run too far away. The Reaper had quite a few questions for his - well, for his cousin - but that particular knowledge would be kept to himself. For now. His intentions were elsewhere, and all he had to do was wait.
As luck would have it, he didn't have to wait too long! Mot came strolling out of the Demon Dorms, whistling a happy tune that honestly made him hate the world a little more; he was quick to squash those feelings, to put on a chipper smile and lightly push off from the wall.
"Hey Mot? Gotta moment?"

Mot yelped as a voice shocked him out of his daydreaming, nearly tumbling over himself in the process. Luckily, the tripping didn't happen. Almost though. "Huh--Oh, Howdy!" Mot answered back with a smile. Oh wait... Mac?! s**t, he was just talking about him with Lizzy. Was he here to see her? Obviously.
Mot looked him over for a second. This was the kind of guy Lizzy went for? Buff and strong, right? Sigh. Mot didn't stand a chance! He felt a little depressed now.
"Yeah, sure. What's up?"

"Just wanna talk." Mac said, digging his hands into his jacket pockets. As he stepped closer to Mot, he found the increasing urge to pick up that twig of a Reaper and to threaten him into staying the hell away from his ghoulfriend, but thankfully it was an urge he could squash. It wasn't the time or place, and he had questions to ask with his voice, not to solve with his fist.
"About Lizzy." He clarified once he was close enough to reach out and grab him should he try to bolt. "If that's alright with you." Something about the way he said it just screamed it had better be alright with you.

The hand on his arm, gripped firmly, along with the tone and daggers in Mac's eyes? Yeah, mot was in deep s**t. The thin reaper gulped audibly. "Uh..it's okay with me." He managed to say with a semi even tone. Oh ho are we kidding? It was jittery. Like that didn't scream guilt.
Still, did Mac know how Mot felt for Lizzy? Was he in trouble, or did he just not like boils talking to his ghoul? If it was the latter, Mot had a few words to say to that.

"Good." Mac said with the ghost of a smile on his lips, still trying to squash the squash Mot instincts and replace them with be nice to Mot ones. It was hard. Really hard. Especially since everything about him just screamed I AM GUILTY SO GUILTY AAAAAAAAAAA--- But at least, unlike Shun, he managed to keep his fists to himself.
"She's a nice ghoul, innit she?" He started conversationally, keeping his hands in his pockets while starting to walk way from the dorms, figuring Mot would just follow. "Stubborn, kind, not bad on the eyes either, if you catch my drift." Chuckling, he shook his head; yeah, she was pretty. Very pretty. He had only noticed it just before Prom, when he saw her as a ghoul and not just another demon.
"When she gets upset her brow creases just so." Mac continued fondly, trying for a moment to mimic it before he gave up; his face couldn't pull off ghoul-level subtlety. "But her smile....she smiles at you, and you feel like you could take on the Human World, if only to keep that smile on her pretty little face. He was purposely going through a list of his ghoul's best qualities, trying to not make it obvious that he was watching the cowboil as he did, looking for any indication that he was right...

Mot followed, wearily. His thumbs were slipped through his belt loops, following beside the other reaper. This was awkward, horribly awkward. Especially when mac began to name off the things about Lizzy he also loved about her. It was uncomfortable, but the more he listed, the softer Mot's eyes became. His own mind was adding things to that list even as Mac paused. The thin reaper's eyes lowered to the ground as he walked, feeling a little warm now.
He felt badly now. As if he hadn't before. He was so excited to keep Lizzy to himself, thinking he must like her more than anyone else. But.. Mac was going out with Lizzy not just because she was pretty, right? He must really like her as well. Of course he did. Mot's heart fell even more. Hi feelings kept attacking each other like he had to sworn enemies fighting a war within him.
Mot simply Mmhmm'd to what Mac said. Rather tight lipped.

Ah-hah, and there it was, the confirmation. Mot's expression said it all; he didn't need to verbalize it. That simple Mmhmm was just the cherry on top, really.
"Mot, I have something to ask you, and I promise you can be honest, don't beat around the bush, got it? I won't do anything." It was easier to ask point blank, or so he found. Besides, talking more about Lizzy made his heart hurt, especially since he could already guess Mot's answer.

Oh dear Jack, what did Mac want from him? Honestly, Mot had no clue. Nothing to guess at. He wanted to ask something of him?
"Uh...I'll try and be honest." He was a terrible liar anyway, so honesty wasn't really the difficult part.
Still, Mot was anxious to know what Mac wanted. Not in the good way.

Now aware Mot would at least Try, Mac stopped walking, turning to better face the boil to see his reaction. As always, his hands remained in his jacket pockets, where he could curl his fingers into fists and not be noticed.
"Do you like Lizzy? And before you say something stupid like Of course, she's my friend--" Okay, that last part might have been a little mocking. Err, a lot mocking. But he'd seen Charlie and Amrita's little confession. He knew what Lizzy was like before they started dating. "--I mean like her."

Mot stopped as Mac did, feeling intimidated now that they were face to face. Wait.. did this guy get a little taller? Not important.
What was important, was Mac's question. Mot's first instinct? Run. However, he knew better than to do that. It would 1) Pretty much give mac his answer, and 2) Mac knew where he lived anyway. So, Mot was pretty well stuck. He couldn't even use the excuse he wanted since Mac already veto'd it. Damn.
"Uh.." Mot's mouth hung open a moment, his entire sickly pale complexion going a delicious shade of red. "Well...I.." Mot grimaced, ruffling his hair nervously. "Maybe. I guess. But I mean, it's not like I plan on doing anything about it.." Just in case mac had any ideas about killing him. Please don't kill him. Mot rather liked being alive.

Was Mac taller? Why yes, yes he was. Mysteriously. But that was a mysterious growth spurt that happened months ago, keep up with the times, Mot.
The answer wasn't surprising, at least part of it wasn't. The Psychopomp flinched visibly despite every attempts to hide it, but he quickly bowed his head to hide behind the brim of his hat before he could look any more hurt than he imagined he already did. Jackdamnit, Mac! Keep it together! You can't back or or think of backing out yet! Pansy!
"Because of me, right?" He had to know, just to be sure. "Or is there something else...?"

"Um, well that is the bulk of the reason, yes." Mot answered honestly, his hands moving back to fidget with his belt loops. His other reason? Well, no one really needed to know that. He'd never told a soul. Lizzy almost found out at Prom, but he had managed to avoid the issue rather cleanly despite the circumstances.
That something else? Good luck prying it out of him.

"I see." A bulk of the reason, eh? That seemed good enough for him, surprisingly. He turned away from Mot and started walking again, once more assuming that the Grim would follow him. He moved in silence for a moment or two, gritting his teeth as he considered his options. Mot did like her, and if the bulk of the reason was him...if he was removed from the picture, it would be alright...right?
"Where's your hat?" He asked suddenly, realizing the familiar hat was gone. A sudden topic change, but he had what he wanted. It was now just a matter of getting home to think about it.
Meanwhile, the unaddressed flower he had intended to give to Lizzy remained forgotten, discarded easily in a garbage outside of the Demon Dorms.

That.. was all? Mot blinked, confused, and watched Mac begin to move away again. Mot followed cautiously. Hey, he lived beside him, so he had to go this way anyway.
"Oh.." The hat.. Mot scratched the bridge of his nose, his gaze dropping. "It was destroyed on the field trip." He answered solemnly. Utterly destroyed. He still missed that hat. However, the one Hel made him was slung behind him around his neck. It was odd not wearing anything on top of his head, but that was all part of his effort to quit hiding behind an article of clothing.
Mac hadn't gone. Mac was smart.. then again, he'd been at the school longer than Mot had. He just knew better. f another trip came up? Perhaps Mot would go again, despite the danger. It was all part of getting stronger.
