Jerry was uncharacteristically quiet, save for a soft, more than likely instinctual hum as Candace lead him from the tents. He was... doing ok, he felt. Just tired. And crispy. Nothing a good night's sleep or six wouldn't cure.
Most of the other hunters were nearly ten years younger, and he felt himself jealous of their stamina. But he wasn't OLD. He was in the prime of his life, thank you! Just...
tired.
And Crispy.
And a bit blind and perturbed.
But all things considered, it could have been a lot worse.
He could be dead.

Candace was fine with it. Jerry could be as quiet as he wanted to be as long as he kept walking. She kept one arm hovering behind him just in case, the other holding the hand closest to her. Every now and then she'd lean in to brush her lips against his temple or his cheek, not minding that doing so meant she would be walking as blindly as he was. "We're almost there, Jerr-bear. I'll make sure you're comfortable before I leave too, okay? We'll go get new uniforms and see about your glasses in the morning." She told him gently, giving his hand a light squeeze.
What did comfortable mean? She wasn't sure right this second. Tucked in, kiss goodnight? That was all, right? She'd even help him get the stupid overalls off if she had to.

"Th-thank you," He managed distantly, flushing a bit with every sign of affection. It was all new to him. Feeling like a battered soldier. Being cared for by... by a very nice girl. It was almost all too much, "I... I can probably manage, but... but thank you."

"You're welcome, babe." Candace replied with a smile as she continued to slowly walk along with the battered, burned man. But wait...was that a protest? She frowned. "You can hobble to your room, get this stupid costume off and climb into bed on your own in a timely manner?" If it came off harsh it was not her intention. Candace was merely stating the facts. He could do it, but was it wise? It would take probably twice as long on his own than if she helped him.

At that answer she stopped walking to just stare at him. Candace snorted suddenly, putting a hand against her mouth to muffle it a moment too late. "S-sorry. Just imagining you naked and unconscious in the hall." She coughed to try and cover up her laughter, grinning as she leaned in to kiss his cheek again.
"Let's keep public nudity to a minimum, Jerr-bear. That's really something that only belongs behind closed doors~." Candace teased affectionately before continuing down the hall, checking the door numbers. "What's your room again..?"

"One twenty nine," He murmured, shoulders suddenly giving a shiver under their blanket, despite the burns. "I'm... I'm fine, really..." His voice drifted a bit, eyes looking glazed as he tripped after her, "I fell into a burning ring of fire... I went down, down, down and the flames went higher..."

Alright, 129. She'd keep an eye out for that number then. She didn't believe he was fine. He practically died. Candace even took a moment to adjust the blanket after he shivered again.
Jerry began to sing and she blinked, leaning in closer to listen. Huh? "What're you singing now?"

"Johnny cash," he mumbled. There was no lecture, no ridiculous amount of babbled explanation and unbridled enthusiasm. Just a dreamy looking expression and dark shadows behind his eyes. Jerry Collins was tired. Mr collins was done. Somehow he managed to float down the hall, moving mostly by instinct it would seem, and it was absurdly long before he finally followed up with, "have that... Song stuck in my head."

Candace blinked. "...Who?" The name sounded kind of familiar but it wasn't enough for her to know who he was. Where had she heard that name? "Well, if you wanna sing it go for it. I don't mind."
Finally Candace stopped and sighed with relief. "We're here." She told him with a grin before opening the door and instinctively reaching in to search the nearest wall for a light switch. But there was something wrong with this picture...the lights were already on? "Oops. Looks like you left your lights on. C'mon, let's get you out of these clothes and into bed, okay?"

"M'kay," He mumbled, and judging by his drooping head, he looked almost ready to collapse. The walk back seemed to be the final straw for the already exhausted man, but the comfort of his well-lit room and it's one cheery but meager poster was enough for him to wobble in and gingerly shrug off the blanket with a wince.
He paused to smile at the poster. So far, any room checks hadn't robbed him of it yet. He hoped it stayed that way. He liked that poster. It was a touch of home. Such a nice poster. And... right. Pajamas. But Candace was still standing there. "I... um..." He started to protest.

Damn, these rooms were so bare. Even Candace's was less than pleasing to her. She wish she'd known what was going to be happening or she'd have packed the decor of her old apartment. Don't question it! She would have crammed her entire old apartment into her new room! Sigh. Maybe one day she could get off the island long enough to go buy nicer bedsheets or something. That's all she wanted.
Jerry spoke and Candace looked his way again, raising a brow and looking genuinely curious to what he was trying to say. "Yes?" What was wrong? Did he need help? His overalls shouldn't have been very hard to take off considering...well..he'd been blasted with pure fire.

"You're um-" Well... the rational part of his mind sluggishly reminded him, it wasn't like she hadn't seen him in his underpants before. His face flushed hotly at the memory of their brief time in the tent...
His hands went to the overalls, gingerly undoing them. The shirt, he wondered if it would need to be cut off. Letting them hang, he carefully started to pull it off, but winced when it stuck to his burns.
Alright, he'd start with the sweat pants. Her back was still turned, at least, and he worked as quickly as he could before sitting on the bed wearily, leaving the burnt and slightly melted turtleneck on for now. "I think... I think I just need to pass out, ahahahaha... Um. Thank you, though. For walking me back."

"Jerry, spit it ou--oh...really?" Candace sighed. Was he seriously being shy? Ugh. They had a lot of work to do. Candace didn't see the big deal but fine. If Jerry insisted. She turned around, leaning her weight onto her uninjured leg and crossing her arms. She waited, listening for the rustling of clothing to stop as her sign to turn back around. Was that a hiss of pain? Candace nearly turned around to see what the problem was but thought better of it. He wanted modesty. She'd give it to him.
Why was she being so nice.
The sound of him sitting on the bed finally got her to turn around. "..You're keeping the turtleneck? Are you sure?" Candace asked with a worried frown, walking over to stand in front of where he was sitting down. He looked a wreck. "It was no problem. You'd do the same if the roles were reversed, right? You're a good man. If you need anything don't hesitate to text me, okay? Anything at all." Candace leaned down, a hand reaching to gently tip Jerry's head back with her index and middle fingers gently tapping under his chin. She leaned in to catch his lips for a sweet goodnight kiss, one that didn't last too long else he get too flustered to sleep or something. It was just a goodnight kiss!
"I'll see you later. Sleep well, okay?" Candace left one more kiss against his lips before finally drawing away, waving a few fingers goodbye before walking to the door. She completely forgot to turn the lights off when she left; Jerry was a lucky man.
