Hope it's okay to post this! ^_^ but I thought we could use a thread to post our favorite patterns for yarn-y type ventures, and where we got them!
Online Patternshttp://knittingpatterncentral.com/Already recommended in the lace knitting thread, but good for all sorts of patterns too. I like their selection of shawls.

BooksStitch 'n b***h The Knitter's Handbook by Debbie Stoller
Great book, I still use it for tips and patterns (my most made pattern from that book is the kitty hat pattern).
Stitch Nation by Debbie Stoller
The sequel to The Knitter's Handbook, also a good book.
Knitting Without Tears by Elizabeth Zimmerman
Great introduction to knitting as well as The Knitter's Handbook
Traditional Knitted Shawls by Martha Waterman
Great book on knitting lace shawls.
3nodding Covers all kinds too, not just one or two varieties of lace, as well as different ways to wear shawls. Tons of good stitches and good patterns.
Respect the Spindle by Abby Franquemont
Great book to have if you're a spindle spinner, or want to learn. Absolutely invaluable.
I won't post my whole library, as I will never leave the computer if I did that.
sweatdrop But I'll post more of my favorites later. Feel free to post your favorite websites and books, and I'll update this post to add them to the list.
