I recommend making anything that comes in a box. *speaking from expert culinary experience* 3nodding

XDDDD

But no, really. What I usually do when I'm in a situation like that is ask what exactly I have a taste for. And then I go from there. =P

If they're offered, sure razz
More or less, I just have these borderline eating disorder tendencies, so it's hard to make me want to eat, especially when I have food to eat :<

I cook regularly so I have a lot of complicated recipes and stuff... but I dunno if they're what you're after really and there are lots of ingredients and stuff..

One thing I suggest if you're trying new things is to build up a stock of basic ingredients and spices. For example, always have onions (a couple of different kinds if posible) on hand, as they're the basic ingredient for a huge variety of recipes. Have different herbs on hand too and things like cheese, soy sauce, garlic and cornflour. And sugar and milk. Basics.

A very simple and tasty meal I like to make for quick occassions is scrambled eggs with cheese and thyme. Basically, beat up your eggs, put some butter or oil in a pan (as a general rule, butter is for flavour, oil or lard is for heat [since butter burns at higher temperatures]) and make sure it's nice and hot before you put the eggs in - this not only means faster cooking time, but the result will be less greasy because the fat doesnt absorb in like cold or lukewarm fat does. The same rule applies to shallowfrying chips and bacon - the hotter the better. Scramble the eggs by moving them around with the spatula or spoon or fork or whatever you're using befor ethe mixture has time to settle anywhere.

When it's still half-runny, add the cheese, which can be grated or in chunks or whatever, and sprinkle over about a teaspoon of thyme. Salt and pepper too if you like. Keep moving it around and give it time to warm and cook properly. Serve it before it starts getting dry and crispy/gaining too much colour.

Does that help?

@Inu: yeah, I have a couple of one dish meals, but I'd really prefer to save them for when I need them.
I think that is my problem, I horde things under the pretense of "being prepared" but most of what I put in my fridge goes bad before I get to it.

@Lorika: Lol, I have cooked professionally, so that was slightly lol-inducing, but thank you smile You did have a few tips in there that had never really been brought to my attention though, so that's extremely helpful on that front.
I'll give a rough list of what I have, if that helps :p
Eggs, bacon, cheese milk, flour, sugar, bacon, Roast beef (sandwhich meat) Ramen, Various pasta, pasta sauce, Cereal, honey, various jams, Onions (I always have onions razz ) tomatoes, Ovenable chicken nuggets, and a few single serving microwave dishes.

Oh! I didnt realise! Sorry if I insulted you. The only other man I've ever tried to help cook took to it like a duck takes to iceskating, so I guess I just automatically approached it like I was speaking to a total beginner XD;

And you dont feel like making yourself anything with those ingredients?

I just lost a lot of enjoyment from cooking (and eating :<) since I moved out here. And my aversion to washing dishes was reinforced by the fact I was the only one who would clean at all in my old place (Long, extremely bad story, I try to let Karma work things out for the people who did that s**t, but thinking about still makes me emotional). And I'd feel more like cooking if there was someone besides me eating too :/ Honestly cooking single servings has never gone easy with me.
Lmao, Most guys don't cook, I know, but i'm not insulted :p

Well I dunno if I can help you hon =< If it's a psychological thing... only you can do that.

If you dont feel like cooking there are plenty of mirowave meals... and you can make them more interesting and substantial by say, microwaving a cottage pie and heating some tinned peas or whatever with it. Fray Bentos, if you have that make over there, has some delicious canned meatballs and stuff, and their oven-cooked pies are to die for... and then maybe try and get some packets of frozen veg too, frozen has all the goodness of fresh veg in a conveniently packaged form, doesnt usually take long to cook either. If you don't feel like maing gravy I know a good make over here for granules is ASDA's own brand - ASDA are a division of WAL-MART, so maybe they'd have something similar?

Nobody else eats my cooking at home but me and occassionally my mum, so what I usually do is make a big meal that'd serve about four people in a normal setting and then eat that over the course of the next two to three days (I only eat about one to two meals a day, very unhealthy I know, but I'm just not hungry very often). I dont think you should worry about eating alone. ^^

Also, if you can afford salmon fillets, they take LESS THAN five minutes to cook in the microwave, but are even better steamed. If you buy frozen fillets you can even create the effect of steaming by placing the fillet on a plate and then placing another plate on top. The plate traps all the water and stops it from escaping and the fish from burning (too much anyway - the heat in the microwave is so intense the fish will EASILY burn if you do it many seconds more than necessary)

5-minute salmon fillet with some kind of sauce and veg, magnifique!~

Lol, I eat one a day... Quite often take out, if at all. and it's not that I'm a picky eater, but there are a lot of food that simply don't appeal to me (ie, pot pies, canned veggies, :< ) and one thing I simply can't stand is eating the same thing for several days straight. After a while my body will simply start to reject it. (And food that comes back up is a waste of money from my perspective) I think I just really miss my mother's cooking sad

I love how up there you said "@Inu" when I hadn't spoken yet. It made me go "OH MY WORD, DID I SAY SOMETHING AND NOT KNOW?!"

All I'm going to recommend is my favorite dish. Chicken Alfredo on angel hair pasta. :3

OMG!, Lol, I'm so sorry TRG!
Thank you Inu, for pointing that out for me :p
I'm not the biggest fan of alfredo sauce though

Ooooh, how funny is that? I just ate pasta with Alfredo sauce and chicken. =O

Anyways, from what I hear from Storm, seems like he's out of luck. If it were me, I'd just starve until I felt hungry. Then again, I approach life differently. D:
For one, I found Lorika's rendition of eggs extremely informative.
