Not that any cull would, or at least the pup hoped. They were mostly busy trying to find food for themselves, as far as he could tell. He'd seen a few digging through trash bins the other day.
Anyway, he was passing through a suburb area today, with more houses than businesses or industrial buildings. He'd wandered away from those streets much earlier and decided that a peaceful, quieter stroll was in order. He was tired of avoiding carts and large two-leggers who weren't looking out for mokai his size. The stroll was certainly peaceful, however boring. A part of him hoped he'd run into someone, though preferably a friendly someone, to have a chat with. Ooh, or maybe he could call Imnir. He kind of wanted to take the big fighter up on his offer to go exploring already..
Decisions, decisions.

Nova was on his daily walk with his owner, Tayah. She took him everywhere she went meaning he got plenty of exercise. It tired him out some days but he adored Tayah so much he never left her side, she often picked him up if he tired too much. Today she had decided to stop for a considerable length of time at a small, local cafe and Nova was glad of the rest. He yawned and was about to curl up around Tayah's feet when he spotted a small grey shape, at first he thought it was some other creature but as it came closer he realised it was another Mokai, a pup by the looks of things and Nova stood, showing himself while wagging his curled tail happily. He yipped out a greeting to the youngster, if it was the pup of a feral, as he assumed since it was wandering alone, maybe Tayah would get it some food. "Hey! Hello th...th....th....there!" he called to the pup, hoping not to startle him.

As he went, Jak heard an unfamiliar voice call to him. A curious look spread itself across his face as the pup looked around, his eyes eventually landing on another mokai not too far away. Seemed as though he wouldn't have to call in that favor just yet. With a small smile, the pup hurried over to the brown and black mokai, a bit surprised to note that he was just barely bigger than he was. Jak furrowed his brows in slight confusing; he hadn't remembered seeing a pup of this coloring in the nursery..
"Are you supposed to be a pup?" His ears flattened in embarrassment, as he had asked without really thinking. "Oops, sorry. Um.. hi?" A weak recovery, but at least he apologized.
There was an awkward sort of pause there which he used to take a quick look around. The other mokai, for one, was on a leash and his owner was just nearby, and they were in front of a place that he only just now noticed was full of food. Young Jak, the growing mokai that he was, was almost always constantly on the search for food. Not wanting to make that too obvious though, he took a seat and smiled across at the other.
"I'm Jak," he said with a small smile. "What's your name?" Maybe introducing himself would mean a better chance at scoring a free meal.

Nova watched as the pup trotted over, he noted the surprised look and smiled, he often got that reaction from young ones, since he was so small. "No ... i'm about as b..b...b....big as i'm going to get" he said with a chuckle. "It's alright i d..d...d..don't mind" he comforted, seeing the pups ears flatten as if Nova might cuff him for being rude.
He waited as the pup looked around, Nova's stomach growled a little as the smells coming from the small cafe wafted towards him. He smiled at the pup when he sat down.
"I'm N..N...N....N..Nova" he replied, "Are you hungry?" he asked, knowing how hungry he'd always been as a pup he thought this one on it's own might need something. He saw the collar and wondered. Why was a collared pup out on it's own and where was it's human.

The slate pup's smile widened a bit when the other brushed off his rude remark, and even made a sort-of joke out of the statement. Now noting the stutter, Jak kept his mouth shut for an extra second to make sure he didn't say anything stupid or hurtful before actually talking again. "Nova, huh?" he said, testing the name on his tongue. A good name, no doubt, though seemingly unfitting for a small mokai with a stutter. All the same, it was a good name. "Nice to meet you."
He would have gone on to ask a question of his own had Nova asked a different question. At the idea of food, the pup tail began to sway energetically behind his seated form.
"Kind of," Jak said, then glanced in the direction the smell of food was wafting from. "I'd go home for lunch, but it's kind of far..." He smiled sheepishly at the other, hoping he didn't come off as lazy. It really was far, and he hadn't had anything to eat since earlier that morning when Andi gave him breakfast.

Nova smiled, hew knew pups spoke their mind and they couldn't help themselves sometimes, it was part of growing up, social graces and all that but Nova didn't care much when it came to the young ones. "Yep, N.....N...N...Nova is what m...m....m..my human called m..m...me" he said before having to stifle a laugh at the eager wagging of the pup's tail when food was mentioned.
He pawed at Tayah to get her attention and mimicked pushing a bowl towards her when she looked at him, he turned his head to point out the pup and Tayah said something to the waiter, Nova turned to the pup with a grin "N..n...no problem Jak she'd just ordered s..s...s...something for both of us" he thought for a second and just outright asked "W...w..w....where's your human?" he asked, trying very hard not to fumble on his words but even comfortable around this pup, he found it hard.
