Ah, it really was a lovely morning. Stretching Aurélie reached out a paw towards a spot of sunlight which flickered before her. Closing her eyes the cheetah smiled. It was warm and bright. The golden rays danced over her golden pelt making her appear like sun for that instant before she too slipped away and back into the shadows of the jungle. What to do today? The female’s heart lurched as a memory of times past when she used to wake up and climb up to where her father had slept. There she would curl up around him when she was younger until he woke up as well. But as she had gotten older she had stood around and waited on him before asking him about the day’s schedule.
“Guess I can’t do that anymore. Right, papa?” A small bittersweet smile crossed her features before the cheetah turned away from the den. Her gaze stung, but she shook her head quickly. No. Something like that was not about to get her down. She had a reputation, a job to do as a noble. Aurélie looked around quickly to make sure no one else was watching. That was good. But still her chest tightened. Maybe it was best to take a walk before something did break free. Jumping over a fallen vine the cheetah walked gracefully away from the dens and further into the heart of the jungle.

Marius woke up late. He had spent the night watching the stars wondering what he did to deserve such a wonderful life in the pride. In his life he had done some terrible things. He abounded his family twice now, the second time he felt more guilty then the first.
It was pure luck that he found the pride and even lucker that he fit so well in the pride. He was aloud to Chevalier which he was proud of. His fighting skills were top notch and he wasn't one to boast but he found that it really was the perfect position for him.
As he woke up he thought he heard someone speak. He slowly made his way out of his den and saw a lovely cheetahess. Surely she was a nobel he thought, thinking he must have seen her at some point. He watched her silently as she left heading to the jungle. It was odd, he thought for a cheetah to venture to the jungle alone. It was dangerous out there.
He knew what he would have to do. Slowly he got up and headed into the jungle. He kept his distance from her, not wanting to get too close. If he started her it could scare not only her but another creature and who knows what would happen than. He could just silently make sure she was safe. It was his duty after all to keep the pride safe and he was going to make sure to do that.

Aurélie kept walking. Normally nobles would never be caught this far out on their own, but the female cheetah showed no hesitation or fear as she continued into the jungle. This was her home for years and unlike others she had made certain to actually venture out into it. Her papa had even told her once that if you didn’t look fear in the face then you could never become strong. The thought made the cheetah sigh. But she needed this. If she didn’t mourn now then the chance might never come up. And there was no way that she would waver in front of the rest of the coalition. She needed to be strong, to continue being the lady that her father had been so proud of.
Her tail brushed against a vine and she glanced over at it with surprise. Ah. The flowers that bloomed here were her father’s favorites just because her mother enjoyed them. It was weird how such little things could bring back so many memories and tears. Sitting down the cheetah stared up through the jungle foliage and towards the sky where a pattern of light made its way down to the jungle floor where she sat. Tilting her head back she let the light wash over her pelt as the tears started to silently stream down her face. She would cry her tears here and let the memories rest with these flowers.
After a few moments of silence the female opened her eyes and slowly turned her gaze towards the jungle behind her. Was there someone else out here? Surely not because who else would come out this way? Turning away again she wiped her eyes with her paw. In another minute or so she would probably head back. Else someone would probably notice her absence. But really all she wanted to do was lay down in this small patch of sun and to rest. To rest and forget for the moment that everything was different.

He watched her silently from a fair distance. Quietly he decided to make his presence known. He walked closer to her, his feat near silence as he walked. She might be safer if she knew he was out there, he decided. He just hoped he wouldn't scare her when he approached. "Nobles shouldn't be out here," he said quietly when he was close to her. "At least not by themselves."
He wasn't much of a stickler for rules, however he knew that some where there for a reason. The jungle was a dangerous place for any of them and unless you knew how to defend yourself, it was a scary place. He wondered what drove the noble out this far? He was sure that others would have turned away much earlier.
"If you want to stay out here, you may. I'll stay with you and keep you safe." he promised with an awkward smile. "I have no other duties right now so I should be fine if I stay out here with you. My name is Marius by the way. Well, it was Merris-Perrin, but I changed it once I joined the pride. It was an easy way to leave my old life behind me."
He thought about his previous 'life' and how everything ended so bitter, his brother and Cay. He wished he could go back and fix everything, but he knew he couldn't What happened happened and there was no changing that. For now he would stay here and do his job. Hopefully he would find away to make up for his mistakes.

Aurélie’s gaze widened in surprise as the male approached her. Who was this? Frowning at his comment about nobles the female had to hold back a sharp retort. Instead she looked away to brush her eyes with her paws before peeking back over at him, “I can take care of myself. I appreciate your concern, but really there is no need to concern yourself.” She gave him a faint smile before looking back up towards the tree tops. Something told her that he would not just leave her here after finding her so with a small sigh the cheetah nodded. “Alright then. But you have to promise me-“ Here she paused and looked at him with a very somber expression, “You must promise me that you won’t tell anyone about what happened here, yes?”
Blinking back anymore tears the cheetah focused back on him, “Well meet then Marius, formerly Merris-Perrin.” She actually had a true smile as she spoke to him, “My name is Aurélie.” Her gaze softened at his comment about leaving behind his old life. Since she believed that usually only those who had some tragedy before left their old lives behind them she realized that it might be the case with the male next to her. “An old life, hmm?” She looked up at him, “I suppose I shouldn’t ask, but I hope that you are finding a better life here.”
Standing she looked around, “What do you think of the jungle? Did you come from the grasslands perhaps?” Her bright gaze was still shining from tears despite her attempt to sound light humored, “I would feel so exposed if I was ever away from the protection of the jungle.”

He smiled at her. "I promise I won't tell. I wouldn't want to get yo to beu in trouble. What brings you out in the jungle anyways?" he wondered what would drive a noble to go out in the jungle when the could stay safely at the pride. Did she have a thrill for adventure? That was something he thought most nobles didn't have.
"It is a pleasure to meet you Aurélie" His smile faded when she asked if he had found a better life in the pride. It was a hard question to answer. "In most ways yes. I feel honored to be able to live here and it's such an amazing pride, but there are some friends I left behind and I miss them terribly." He thought about Cay, the leopardess that had entranced him with her songs. He knew he would never be happy with her, that being with her would have been painful for both of them.
"Yea I came from the grasslands," he was happy with the subject change. "It's much different than the jungle. There is a freedom I feel here that I couldn't feel in the grasslands. Plus there isn't anything quite as beautiful as the jungle I think. There a mysterious beautify here."

Aurélie smiled at him. Well that was one relief. Though she figured that he didn’t really understand that being in trouble was not her worry about this situation. What would she do if anyone had found her, a noble who was fighting to prove her worth, crying out in the middle of the jungle? Surely they would consider her to really be a delicate female then. She disliked the thought of being treated like a cub. Her spirit was much stronger than that.
She gave him a polite nod before sitting straighter to listen to him with interest. She had always wondered about the rogue lands. Was it much different out there? Were all treated the same or differently? Some tales even told of prides where the hierarchy didn’t even exist or where females dominated it. The thought always intrigued her, but she was happy with her home. Though the thought of being able to claim the same position as the male in front of her made her heart clench. Once she might have tried to climb past the stares and to fight for it…but now everything was different. Still such was life. You couldn’t always get everything you wanted after all. “Ah.” Blinking she focused back on Merris. “I suppose I could see that, but I hope that you have friends here to make up for them as well.” She smiled, “Who knows? Maybe one day you’ll even run across your old friends again.”
“I believe so as well!” Aurélie exclaimed happily, “I love the beauty that can be found out here. I don’t see how others can live anywhere else.” She let out a soft laugh, “Though I suppose everyone has their own opinions. Personally I love it here and I’m glad to hear someone else who has the same feelings. Especially since you haven’t been here all your life. Someone else might say I love it because it is the only thing I know.” She looked around them, “But I still believe that no matter where I could go this would always be the home I love.”

"Have you always lived here?" He asked curiously. "I've always lived in the rogue lands so I never knew anything but the wild and chaos of those lands. It dangerous out there as well. I'm not saying its not dangerous here though." He looked around a little paranoid, but he was sure they were safe. "Anything out there can happen. When I was just a cub my sister disappeared from our den. I haven't seen her since. Before I came here I made it my mission to find her. After all those years I could never find her."
He let out a sigh. He really didn't want his demons of the past to intrude. Aurélie probably didn't care about his past, but he needed to get it off his chest. Ever since he stopped looking for his sister he had an aching feeling. He missed her terrible and he knew there was a huge chance that she had past away. He couldn't bare to think of that though. There was still a little hope that she was alive. Maybe had her own family somewhere.
He gave Aurélie a smile. "But that's enough of my troubles." He said with a laugh. It would be no good to put all his troubles on one cheetahess. Maybe if the two of them became friends he would share more about his past. Tell her all his mistakes he has made, but for now he focused on what was important. Here and now. Nothing else really mattered.
"I think I am a little thirsty. Mind if I go to a river and take a drink?"
