I've been on a My Little Pony :Friendship is Magic kick lately and since it was deemed off topic in the Halloween thread I decided to make an official one.
And it's not limited to the newest show but all incarnations of it. And to be honest until I get back into a swing of things this may be the best way to get me to come back more.
So any questions? Comments? Certain episodes in need of discussion?

The most important question:
Why?
This is coming from a person who has heard many good things about it, but being the cynic that I am, I'd rather have the opinions of at least 3 good friends first

My only question is... Just how much do you know about My Little Ponies?
And on another note: they seem to be out of season, despite the reintroduction to young and impressionable minds. Did they make it into a movie? The only recent things I've seen were books...

To answer question's in no particular order:
I knew of the original show, which itself got a movie like the original Transformers back in the 80s, but other then toy commercials through out the years and the Direct to Video stuff they've been pumping out, I hadn't really paid attention to it. And to be honest there's not really much to know about My Little Pony. Much like Transformers it was created to move toys, just more directed at girls then boys. Not a bad thing but quite frankly back then they didn't think they needed an on going plot or anything interesting for the show. Oh yeah, there's an occasional villain they defeat with the Rainbow of Light but that's it.
The major thing about the new one is that Lauren Faust was "offered" at the creative head. She was trying to get her own show started but knew she wouldn't get anywhere without taking on this job and so, to quote her.
"When I took the job, I braced myself for criticism, expecting many people — without even watching the show — to instantly label it girly, stupid, cheap, for babies or an evil corporate commercial. I encourage skeptics like this to watch My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic with an open mind. If I'm doing my job right, I think you'll be surprised." —Lauren Faust
She also said this : "Cartoons for girls don’t have to be a puddle of smooshy, cutesy-wootsy, goody-two-shoeness. Girls like stories with real conflict; girls are smart enough to understand complex plots; girls aren’t as easily frightened as everyone seems to think."
As for just who she is, here's a link : http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/LaurenFaust
As for me? I was playing Team Fortress 2, which is like... 87% male ages 13-20 something, and I notice that a lot of them was using pictures of Ponies as sprays. Wondering what was going on I gave it a try, with my first episode being "The Best Night Ever" which is the final episode of first season and also about them going to a Gala. Seeing how these ponies actually had character, and also a few good musical numbers, I gave it a shot. I haven't seen all the episodes yet though. Still missing two or three from the first season and two from season two which has just started.
Currently my favorite is Apple Jack with Fluttershy as a very close second.
To close out this post here's a retrospective of the versions of My Little Pony that came before the current one. http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/teamt/cr/ff/32418-episode-57-my-little-pony-retrospective-part-1

Uhhh I actually saw Nerimon watch the first episode and he liked it a lot, so I was like "Wow, it must be pretty good to just convert people like that!" So I watched the entire first series in a marathon. 8D Fluttershyyy and Pinkie Pie are my favourites~~

I've almost seen all of the first Season. Only episodes I haven't been able to catch has been the very first two.
And while I know there has been others like it, I find it interesting they've had the major plot events at the beginning of the season and the rest of it being day to day events. The three episodes dealing with the Gala aside.

Well, other then the very first two episodes and the first episode of season 2 I've pretty much caught up on everything. And I have to say... I have to agree Lesson Zero is one of the creepiest episodes of anything I've seen. It was creepy enough to get it's own page of Nightmare Fuel on TV Tropes, being the first ever episode of anything to get it's own page. But other then that the episode itself is a good example of how well a cartoon made in flash can be with what they did with the animation. I end this post with this lovely picture from that episode set to lovely music for your viewing pleasure. Even if it's the middle of the day, sweet dreams.

I admit my fan moment of the new My Little Pony has died down a bit, but only because I'm finally caught up on all the episodes.
Interesting enough the last two new episodes have been Rainbow Dash centered. One for her getting a pet, and the next for letting fame get to her head.

I have to say... I watched a few episodes and... it was interesting, but I'm not sure I want to finish up.
I did find some interesting related videos that were rather odd and entertaining tho. o_________o Who knew there were sooooo many Dr. Who fans who also adored My Little Pony....

Mainly because of two or three ponies with hourglass cutie marks. The most prominent one is brown with darker brown spiky hair. If he's an Earth Pony or a pegasus depends on the episode, and in one case whatever the animators want him to be.
Season two has a bit more diverse background characters. Granted a pony can be on screen for barely 5 seconds *cough* Vinyl Scratch/DJ-Pon3 *cough* and get a massive fandom behind them, and have basic shapes just recolored. The Season 2 background ones are more diverse. One episode had pony versions of characters from The Big Lebowski, and also a taller unicorn then what we usually see.
No idea why I went on that tangent. Anyways, at least you gave it a chance Hana. In the end that's all I and the creators ask for.

Is it okay to admit that I'm less fond of the episodes that don't have a song in them? That being said "Winter Wrap-Up" is probably my current favorite.

Yes, it's okay. In fact Winter Wrap-Up is my favorite song so far.
In fact of the two newest episodes of Rainbow Dash "May the Best Pet Win" is above "The Mysterious Mare Do Well" if for no other reason then because it has a song. And it's a duet between Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash.
