Cetus was as stubborn as they come. Though her mission to retrieve Julius's Tear was dismissed some time ago, she had not lost the confidence to present it to her Commander in full. Failure was not an option. It couldn't be an option! Failing was for the weak brained and ill willed.

The gem had been transported from the museum back into ownership of the original owner, Benvolio Burgess. Even though the gem was being kept under tight lock, key and safe, the attempted stealing of the sapphire by a Galactic Grunt caused him to hire some members of the police force (especially those who held the grunt off) for regular patrols on the large estate to prevent the attempt again. Located on the very outskirts of Katarina, the Burgess mansion was a wry building that twisted up an eyebrow and prodded, "How much Benjamins d'ya think was used to make me?"

Officer Wimple, Anderson and Sol were instructed to patrol the northern sect of the mansion: the entrance. Other groups of three-four took the other three lengths of the mansion to keep the place extremely secure. Mister Burgess greeted the three happily with a handshake and warm sense of gratitude.

"Thank you kindly for your assistance, officers." the old man said. "I have business to take care of overseas, so please watch my mansion, the sapphire and my daughter for the next few days. She's been sickly since birth and has since been bedridden, so you mustn't worry of her wandering off. Nora here will be taking care of her for the time being." His lightly tanned hand reached up to pat the woman's shoulder. "But do check it on them every hour to make sure they're alright. I will be sure to give good word to the chief of police for your help. Alright, I will be taking my leave. Goodbye."

The man climbed into the expensive and likely imported car and zoomed off, leaving the nurse maid to the three's company. The maid was dressed as a posh woman with warmly set grey eyes. Her attire seemed to be out of the century, but it appeared to not bother the woman in the least. "Please, officers, follow me." she kindly intoned as she strode past them. "Miss Burgess has made it a must she meet and thank all officers assisting her father. She has not met any of you yet, so it'd be nice if you could spare some of your time to say hello."

Behind the curly turquoise locks of hair, grey eyes, and deceptive smile was Galactic Grunt Cetus. She got the job on a whim for the old bag when she saw he was hiring. The outfit was provided for her by him (for some reason or another, the man seemed to like ruffled fashions) as prepared herself for the role. Though she sported a wig, she had sewed it into her bunned up hair. Even if it was pulled and tugged, there was an unlikely chance it'd loosen without a fight. Her determination was incredible now. She'd get that sapphire today no matter what.

Cornelius was fawning, like always, but not just over Reina this time. He was also getting google-eyed at the nurse maid, who was pretty much still past his prime. "Hey, bud, she's kinda cute, huh?" he mumbled as he elbowed Ed in the side. "She's motherly too . . . ohhh, she'd make a great wife~!" There was certainly hearts in his eyes.

Reina was not happy. She had been assigned as protection detail at the mansion to protect the stupid jewel that has started all this. she prayed the thief wouldn't show, but somehow she knew better. She listened as the owner gave them instructions and introduced them to the nurse-maid, Nora. "that all fine and dandy, but shouldn't we be getting to our posts? i don't mean to be rude, but my job is security, not exchanging pleasantries with the owners daughter." she protested, hell if that's all she had to do in life things would be much simpler, but she had a job to do and she intended to do it.

Reina rolled her eyes at Cornelius's gushing over the woman, though she was pleased that he was lusting after someone other than herself for the moment.

Ed shot Cornelius a withering glare. "Boy, you try asking for a date on the job and I'm gonna smack you one. That lady there is working, like you should be." Puppies. He was surrounded by puppies. Well, at least the girl-pup seemed to know how to sic 'em. The boy just seemed like the type to beg for table scraps and occasionally knock over a burglar completely on accident while trying to lick the intruder's face. Ed suppressed a sigh. This was gonna be a long night.

Cornelius ducked under the glare than straightened his eyes . . . onto Reina rump as he remembered his duties. "I'm sorry sir, officer duties first and outside relations later, yes. I'm sorry Ed- sir, I'll be on my best behavior." The freckle face man shot his senior a quick salute. Man, Reina's bum was like the sun . . . so wonderful~.

Nora turned about and shifted her head to the side giving the officer a warm enough smile to better even the pearly whites of Nurse Joy. "Please, officer, it is only for a moment. Besides, it is midday. The assailant attempted her steal of the sir's sapphire, Julius's Tear, during a late hour of the night, yes? Calm your nerves until the night, please. If the vigilant were to ever show, I am positive it would be during the late evening. The sir's security system is active twenty-four seven too, so if someone or something alien is intruding the estate's premises, you would be alarmed. Now please, this way." The nurse maid turned about and kept up her walking, ignoring the tangible gushing over her shoulder. Inwardly, Cetus sighed. This was gonna be a long night.

Ed sighed. "Alright, miss. Kids, lets say hello to the boss's kid, then set up a watch. Ma'am, I'm sure the security system is very nice, but the boss seems to want people on sight as well, so after we see the little girl, we need to get to our posts." A hand reached up and smacked Cornelius upside the back of his head. "You want another sexual harassment awareness workshop? No? Then keep your eyes up, idjit," Ed hissed.

Reina grimaced, there seemed to be no arguing with the woman even if she dint agree. She would just remain on her toes and wouldn't chat for long. She would meet the girl then leave. Suddenly she felt very uncomfortable, but couldn't pin-point why. She stiffened her posture and just kept walking ignoring the unpleasant feeling. She would not get distracted, not for a second.

Cornelius ducked his head with a light whimper. "What a guy's gotta do for love . . . " he mumbled under his breath.

"Thank you." Nora added but didn't turn around to face the officers. When they reached the mansion, the trio was led from hallway to hallway, down every single turn of a corridor, and passed enough windows to make the mansion a walking maze and open door to any thief. When the daughter's quarters were reached, Nora tapped a few times than shoveled the door open with a swift swing.

"Miss Willamina Burgess, I'd like you to meet Officers Wimple, Anderson and Sol. They will be watching out for your safety for the next few days."

A frail girl raised herself upwards, her teal hair neatly plaited in two long braids and her eyes full of life behind oval spectacles. But, behind the sickly facade, it was Lennyka playing the role of the man's daughter. His real daughter was tied up and stripped naked in a room a few doors down. The grunt got her out of the way early to slip on her nightgown before the officers arrived. "It's a pleasure to meet you three." she mumbled from behind her novel. "I truly appreciate you taking the time to help poppa. The sapphire means a lot to him."

Of course, Cornelius found love in this girl too.

"Also," the daughter coughed a little. "I don't mean to get any one nervous, but I saw a woman just now wandering about on the mansion grounds. Is she an officer? I-I didn't know what to make of her since the alarms didn't go off . . . but she wasn't dressed in a uniform. She had brown hair and . . . pretty sea colored eyes. Do you know her?"

Cetus blinked. She had dressed prior to coming to the mansion. What was this girl- There was more to the girl than realized.

'Dang it!' Ed swore silently. 'That sounds like the thief! And she's already past the security system?!' Outwardly, Ed smiled reassuringly. "Don't you worry, young miss, we'll look for the lady you saw. Maybe she's someone new your daddy hired?" he suggested. "Wimple, you'll search the grounds for the stranger. Sol, you're with me on sapphire detail," Ed told the other two, taking lead. "Ma'am, could you lead us to the sapphire?" he asked the nurse.

Young Willamina shook her head. "Poppa always introduces me to new staff before even allowing them to work. If I haven't seen this lady already, than it can only mean she isn't a new person poppa hired." She shivered a bit. "Please find her, I feel uneasy with there b-being a stranger in the house." She coughed a bit and Nora-Cetus pressed her palms to the girl's shoulders to steady her.

"Of course," Nora said and pulled herself off Willamina. "We will be right back, Miss Burgess. Please get some rest in the meantime."

Willamina nodded her head, pulled off her glasses and rested her head upon the plushness of fine Egyptian cotton. She shut her eyes, searching for sleep.

"W-Wait, can't I stay with the young miss?" Cornelius smiled with a light blush to the tender looking girl who was now resting. "I can keep her company while you three-" Yea, he shouldn't test their patience any more. "A-Alright, I'll search the premises. I think you should also give word to other fellow officers . . . I mean, she could be any where by now." With that, he slipped out the door and ran like a wimp down the hall.

"If you two could follow me . . . " Nora said with a small beckon.

(sorry ive held you guys up so long OTL)

Reina blinked in surprise at the description of the girl Willamina had seen and growled inwardly, though showed no signs of her irritation outwardly. Reina held no faith in security systems, thieves always found their way around them eventually.

Reina rolled her eyes as Cornelius ran off and turned to follow Nora without a words, she was too caught up in her own thoughts.

Ed followed the nurse, eager to get to the sapphire. Honestly, he didn't expect Wimple to accomplish much in his search, but it would reassure the girl, and let the puppy burn off some of his energy. Sol was a much better partner for watching the sapphire, where he knew the thief would eventually come. He knew the girl knew how to sic 'em, and he had much higher hopes for the girl-pup knowing sit and stay than he did for Wimple. Eh, enough wool gathering, time to get down to business.
PostPosted: Sun Nov 06, 2011 7:59 pm

Wimple was running and screaming, bellowing and sprinting down the hallways, out the doors, and all around the entire estate. Yet, as he ran, there appeared to be . . . no officers? The idiot didn't take this into consideration though. No, he just kept running and running, hoping to come in contact with a set of them taking a doughnut break in the corner of the large mansion. His lanky legs ran the entire perimeter of the estate twice before the thought registered: "There is no one here . . . where is everybody?"

He scratched the edge of her orange locks before he pulled the edge of his communicator to his mouth. "Hey uh, Officer Anderson and uh, Sol." It was surprising he didn't add 'gorgeous' onto that title like he usually did. This probably meant he was scared shitless. "There's no one here, like, no one. All the officers we saw before are, like, gone, man. T-This is pretty freaky . . . "

When Wimple turned his head about, a blunt object whammed against his temple. With a slight grunt, he feel with a violent thud. He barely made out the appearance of fallow hair, upset eyes, and a long flow of white until everything went black.

Ed and Reina did not obtain Wimple's full cry from their radios unfortunately. His message was broken, but it appeared clear: something was up. Cetus listened with an intensive chagrin as she brought the duo up a double door hallway. Clasping both hands on the knobs, the doors swung open to reveal a large room with a simple plush rug with double inward, golden stitching and dark burgundy curtains. A large, crystal chandelier hung like an upside-down fountain spurt. It glistened in a dozen degree of sparkles but even its shine could not equal to Julius's Tear glittering vividly in the center. It rested upon a silk pillow that stood upon a mahogany pedestal. A thick glass case with a keypad kept it cocooned in a small space. It was the only decoration in the room, leaving it to be nothing more than a useless room to enter unless for show.

Even for a room meant for bragging, the corners were secured with hardly invisible cameras. Two feet from the case was a laser sensor. The room would be filled with a knock-out gas if the trigger was tripped, so Cetus kept a good distance from it.

Cetus gave herself a sigh of relief seeing the gem untouched. Even so, what was with the current events -- a doppelganger, Willamina's words, no officers? This seemed too far-fetched. She remained silent as she worked her way into the room. She did not turn to meet the officers and instead contemplated the matters. What was going on?

Finally, she spouted, "Please be careful around the case, there's a laser sensor around it. It can only be deactivated from the central security control in the sir's chambers, so we cannot shut them off. Unfortunately, they are locked. If tripped, they release a gas that puts us to sleep. It'd be best to stay far from it as possible. But the gem is still in there, so the woman Willamina saw has not found this room yet."

Reina's brows furrowed in concern, the officers were gone? what could have happened to them? Reina looked around the room, memorizing the layout and where the cameras were located " someone obviously has more money than they know what to do with." She commented dryly, coming from a the run-down poor town of Pyrite, she just couldn't bring herself to respect people that lived so flippantly and flaunted their money about. She eyed the sensor and make a mental note to stay as far from it as possible. " im worried about the other officers, but we shouldn't leave our post." she said looking at Ed

Ed nodded agreement to Reina. "Yes, we'll stay here. We were hired to guard the sapphire, and that's what we are going to do. If something is taking people out, going to look for it would only get us disappeared too. We'll station ourselves in the doorway, backs to the doorjamb, so we can watch each other's backs," Ed said, and firmly planted his back against the hinges of the open door. From that position, he had a good view of about two thirds of the sapphire room, and down the hall behind Reina. "Ma'am," he said to the nurse, "maybe you should go back and sit with your charge, especially if there might be a stranger in the house."

Cetus was iffy on the asked option. The little teal haired wench she was instructed to watch only did three things day after day: eat, s**t, and sleep. For such a princess, her existence didn't mean much. She'd still be dead asleep and slumbering off the moments as if they never existed, so what was the use of watching her? Even so, her choice to stay might seem suspicious.

"Alright." Nora said as she clasped with hand to the other and bowed her head. "Please be careful."

Cetus turned, shifted the knob, and silently stepped from the room with a click behind her. Thoughts processed like wildfire but she came to no conclusion. No police officers? Impossible! There was at least another nine cops on the estate, they couldn't just dissipate into the air like dust! The annoying pair of heels upon her feet ached with every click down the tiled linoleum. Mahogany door upon mahogany door slid passed her view with each step until she paused at the middle door past the archway. Like her before gestures, she tapped a few knuckles across the door than twisted the knob.

"Miss Burgess?" she asked in a dainty voice as the door swung open. "I'm back-"

Something sharp caught her periphery and her immediate reflex said dodge. Cetus rolled away as the embodiment standing behind the doorway lurched forward. They had not expected their target to move upon entering. In a panic, the person threw their blunt object aside and launched themselves on the woman.

Cetus blinked as an extreme weight overtook her. They crushed her body downward, forcing all limbs immobile. "Euugh!" she coughed as two hands began to grasp her neck. Apparently, this force was doing whatever it could to rid her away. Cetus clutched at the fingers, leaving scars with her own. The opposing force kneed her stomach, causing her arms to fling outward to prevent another jab to the stomach. Her voice gurgled but no voice came. As world almost drifted to a black, something clinked against her hand. Without even considering what it could be, Cetus gripped it in her palm and swung. The metallic object hit square onto the enemy's head and immediately, the choking stopped. The member fell sideways and Cetus scuttled to the opposing wall, clutching her throat. Blood puddled from what appeared to be a young man's head. He appeared younger than twenty -- and now he was dead. Even so, Cetus felt no remorse. Her life came first before anyone.

Cetus turned her gaze to her hand. The item he tried to off her with was a brass statue of Aphrodite . . . probably snatched upon from another part of the house. Even so, who was he and what was he doing there? Secondly, where was Willamina? Since the attack, Cetus hadn't taken the chance to realize until now the rich's man kid was gone. Cetus stood and searched about the place. Did this guy kill her? Unfortunately, the only signs of a struggle were her own. The open window where a gentle breeze blew signified she probably ran. But from three stories? Impossible.

There was much more to do than just stand around and dally. Cetus bent forward and stared at the body. One hand smothered over the poor fella's face which was clenched. How terrible his last expression was of the pain he felt. He was lavender haired, lanky, with brilliant green eyes Cetus's had inspected out of curiosity. The young man was paler than herself. The blood once his face and head were now leaking all over the expensive, thousand stitched rug like lemonade down the throat of an extremely thirsty businessman. He was clad in black and in the corner of her corso was a significant R emblem. Cetus widened her eyes.

"Team Rocket-?"

Back at the sapphire room, a familiar figure the cops smiled like a sly fox from the corner of a window. She was the same Cetus they knew, sans the earrings had the taken the time to notice them. If they didn't notice her the first time, she tapped the glass for emphasis to signify she was certainly there was willing to put up a chase. As waving a gloved hand with a held high birdie, she disappeared into the bush surrounding the estate.
