Took me a while to figure out an appropriate subject line for this...
As a number of you may be aware (from posts in the I'M ON FIRE thread), I've had something big going on recently that I was going to announce to the guild when the time was right.
That time is now.
I am pleased to announce that I am officially engaged to my girlfriend of 8 years.

It actually happened a little ways back, but between getting the family informed and other craziness, I didn't share it with everyone right away.
Since today marks 8 years of us being together, I figured it was an appropriate day to bring my guild friends (all of you) into the loop.

rolleyes I guess I should've expected that.
@Mabo: Memebase has noted the great decline of MySpace as well. I don't remember which site I saw it on though.
@Inu & Lorika: Relax, relax, I'll tell you how it went down. It actually went rather smoothly:
We had planned to go to a little historical area of VA called Occaquan for an afternoon to look around the shops there and then have dinner at a restaurant we had heard about in the area. After we had finished walking around, it was still a little early, and neither of us were really hungry yet. We ended up sitting down on a bench in front of the restaurant debating whether to go in anyway, or to head back to her parent's place and figure out dinner later. When I said that we should wait 'til later to eat, she said that going to the restaurant was "the main reason we came" there.
"Actually..." I replied, reaching in my pocket, "That's not entirely true. This is the main reason we're here." I popped open the box, and revealed the ring.
